2. According to the Chevron company and
Congress,
Congress accepts the scientific finding of the
Environmental Protection Agency that ‘warming
of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now
evident from observations of increases in global
average air and ocean temperatures,
widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising
global average sea level.
3. Layman’s Terms
Climate change is a significant and lasting
change in the statistical distribution of weather
patterns over periods ranging from decades to
millions of years. It may be a change in average
weather conditions or the distribution of
events around that average (e.g., more or
fewer extreme weather events). Climate
change may be limited to a specific region or
may occur across the whole Earth.
4. The lies and myths…..
Some people that are skeptical of
global warming claim that Earth’s
global surface temperatures have
been falling or have leveled off
since 1998. They point to data
now several years out of date
from U.K. researchers that put
1998 as the warmest year on
record. They also point to an
unusually cool summer in North
America in 2009 followed by an FALSE: While it may be true that some
abnormally cold winter across all areas have remained cool, the earth as a
of the northern hemisphere. whole has been getting warmer
People who had to shovel record
snows from their driveways or
live without power during
ferocious snowstorms in the
northeastern United States began
to doubt decades of scientific
evidence on global warming.
5. The truth…. Somewhat……
Greenhouse gases are necessary to life as we know it, because they keep the planet
surface warmer than it otherwise would be. But, as the concentrations of these gas
continue to increase in the atmosphere, the Earth's temperature is climbing above
levels. According to NOAA and NASA data, the Earth's average surface temperature
increased by about 1.2 to 1.4ºF in the last 100 years. The eight warmest years on re
(since 1850) have all occurred since 1998, with the warmest year being 2005. Most
the warming in recent decades is very likely the result of human activities. Other
aspects of the climate are also changing such as rainfall patterns, snow and ice cove
and sea level.

6. Meanwhile…….The Debate continues
Can you prove that Although researchers attempt to include as m
there isn’t global processes as possible, simplifications of the a
warming? climate system are inevitable because of the
constraints of available computer power and
limitations in knowledge of the climate syste
Results from models can also vary due to diff
greenhouse gas inputs and the model's clima
sensitivity
