3. SDA CHURCH RAISED UP
TO PREACH THE 3 A’S MESSAGES
“In a special sense Seventh-day
Adventists have been set in
the world as watchmen and
light bearers.
To them has been
entrusted the last warning
for a perishing world.”
Testimonies, Vol.9, 19.
4. SDA CHURCH RAISED UP
TO PREACH THE 3 A’S MESSAGES
“They have been given a work
of the most solemn import—the
proclamation of the first, second,
and third angels' messages.
There is no other work of
so great importance.
They are to allow nothing else
to absorb their attention.”
Testimonies, Vol.9, 19.
5. STAY ON THE FIRM PLATFORM
“I saw a company
who stood well guarded and firm,
giving no countenance to those
who would unsettle the established
faith of the body.
God looked upon them
with approbation.”
Early Writings, 258,259.
6. A STRUCTURE OF TRUTH!
I was shown three steps—the first,
second, and third angels' messages.
Said my accompanying angel,
“Woe to him who shall move a block or
stir a pin of these messages.
The true understanding of these messages is
of vital importance. The destiny of souls
hangs upon the manner in which they are
received.” Early Writings, 258,259.
7. First Angel’s Message

10. Early Writings, 145

God said to His Son,

11. Ephesians 3:9

16. First Angel’s Message
Worship him
that made heaven,
and earth, and the sea,
and the fountains

17. Statement of Beliefs—1872
That there is one God,
a personal, spiritual Being,
the Creator of all things,
omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal,
infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice,
goodness, truth, and mercy,
unchangeable, and
everywhere present by
His representative, the Holy Spirit.
18. Statement of Beliefs—1872
That there is
one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Son of the Eternal Father,
the One by whom
He created all things,
and by whom they do consist.
19. Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21
We behold God in Jesus.
Looking unto Jesus we see that
it is the glory of our God to give.
“I do nothing of Myself,” said Christ;
“the living Father hath sent Me,
and I live by the Father.”
“I seek not Mine own glory,”
but the glory of Him that sent Me.
John 8:28; 6:57; 8:50; 7:18.
20. Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21
In these words is set forth
the great principle which is
the law of life for the universe.
All things
Christ received from God,
but He took to give.
21. Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21
So in the heavenly courts,
in His ministry for all created beings:
through the beloved Son,
the Father's life flows out to all;
through the Son it returns,
in praise and joyous service,
a tide of love,
to the great Source of all.
22. Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21
And thus through Christ
the circuit of beneficence
is complete,
representing the
character
of the great Giver,
the law of life.

23. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
75 As a personal being, God has
revealed Himself in His Son.
Jesus, the outshining of the
Father’s glory, “and the express
image of His person” Hebrews 1:3,
was on earth
found in fashion as a man.
24. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
As a perso7n5al Saviour
He came to the world.
As a personal Saviour
He ascended on high.
As a personal Saviour He intercedes
in the heavenly courts.
Before the throne of God in our behalf
ministers “One like unto the Son of man.”
Revelation 1:13.
25. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
Christ, the Light 7o5f the world, veiled
the dazzling splendor of His divinity
and came to live as a man among men,
that they might, without being
consumed, become acquainted
with their Creator.
No man has seen God at any time
except as He is revealed
through Christ.
26. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
Christ came to te7a5ch human beings
what God desires them to know.
In the heavens above, in the earth,
in the broad waters of the ocean,
we see the handiwork of God.
All created things testify to His
power, His wisdom, His love.
27. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
But not from the7 s5tars or the ocean
or the cataract can we learn
of the personality of God
as it is revealed in Christ.
God saw that a clearer revelation than
nature was needed to portray
both His personality
and His character.
28. Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church,
75 He sent His Son into the world
to reveal,
so far as could be endured
by human sight,
the nature and the attributes
of the invisible God.
29. Statement of Beliefs—1872
That there is one God,
a personal, spiritual Being,
the Creator of all things,
omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal,
infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice,
goodness, truth, and mercy,
unchangeable, and
everywhere present by
His representative, the Holy Spirit.
30. Statement of Beliefs—1872
That there is
one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Son of the Eternal Father,
the One by whom
He created all things,
and by whom they do consist.
31. Distinct Persons
There is a personal God,
the Father;
there is a personal Christ,
the Son.
Hebrews 1:1, 2: Psalm 19:1-3 quoted....
6BC 1068.3
32. What if God the Father came to Earth?
But one thing is impossible with God
—the power of eclipsing the
greatness of His gift, in showing His
love for fallen man than He has given
in Jesus.
33. What if God the Father came to Earth?
In this wonderful expression of His
love He has given to man fallen, and
to all the unfallen worlds, and to the
universe of heaven clear evidence
that there is no love but His love.
{21MR 392.4}
34. What if God the Father came to Earth?
The Lord has paid this infinite price in
giving His only begotten Son
that through belief in Jesus Christ
is belief in God,
and that the righteous laws, the ten
precepts of His decalogue, may appear to
the world, even to as many as will believe
on Jesus Christ, as His just requirements
and are ever to be maintained.
21MR 392.5
35. What if God the Father came to Earth?
Had God the Father come to our
world and dwelt among us,
veiling His glory and humbling Himself,
that humanity might look upon Him,
the history that we have of the life of
Christ would not have been changed
in unfolding its record
of His own condescending grace.
36. What if God the Father came to Earth?
In every act of Jesus,
in every lesson of His instruction,
we are to see and hear
and recognize God.
In sight, in hearing, in effect,
it is the voice and movements
of the Father.
Letter 83, 1895. 21MR 393.1
37. RH, May 4, 1876 par. 64
Is not the gift of Christ a pledge of the
Father's love for sinners? I would say unto
you who have come forward here,
The Father loves you.
In the popular churches, we hear but
little except, "Do you love Jesus?" The
love of the Father is scarcely
mentioned; it is only Christ, Christ.
God the Father has given unto man the
greatest gift that Heaven held.

“The Lord Jesus Christ,

a distinct person,

78. Christ Incarnate
The more we think about Christ's
becoming a babe here on earth, the more
wonderful it appears. How can it be that
the helpless babe in Bethlehem's manger
is still the divine Son of God?
Though we cannot understand it, we can
believe that He who made the worlds,
for our sakes became a helpless babe.
79. Christ Incarnate
Though higher than any of the
angels, though as great as the
Father on the throne of heaven,
He became one with us.
In Him God and man became
one, and it is in this fact that we
find the hope of our fallen race.
80. Christ Incarnate
Looking upon Christ in the flesh,
we look upon God in humanity,
and see in Him
the brightness of divine glory,
the express image of God the Father.
The Youth's Instructor, Nov. 21, 1895.
81. Christ Incarnate
Through Jesus, the Son of God, the
Father is more fully revealed to the
world. Jesus said to his disciples: "If ye
had known me, ye should have known
my Father also; and from henceforth ye
know him, and have seen him. Philip
saith unto him, Lord, show us the
Father, and it sufficeth us.
82. Christ Incarnate
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long
time with you, and yet hast thou not
known me, Philip?
He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.”
The souls of thousands are crying out
today, “Show us the Father, and we will
be satisfied. We cannot claim God as our
Father until we see him.”
83. Christ Incarnate
Jesus says to every such soul, as he said
to Philip: “‘Have I been so long time
with you, and yet hast thou not known
me?’ Have you seen my works, have
you listened to my teachings, have you
witnessed the miracles that I have
wrought in my Father’s name, and yet
have you not understood
the nature of God?
84. Christ Incarnate
I have prayed with you and for you, and
yet can you not comprehend that I am
the way, the truth, and the life,
and that in my life I have unfolded to
you the character of my Father?
I am the brightness of my Father’s glory,
I am the express image of his person.
85. Christ Incarnate
‘Believest thou not that I am in the
Father, and the Father in me?
the words that I speak unto you I speak
not of myself; but the Father that
dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me; or else believe me for
the very works' sake.
86. Christ Incarnate
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.’”

