Overall Aim of the Programme
Through a quality twin-disciplinary education in both
English Studies and Foreign Language Education, this
degree will develop the individual student for a career in a
wide range of sectors. The aim of this Bachelor of Arts is
to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and
competence that will allow them to play a significant role
in
the knowledge economy of Ireland and the EU.

Texts for stage and screen – to be threaded with literature , text based Emphasise different threads as soon as year 2 giving students a rounded approach to the two discipline areas

Graduate Salary & Graduate Recruitment Trends Survey 2011 Employers want a blend of academic achievement relevant to the role and the appropriate skill set to ensure successful integration into their role and the company . Only 40% of employers say graduate must have studied specific degree courses Competences: soft skills (e.g. communication, team work or work independently) hard skills (e.g writing skills number 1 area needed of improvement - 44%. Foreign language fluency: 31%), knowledge based skills (e.g. business) Emphasise degree equips students with skills to transfer in number of different areas and adapt to new labour demands .
