Recruitment Strategies

1. Assess your current volunteer opportunities
  to ensure you are offering a diverse set of
  volunteer opportunities.

2. Target specific groups for recruitment that
  meet the skills sets and personality types
  needed for a volunteer opportunity.

3. Have well-defined volunteer descriptions and
   immediate next steps for those who express
   interest in a volunteer opportunity with your
   organization.

4. Host an open house social to recruit
   volunteers and introduce them to your
   organization.

5. Utilize existing outlets for recruitment.

6. Ask existing volunteers to help with
  recruitment.
Retention Strategies
1. Ensure that volunteer opportunities allow for
   meaningful contribution to the organization
   and express how the opportunities connect
   to the mission.
2. Create projects that meet the needs of the
   organization, but also meet the needs of the
   volunteer.
3. Provide volunteers with training and
   professional development.
Retention Strategies
4. Train your paid staff to work with volunteers.

5. Create volunteer teams to complete volunteer
  opportunities that incorporate fun and
  dynamic leadership.

6. Have volunteer celebrations and continually
  acknowledge the work that your volunteers
  are doing.