common or unclean.
91. Acts 10:13-20 15 And the voice
spake unto him again
the second time,
What God hath
cleansed, that call not

16 This was done
thrice: and the vessel
was received up
again into heaven.
92. Acts 10:13-20 19 While Peter
thought on the vision,
the Spirit said unto
him, Behold, three

and go with them,
doubting nothing:

98. Desire of Ages, 116
At the Saviour's baptism, Satan was
among the witnesses. He saw the
Father's glory overshadowing His Son.
He heard the voice of Jehovah
testifying to the divinity of Jesus. Ever
since Adam's sin, the human race had
been cut off from direct communion
with God; the intercourse between
heaven and earth had been through
Christ;

Ever since Adam’s sin,

But now that Jesus had come “in

He had before communicated
with humanity through Christ;
now He communicated with
humanity in Christ.
101. Desire of Ages, 116
Satan had hoped that God's
abhorrence of evil would bring
an eternal separation
between heaven and earth.
But now it was manifest that the
connection between God and man
had been restored.

that are afar off, even as many as
the Lord our God shall call."
104. Acts 2:38,39
Here we find mention of all three,
just as Christ commanded:
(1) Jesus Christ -for the remission of sins.
(Matthew 26:28; Acts 10:43; Rom. 3:25).
(2) Holy Ghost - the bearer of "the gift."
(1 Cor. 12: 4,5,9,10,11,28,29,30; Gal. 5:22,23.)
(3) Lord our God - the giver of "the gift."
(James 1:17; Heb. 6:4; 1 Cor. 7:7; Rom. 6:12.)
105. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
“Now there are diversities of gifts,
but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of ad-ministrations,
but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of

Truth is more precious than all besides.
Notwithstanding the agencies combined
against the truth, a large number take their
stand upon the Lord's side. GC 612

THE 1872 STATEMENT OF BELIEF
268. The Godhead
Forasmuch then as we are
the offspring of God, we
ought not to think that the
Godhead is like unto gold, or
silver, or stone, graven by art
and man’s device. Acts 17:29
269. John 10:7; Hebrews 10:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
I am the door of the sheep.
By a new and living way,
which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil,
that is to say, his flesh.
270. STAY ON THE FIRM PLATFORM
“I saw a company
who stood well guarded and firm,
giving no countenance to those
who would unsettle the established
faith of the body.
God looked upon them
with approbation.”
Early Writings, 258,259.
271. A STRUCTURE OF TRUTH!
I was shown three steps—the first,
second, and third angels' messages.
Said my accompanying angel,
“Woe to him who shall move a block or
stir a pin of these messages.

272. STAY ON THE FIRM PLATFORM
Declare to the General Conference
that, as a local church body,
you are officially worshipping
God the Father,
and that you are adhering to
the 1872 Statement of Principles.
273. JAMES WHITE
“The third angel’s message was,
and still is, a WARNING to the
saints to “hold fast,” and not go
back, and “receive” the marks
which the virgin band got rid of,
during the second angel’s cry.”
Word to the Little Flock, 11.
274. Evangelism, p.614,615.
“There are
three living persons of the heavenly trio;
in the name of these three great powers—
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—
those who receive Christ by living faith are
baptized, and these powers will cooperate
with the obedient subjects of heaven in their
efforts to live the new life in Christ.”
275. 1 Corinthians 2:10,11
For what man knoweth the
things of a man, save the
spirit of man which is in
him? even so the things of
God knoweth no man, but the
Spirit of God.
276. 1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the
spirit of the world, but the spirit
which is of God; that we might
know the things that are freely
given to us of God.
277. Great Controversy: 502,503
But the death of Christ was
an argument in man's
behalf that could not be
overthrown. The penalty of
the law fell upon Him who
was equal with God…
278. Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the
earth shall worship him, whose
names are not written in the book
of life of the Lamb slain
from the foundation of the world.
279. The Lamb
slain from the foundation of the

CRUCIFIED
280. John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have
everlasting life.
281. Acts 13:33
God hath fulfilled the same
unto us their children, in that
he hath raised up Jesus again;
as it is also written in the
second psalm, Thou art my Son,
this day have I begotten thee.
282. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of
Zion.
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto
me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten
thee.

