71% of Europeans are interested in electric cars
A percentage of 71% of Europeans are interested in electric cars, and
of these 57% are considering buying one, according to a survey made
bz Cetelem company in 10 European countries.
Even if the electric car is considered to be "the best solution for environment protection", almost 1
of 2 (49%) don’t plan to make a financial effort to acquire it.
Only 1 European of 3 is ready to pay 10% more for this type of car than its equivalent with heat
engine.
Cetelem study also shows that interest in this technology is the lowest (54%) in France and that of
the French interested, less than 1 of 2 (43%) declare themselves willing to buy such a vehicle.
Battery autonomy is a "problematic aspect", according to study which highlights a paradox:
although 82% of Europeans daily traveling less than 100 km, 55% of them want to buy an electric
car, whose autonomy is less than 250 km.
The study was conducted in autumn 2011 on a representative sample of 6,000 people from 10
countries: Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland, Russia and
Turkey.
