Presenter 'Big T' Trevor Campbell has returned to the airwaves of 'Downtown
Radio', the station that had taken him off the air because of his heavy drinking.
A year ago, 59-year old Campbell was charged with inflicting grievous bodily
harm against his girlfriend, Scottish singer Ann Williamson, but was found not
guilty.
“I’ll be keeping off the booze,” Campbell told the local press. “Never mind what
some people have been writing, my favourite drink nowadays is still sparkling
water and I'm committed to meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous twice a week. I
have turned my life right around, although I still see Ann, in spite of everything
that happened between us. I'm looking forward to getting out to do live disc
jockey shows again the way I used to, and the first of a series of country music
nights goes on at the Ascot in Carryduff next Saturday. Strangely enough,
being only a few yards from a bar doesn't bother me."
Campbell is writing his autobiography this year and hopes to be offered more
on-air work at Downtown.
