2. Comparative
a) short words (one or two syllables):
•we add –er + than.
e.g.:
•He is taller than me.
•My car is cheaper than your car.
3. b) adjective ending in vowel + consonant
•we double the consonant and add -er
e.g.: big - bigger
hot - hotter
thin - thinner
fat - fatter
c) adjective ending in –y:
•we change y–i and add –er
happy - happier
funny - funnier
easy - easier
ugly - uglier
4. d) long words (three or more syllables):
• we add : more + adjective + than
e.g.: Maria is more beautiful (adj) than Jennifer.
This book is more interesting than that book.
OBS! Irregular Adjectives change their form:

a) short words (one syllable):
• we add the + adjective + –est
e.g. :
• The red car is the fastest in the group.
• My brother is the smartest from the family.
6. b) adjective ending in vowel + consonant
•we double the consanant and add – est
e.g. :
•She’s the tallest from her team.
c) long words (three or more syllables):
• we add : the most + adjective
e.g.:
•He’s the most intelligent student in the class.
