3,000 miles, giving community a much bigger meaning. At Mindo, community
includes anyone and everyone who comes into contact with their raw
ingredients and those who enjoy the products.
Jose Meza and Barbara Wilson turned from auto repair shop owners in
Dexter to unique “bean-to-bar” chocolate makers in 2009. Since the
beginning of Mindo, they have been in pursuit of making the most
delicious finished chocolate possible.
Creating small-batch, craft chocolate demands great cocoa beans.
Mindo starts with one of the finest in the world: heirloom Arriba Nacional
cacao, from Mindo, Ecuador. Their process begins as soon as the cocoa
beans are harvested from trees. Working directly with a cooperative of
organic farmers in Ecuador, they purchase only the Nacional variety, considered
to be a fine-flavor, heirloom bean.
