What is HRM? Let us understand it by dividing the term into its subparts.  • Human– people, us  • Resource– Assets/costs for organizations  • Management– co-ordination and control to achieve set goals But humans, unlike other resources in the context of work and management, cause problems. Definitions: Edwin . B .plippo “ HRM is the planning, organising, directing & controlling of the procurement, development, compensation integration, maintenance and separation of human resources to the end that individual, organizational and social objectives are accomplished.” Yoder, turnbull,  henemen and stoner “ Human resource management is that part or phase of management which deals with the effective control and use of Manpower as distinguished from other sources of power   ” Milkovich and Boudreau “Human resource Management is a series of integrated decisions that form the employment relationships , their quality contributes to the ability of the organisations and the employess to acheive their objective  ” Hasnan Baber (c) 2011

Objectives of HRM ,[object Object],	       To be ethically & socially responsible to the needs           	     of the society while minimizing the negative     	     impact of   such demands upon the organization ,[object Object],To recognize the role of HRM in bringing about  	     	     organizational effectiveness ,[object Object],		To maintain the department’s contribution at a level   	     appropriate to the organization’s needs ,[object Object],		To assist employees in achieving their personal   	    goals in a manner that their personal goals 	    	     enhance the individual’s contribution to the 	    	     organization Hasnan Baber (c) 2011
