Instructor Delivery Tips and
Techniques
General Skills
⢠Become comfortable with public speaking; take classes; join Toast Masters.
⢠Practice vocal variety. It helps to have a voice to which attendees enjoy listening. Learn
to do this by attending classes and/or joining a club (again, like Toast Masters).
⢠Practice. Do a dry run of the complete presentation, using all the technologies required.
Facilitation Skills
⢠Attend other virtual classes to observe other skilled facilitators. Take notes.
⢠Check in with your students frequently to make sure they are with you: Can they see
your current slide? Check for understanding.
⢠If the pace feels sluggish, ask.
⢠If everything feels on target, ask as well!
⢠Recognize your participants.
⢠Be culturally aware and know how to include participants of diverse cultures.
(GlobeSmart)
Technology Skills
⢠Know your technology well. Learn all the application's features to become completely
comfortable with the application(s).
⢠Have an emergency plan in case technology fails.

Of particular importance in discussing R&Rs: Getting the PMI viewpoint versus Intelâs Delineating between Sponsor, Senior Mgmt., and PM roles Much of what is discussed in the slides is merely overview of topics the student should examine in greater detail.
