understanding of the Deen); a learned scholar (of the Deen)
is more difficult upon satan than a thousand worshippers.”

who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He
mark out those who are lying.”
(Qur’an: Ankabut: 29: 2-3)

“Verily, Allah loves [only] those who fight in His cause in [solid] ranks,
as though they were a building firm and compact.”
(Qur’an: Saff: 61: 4)

Allah has bestowed upon you: how, when you were enemies, HeAllah has bestowed upon you: how, when you were enemies, He
brought your hearts together, so that through His blessing youbrought your hearts together, so that through His blessing you
became brethren; and [how, when] you were on the brink of abecame brethren; and [how, when] you were on the brink of a

“Now when Moses spoke to his people, [it was this same
truth that he had in mind:] "O my people! Why do you
cause me grief, the while you know that I am a
messenger of Allah sent unto you?" And so, when they
swerved from the right way, Allah let their hearts swerve
from the truth: for Allah does not bestow His guidance
upon iniquitous folk.”

 We may be unaware that our state (We may be unaware that our state (AHWALAHWAL) may in fact be) may in fact be

“And who could be better of speech than he who calls [his fellow-men]
unto Allah (DA-’AA -ILALLAAH), and does what is just and right (‘AMAL

who have surrendered themselves to Allah”?”

“Give yourself up to the study of jurisprudence (FIQH), for the
knowledge of jurisprudence is the best guide to piety and the
fear of Allah and it is the straightest path to the ultimate goal.”

“A learned FAQIH (scholar & teacher) is truly FAQIH, one who does not cause others to feel
despair from receiving the mercy of Allah (i.e. Not overly strict and too ‘harsh’); and neither
does he (give the impression by his behaviour, a guarantees as if ) anyone can avert or
withhold the wrath (punishment) of Allah, nor allows opportunity (by giving dispensation)
for anyone to disobey Allah (i.e. Not being inappropriately lax and too ‘nice’).

"O children of Israel! Behold, I am a messenger of Allah unto"O children of Israel! Behold, I am a messenger of Allah unto
you, [sent] to confirm the truth of whatever there still remainsyou, [sent] to confirm the truth of whatever there still remains
of the Torah, and to give [you] the glad tiding of a messengerof the Torah, and to give [you] the glad tiding of a messenger
who shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." Butwho shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But
when he [whose coming Jesus had foretold] came unto themwhen he [whose coming Jesus had foretold] came unto them

end that He make it prevail over all [false] religion, however hateful thisend that He make it prevail over all [false] religion, however hateful this
may be to those who ascribe divinity to aught but Allah (may be to those who ascribe divinity to aught but Allah (MUSHRIKUNMUSHRIKUN).”).”

“O YOU who have attained to faith! Shall I point out to
you a bargain that will save you from grievous suffering
[in this world and in the life to come]? You are to believe
(IIMAN) in Allah and His Messenger, and to strive hard
(JIHAD) in Allah's cause with your possessions (AMWAL)
and your lives (ANFUS): this is for your own good - if you
but knew it!”
(Qur’an: Saff: 61: 10-11)

“[If you do so,] He (Allah) will forgive you your sins, and [in the life to
come] will admit you into gardens through which running waters
flow, and into goodly mansions in [those] gardens of perpetual bliss:
that [will be] the triumph supreme!”

dearly love: (dearly love: (NASRNASR) succour from Allah [in this world], and) succour from Allah [in this world], and

the white-garbed ones, "Who will be my helpers in Allah's cause?" -the white-garbed ones, "Who will be my helpers in Allah's cause?" -
whereupon the white-garbed [disciples] replied, "We shall be [thy]whereupon the white-garbed [disciples] replied, "We shall be [thy]
helpers [in the cause] of Allah!" And so [it happened that] some of thehelpers [in the cause] of Allah!" And so [it happened that] some of the
children of Israel came to believe [in the prophethood of Jesus],children of Israel came to believe [in the prophethood of Jesus],

 There is a great difference between theoretical Muslim andThere is a great difference between theoretical Muslim and
true Muslim; between Muslim who is good at talking abouttrue Muslim; between Muslim who is good at talking about
Islam and a Muslim who concerns himself in being one.Islam and a Muslim who concerns himself in being one.

 From the historical perspective, Islam was establishedFrom the historical perspective, Islam was established
following the pattern of moulding the individuals whichfollowing the pattern of moulding the individuals which

 In Islamization to re-establish the lost glory of Islam in theIn Islamization to re-establish the lost glory of Islam in the
present contemporary life (that is what Islamization is allpresent contemporary life (that is what Islamization is all

 Instead of talking about an Islamic state, from the perspectiveInstead of talking about an Islamic state, from the perspective
of ‘Ilmul-Ahklaq, every Muslim must be concerned about theirof ‘Ilmul-Ahklaq, every Muslim must be concerned about their

 Our own inner selves are urgently in need of Islamization!Our own inner selves are urgently in need of Islamization!

 The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was successful in educating andThe Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was successful in educating and

that people of the generation termed asthat people of the generation termed as KHAY-RA UMMAHKHAY-RA UMMAH, were, were
one of the crucial factors (human resource,not merely theone of the crucial factors (human resource,not merely the
MANHAJ) for the successes, workability and fruition of the IslamicMANHAJ) for the successes, workability and fruition of the Islamic
systems – civilization (systems – civilization (TAMADDUNTAMADDUN).).
 Therefore, if we are only to concern ourselves with trying toTherefore, if we are only to concern ourselves with trying to
replicate that system (replicate that system (MANHAJMANHAJ) without due consideration on) without due consideration on
our own quality (as the resource – ourour own quality (as the resource – our SHAKSHIYASHAKSHIYAH andH and

AKHLAQ – (disposition) can be formed through practice or acquired through
habits.
Thus, inculcation of the proper attitude, adopting right discipline and exuding
the appropriate regard towards others in our relationship – guided by Prophetic
ways – is very important.
Thus is that the term ADAB, should be understood.
As AKHLAQ is the desired outcome, yet having and striving with ADAB at
all times, consistently is the means , nay the SUNNAH.
This is inherent in the way our traditional scholars nurture their students –
who were all people who understood its importance and thus were developed
with ADABADAB (without them needing any intellectual discourse).
Yet today, this knowledge (nay awareness even) of what ADABADAB is, has been
lost and requires elucidations .

REMINDER FROM MY PREVIOUS LESSONS

 With the “loss of Adab”, even the knowledge of who the
true leaders and scholars is lost, and the confusion compounded.
 Actually this confusion in knowledge can be corrected
through Education ,
 Yet, education in man cannot be truly done without his
having basic “Adab” itself.
 Thus the importance of restoring the “Adab” in every
Muslim.
 It may even have to begin by correcting their misuse of
“terms” (istilah) and clarifying wrongly assumed “definition”
(ta’rifat) that may have caused whatever misunderstandings.