BIRTH CRUCIFIED RESURRECTION
283. Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893
It seemed that divinity flashed through
humanity as Jesus said, "I and my Father
are one." The words of Christ were full
of deep meaning as he put forth the
claim that he and the Father were of
SAME, NOT
IDENTICAL
one substance,
possessing the same attributes.
284. Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893
The Majesty of heaven stood, calmly
assured, as a god before his adversaries.
Their scowling faces, their hands filled with
stones, did not intimidate him. He knew that
unseen forces, legions of angels, were round
about him, and at one word from his lips they
would strike with dismay the throng, should
they offer to cast upon him a single stone. He
stood before them undaunted.
285. Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893
Why did not the stones fly to the mark?--It
was because divinity flashed through
humanity, and they received a revelation, and
were convicted that his were no common
claims. Their hands relax and the stones fall
to the ground. His words had asserted his
divinity, but now his personal presence, the
light of his eye, the majesty of his attitude,
bore witness to the fact that he was the
beloved Son of God.
286. Jer 2:12
Be astonished, O ye
heavens, at this, and be
horribly afraid, be ye very
desolate, saith the LORD.
287. Jer 2:13
For my people have
committed two evils; they
have forsaken me the fountain
of living waters, and hewed
them out cisterns, broken
cisterns, that can hold no
water.
288. Acts 2:38,39
Being an obedient disciple of Christ
Jesus, Peter baptized his fellow Israelites
in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remissions of their sins, and the name of
the Holy Ghost who is the bearer of "the
gift", and the name of the Father (Lord
our God) who giveth "every good gift
and every perfect gift." - James 1:17.
289. Acts 10:13-20 17 Now while Peter
doubted in himself what
this vision which he had
seen should mean, behold,
the men which were sent
from Cornelius had made
enquiry for Simon's house,
and stood before the gate,
18 And called, and asked
whether Simon, which was
surnamed Peter, were
lodged there.
290. 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus provides the grace, especially by his
death upon the cross of Calvary.
God provides his love, which draws us to
him, and by which he sent his only begotten
Son to die for us (John 3:16).
And the Holy Ghost provides communion,
offering us the comfort and presence of Jesus
Christ and the Father in our lives, just as
Jesus promised in John 17.
292. ISAIAH 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto
us a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be
called Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting
Father, The Prince of Peace.
293. ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting
Father In seeking an explanation of this text,
we must bear in mind the work of
Christ as brought to view in this and
parallel passages. These words refer
to the "child born," the "son given,"
who, as we have seen, bears the title
of God subordinate to his Father.
294. ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting
Father And if an apostle could call himself
the father of those whom he had
begotten in the gospel (1 Cor. 4:15; 1
Tim. 1:2; Titus 1:4), how
appropriately is this title applied to
the Prince of Peace, who is, in a
peculiar sense, the everlasting Father
of all to whom he gives everlasting
life.
295. ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting
Father The New Jerusalem is called the Bride,
the Lamb's wife (Rev. 21); Christ of
course is the Bridegroom, the husband.
But Paul says Jerusalem above is our
mother. Gal. 4:26. If so, why not her
husband, the bridegroom, be our
father? Surely there is nothing
inappropriate in this.
296. ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting
Father
But, as the New Jerusalem is not
the mother of the unregenerate,
these being reckoned the children
of the bondwoman, so Christ is not
called their father. They are not his
children, and he does not give them
everlasting life.
297. ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting
Father
Therefore the title is applied to him
in a subordinate and restricted
sense. In its unrestricted and
universal sense it applies only to
the Supreme One, "the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2
Cor. 11:31; Eph. 1:3; 1 Peter 1:3.
