(THE SEAL OF PROPHETHOOD) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 4. لَقَدۡ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ إِذۡ بَعَثَ فِيہِمۡ رَسُولاً۬ مِّنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡہِمۡ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَڪِّيہِمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِڪۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ۬ مُّبِينٍ Allah did confer a great favour on the Believers when He sent among them an Messenger from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom, while, before that, they had been in manifest error. (Qur’an: Aali’Imran: 3: 164) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 6. “ We sent not an Messenger but to be obeyed, in accordance with the Will of Allah” (Qur’an: an-Nisa’: 4: 64) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ 7. فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُواْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِہِمۡ حَرَجً۬ا مِّمَّا قَضَيۡتَ وَيُسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمً۬ا “ But no, by thy Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee (Muhammad) judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against thy decisions, but submit to them (your decision) with the fullest submission.”( yu-sal-limu taslee-ma ) (Qur’an: an-Nisa’: 4: 65) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 8. إِسْلاَم ، تَسْلِيْم Arabic : “submission, resignation, surrender, reconciliation (to the will of God), acceptance, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 9. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱدۡخُلُواْ فِى ٱلسِّلۡمِ ڪَآفَّةً۬ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ خُطُوَٲتِ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِۚ إِنَّهُ ۥ لَڪُمۡ عَدُوٌّ۬ مُّبِينٌ۬ O ye who believe! enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the Evil One; for he is to you an avowed enemy. (Qur’an: Baqarah: 2: 208) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 10. إِتِّبَاع Arabic : “following, adherence, compliance, observance of, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 11. قُلۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى يُحۡبِبۡكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ۬ Say: "If ye do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Qur’an: Aali ‘Imran: 3: 31) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 12. لَّقَدۡ كَانَ لَكُمۡ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسۡوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ۬ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرۡجُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلۡأَخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرً۬ا “ Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.” (Qur’an: al-Ahzab: 33: 21) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 13. عِلْمٌ Arabic : “knowledge, learning, cognition, intellection, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 14. وَلَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡبَصَرَ وَٱلۡفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ كَانَ عَنۡهُ مَسۡـُٔولاً۬ “ And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).” (Qur’an: al-Isra’: 17: 36) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 15. يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ دِينَكُمۡ هُزُوً۬ا وَلَعِبً۬ا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ أَوۡلِيَآءَۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ “ O ye who believe! Take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,― whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah if ye have Faith (indeed).” (Qur’an: Ma-idah: 5: 57) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 16. اَلْمَرْءُ عَلَى دِيْنِ خَلِيْلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ “ A person is upon the religion (way of life) of the ones (friends) he is close to, therefore each of you must look to whom you (love to be or) are close to.” ( Hadith reported by Tirmidzi ) Our Prophet s.a.w. advices and warns us Muslims: All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 TASAWWUR ISLAM 17. All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 جَالِسُوْا الْكُبَرَاءَ ، وَسَاءِلُوْا الْعُلَمَاءَ ، وَخَالِطُوْا الْحُكَمَاءَ “ Be in the company of the elders (who are noble in Allah’s sight), seek the answers from the learned Islamic scholars, and interact with the wise.” ( Hadith ) Our Prophet s.a.w. Advices us Muslims: TASAWWUR ISLAM 18. إِنَّ هَذَالْعِلْم دِيْن ِ فَانْظُرُوا عَمَّنْ تَأْ خُذُوْنَ دِينُكُم “ Verily this is knowledge (contains the rules) of the DEEN (Religion), so look thoroughly into the person from whom you acquire (the knowledge of) your DEEN (Religion).” Imam Muhammad ibnu Sirrin (rahm.a) advices and warns us Muslims: TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 19. آدَابٌ Arabic (plural) of Adab : meaning – “good breeding, nurture, manners, refinement, cultured, decorum, propriety, social