FPSOS IN KEPPEL MOORED FPSO
SHIPYARD, SINGAPORE Rationale:
As field and subsea infrastructure continue to get complex, choice of the right type of
mooring and riser system is very critical. It is no secret that a variety of factors have
to be considered before narrowing down on the right solution. The main purpose of
the proposed workshop is to give to the attendees a good understanding of the basis
necessary for the selection of the station keeping facility for the FPSO. Every available
option will be described; their pros and cons will be discussed. Examples on state of art
turret systems will also be presented.
Discussion Points:
Examining the Turret vs Spread mooring systems and the impact of field
specifications on the choice of the same
External vs Internal Turret – Which one is better and when?
Permanent vs Disconnect able turret moored FPSOs– How reliable is the disconnect
and reconnect sequence?
What are the associated optimised riser solutions available?
Addressing the impact of subsea infrastructure interface on the choice of mooring
system
Listing the recent technological upgrades available in the industry for turret moored

Products - A Technip Facility, Corrosion Management
Johor Bahru, Malaysia Framework for the FPSO
Rationale:
Corrosion control design and management for a Floating Production Storage and
Offloading installations (FPSO) is a challenging endeavour. FPSOs generally operate
in quite corrosive conditions. There are significantly increased challenges to design and
operate FPSO’s in these corrosive conditions. Environmental factors such as relatively
high ambient temperatures, humidity and cargo temperatures are bound to have a
huge influence on the corrosion vulnerability of the vessel. Therefore selecting a cost
effective corrosion control design that addresses both the fabrication and operational
aspects is tricky. This workshop will analyse the various forms of corrosion that could
impact the FPSO and focus on specific strategies to mitigate the same.
Discussion Points:
How to select a cost effective corrosion protection system based on a combination of
corrosion margins, coating systems and cathodic protection
Devising an operation inspection, maintenance and repair strategies for the selected
corrosion protection system
How should the approach for choice of a corrosion mitigation system vary between
newbuild FPSOs vs. existing vessels (conversions)
