1. INTRODUCTION
Stress is a part and parcel of everybody's life. Though it is both men and women who deal with
stress, it is women who tend to be its most common victims. And it is particularly the working
women who find themselves struggling with stress more than others. In recent times, working
women not only acted as a home maker but also as a professional and contribute 46% of total
workforce in India. As per socio cultural environment in India, women are also expected to
perform social responsibilities of Home markers. Thus, working women across the world,
specifically in India exposed with stressors from socio cultural environment and work
environment.
1.0 DEFINITION
Stress can be defined in general term as people feel pressures in their own life. The stress due
to work load can be defined as reluctance to come to work and a feeling of constant pressure
associated with general physiological, psychological and behavioral stress symptoms
1.1BASIC TERMS
Stress
Stress is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional
adjustment or response. It can come from any situation that makes you feel frustrated, angry,
nervous etc.
Stress at Work Place
Work-related stress is the response people may have when presented with work demands and
pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities and which challenge their ability
to cope.
Working women
Women who works for his family and she has to do work for his family and face lot of
problems, she face all difficulties just to help her family is called working women.

2. COMPANY PROFILE
Name : Sumandeep Vidyapeeth
Establishment year : 2007
2.0 HISTORY:
K. M. Shah Charitable Trust which began with a small clinic with two dental chairs has today
metamorphosed into an educational hub encompassing dental, medical and physiotherapy
collages.
Shree Kanjibhai Manjibhai Shah Dental College & Hospital was established in 1999 to
promote education in modern professional subjects. The focus rapidly expanded and in 2001,
Smt. Kashiba Jayshankar Pandya College of Physiotherapy was established. This was
followed in quick succession by foray into general healthcare services with the establishment
of Dhiraj General Hospital in 2002.
The Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University is a symbol of trust, service and hospitality.

3. REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Research suggests that working is generally related to positive health for women. However as
noted previously, workplace stress is major problem, and it has been suggested that gender
may be an important demographic characteristic consider in the experience of stress. While on
the one hand it has been reported that there are differences between women in relation to
workplace stress.
According to hofboll , Geller & Dunahoo suggest that it is important to consider the
stressor that are unique employed women, as this can increase the understanding of the
specific needs of working women. This particularly important according to hofboll as several
studies have found that the provision of workplace support was more effective in reducing
occupational stress in women. Research has reported that women in particular are exposed to
the following stressors multiple roles lack of career progress and discrimination and
stereotyping.
First, the current review will present and evaluate research that has investigated the role of
working women in the level of workplace stress. Second, it will be present an evaluate
research and theory concerning working women and the stressors of ‘multiple roles’, ‘lack of
career progress’ and ‘discrimination and stereotyping’. It is acknowledged that the present
review. There have been several review of literature within this area but most of these were
conducted during the 1980.
5. SCOPE AND COVERAGE OF RESEARCH STUDY
The scope of the research would be covering working women among in Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth of Vadodara.

6. OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH STUDY
The objectives of the study are
 To find out the kind and level of stress faced by working women in Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth of vadodara
 To find out reasons that cause stress in the day to day working life of working women
 To identify impact of stress on job performance of working women
 To identify expectations of working women who are under stress from family and
organizations
 To suggest the techniques to manage the stress and reducing managerial problems
7. RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design of this study is descriptive. The study is concerned about the factors that
lead to stress among working women come under Descriptive Research category.
8. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
8.0 DATA COLLECTION
Primary Data : Primary data will be collected through structured questioner which may be
filled up by respondents either by mail/email or face to face meeting.
Secondary Data: Books, Journals, News Paper articles, magazines, past research paper and
thesis etc.

8.1 SAMPLING
Universe of the Study: Those women who are working in various sectors in Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth Region.
Proposed sample size: As per the respective calculation methods and time and cost
constrain
Sampling method: Simple random sampling, Stratified Random sampling
9. DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
The collected information and primary data would be subjected to data analysis and
interpretation, content analysis and statistical analysis. The collected primary data shall be
preceded considering the designing of the structured Non-disguised questionnaire. The
primary data would be scrutinized, edited and shall be validated and thereafter it would be
presented in the forms of tables, charts graphs and diagrams as the case may be.
10. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
The present study concentrated upon highlighting the major work related stressors and
home/social factors which create hurdle for women to pursue in life. These stressors not only
confined the boundaries to work but also influence the physical and mental health.
11. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH STUDY:
The proposed research study will cover the effective strategies helpful to reduce the level of
stress among working women. The study will consider both the individual and organizational
approaches to reduce stress.

12. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
 The Working women were reluctant to give correct information.
 The investigator intended to cover only few areas of stress relevant to the proposed study.
 As the study was done within a limited time, investigator could not select the sufficiently
large sample for the study.

  • 2. “AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ON LEVEL OF STRESS AMONGST WORKING WOMEN IN SUMANDEEP VIDYAPEETH OF VADODARA’’ 1. INTRODUCTION Stress is a part and parcel of everybody's life. Though it is both men and women who deal with stress, it is women who tend to be its most common victims. And it is particularly the working women who find themselves struggling with stress more than others. In recent times, working women not only acted as a home maker but also as a professional and contribute 46% of total workforce in India. As per socio cultural environment in India, women are also expected to perform social responsibilities of Home markers. Thus, working women across the world, specifically in India exposed with stressors from socio cultural environment and work environment. 1.0 DEFINITION Stress can be defined in general term as people feel pressures in their own life. The stress due to work load can be defined as reluctance to come to work and a feeling of constant pressure associated with general physiological, psychological and behavioral stress symptoms 1.1BASIC TERMS Stress Stress is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response. It can come from any situation that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous etc. Stress at Work Place Work-related stress is the response people may have when presented with work demands and pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities and which challenge their ability to cope. The Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University is a symbol of trust, service and hospitality. 2 3. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Research suggests that working is generally related to positive health for women. However as noted previously, workplace stress is major problem, and it has been suggested that gender may be an important demographic characteristic consider in the experience of stress. While on the one hand it has been reported that there are differences between women in relation to workplace stress. According to hofboll , Geller & Dunahoo suggest that it is important to consider the stressor that are unique employed women, as this can increase the understanding of the specific needs of working women. This particularly important according to hofboll as several studies have found that the provision of workplace support was more effective in reducing occupational stress in women. Research has reported that women in particular are exposed to the following stressors multiple roles lack of career progress and discrimination and stereotyping. First, the current review will present and evaluate research that has investigated the role of working women in the level of workplace stress. Second, it will be present an evaluate research and theory concerning working women and the stressors of ‘multiple roles’, ‘lack of career progress’ and ‘discrimination and stereotyping’. It is acknowledged that the present review. There have been several review of literature within this area but most of these were conducted during the 1980.

  • 6. 5. SCOPE AND COVERAGE OF RESEARCH STUDY The scope of the research would be covering working women among in Sumandeep Vidyapeeth of Vadodara. 4 6. OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH STUDY The objectives of the study are  To find out the kind and level of stress faced by working women in Sumandeep Vidyapeeth of vadodara  To find out reasons that cause stress in the day to day working life of working women  To identify impact of stress on job performance of working women  To identify expectations of working women who are under stress from family and organizations  To suggest the techniques to manage the stress and reducing managerial problems 7. RESEARCH DESIGN The research design of this study is descriptive. The study is concerned about the factors that lead to stress among working women come under Descriptive Research category.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 8.0 DATA COLLECTION Primary Data : Primary data will be collected through structured questioner which may be filled up by respondents either by mail/email or face to face meeting. Secondary Data: Books, Journals, News Paper articles, magazines, past research paper and thesis etc. 5 8.1 SAMPLING Universe of the Study: Those women who are working in various sectors in Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Region. Proposed sample size: As per the respective calculation methods and time and cost constrain Sampling method: Simple random sampling, Stratified Random sampling 9. DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION The collected information and primary data would be subjected to data analysis and interpretation, content analysis and statistical analysis. The collected primary data shall be preceded considering the designing of the structured Non-disguised questionnaire. The

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION The present study concentrated upon highlighting the major work related stressors and home/social factors which create hurdle for women to pursue in life. These stressors not only confined the boundaries to work but also influence the physical and mental health. 11. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH STUDY: The proposed research study will cover the effective strategies helpful to reduce the level of stress among working women. The study will consider both the individual and organizational approaches to reduce stress. 6 12. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY  The Working women were reluctant to give correct information.  The investigator intended to cover only few areas of stress relevant to the proposed study.  As the study was done within a limited time, investigator could not select the sufficiently large sample for the study.