grace, educated, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 20. أَدِّبُوْا أَوْلاَدَكُمْ عَلَى ثَلاثِ خِصَالٍ ، حُبِّ نَبِيِّكُمْ ، وَحُبِّ آلِ بَيْتِهِ ، وَتِلاَوُةِالْقُرْآنِ Our Prophet s.a.w. Advices us Muslims: “ Educate (nurture) your children upon three things: To Love your Prophet ( s.a.w.), And to love the Family members of his household ( Aali Muhammad ), and (learn) to recite Al-Qur’an.” ( Hadith narrated by Tabrani ) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 21. Imam ‘Abdullah al-Mubarak (rahm.a) give us a sound but truly pertinent advice for us Muslims: نَحْنُ إِلَى قَلِيْلٍ مِنَ اْلأَدَب أخْرَجُ مِنَّ إِلَى كَثِيرٍمِنَ الْعِلْم “ We are (much) in need of a little adab , from (that of) going out (seeking) after much of ‘ilm (knowledge)” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 22. ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَوۡلَىٰ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ مِنۡ أَنفُسِہِمۡ ۥۤوَأَزۡوَٲجُهُ أُمَّهَـٰتُہُمۡ ۗ “ The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers.” (Qur’an: Ahzab: 33 : 63) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 23. قُل لَّآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ أَجۡرًا إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰۗ Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin.“ (Qur’an: ash-Shura: 42 : 23) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 24. يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تُقَدِّمُواْ بَيۡنَ يَدَىِ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ۬ “ O ye who believe! put not yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger: but fear Allah: for Allah is He who hears and knows all things.” (Qur’an: Hujurat: 49 : 1) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 25. شَكوْر Arabic (plural) : “thankfulness, gratefulness, acknowledgement, gratitude, laudation, praise, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 26. وَإِذۡ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمۡ لَٮِٕن شَڪَرۡتُمۡ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمۡۖ وَلَٮِٕن ڪَفَرۡتُمۡ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌ۬ “ And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; but if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed.” (Q: IBRAHIM: 14: 7) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 27. إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجٍ۬ نَّبۡتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرًا إِنَّا هَدَيۡنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرً۬ا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: so We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (Qur’an: al-Insan: 72: 2-3) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 28. أَعْمَال Arabic : (plural of ‘ Amal ) : “doing, practice, course of action, working, application through deeds, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 29. يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ڪَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَن تَقُولُواْ مَا لَا تَفۡعَلُونَ “ O ye who believe! why say ye that which ye do not? Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.” (Qur’an: Saff: 61: 2-3) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 30. سَبِيْل Arabic : “way, road, path, cause etc.” Similar or related to : صِرَاط TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 31. ٱلۡيَوۡمَ يَٮِٕسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن دِينِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِۚ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِينً۬اۚ “ This day have those who reject Faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed my favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (QUR’AN: MAA-IDAH: 5: 3) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 32. وَمَا كَانَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ لِيَنفِرُواْ ڪَآفَّةً۬ۚ فَلَوۡلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرۡقَةٍ۬ مِّنۡہُمۡ طَآٮِٕفَةٌ۬ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُواْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُواْ قَوۡمَهُمۡ إِذَا رَجَعُوٓاْ إِلَيۡہِمۡ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَحۡذَرُونَ Nor should the Believers all go forth together: if a contingent from every expedition remained behind, they could devote themselves to studies in religion ( yufaqqih fid-deen ) and admonish the people when they return to them― that thus they (may learn) to guard themselves (against evil). (Qur’an: Taubah: 9: 122) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 33. ألاَ إِنَّ اْلفَقِيْهَ كُلَّ اْلفَقِيْهَ اْلَذِي لاَ يَقْنُطُ اْلنَاسَ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ وَيُؤَامِنُهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ وَلاَ يُرَخِّصُ لَهُمْ فِي مَعَاصِي اللهِ “ A learned faqqih (scholar & teacher) is truly faqqih , one who does not cause others to feel despair from receiving the mercy of Allah (i.e. Not overly strict and too ‘harsh’); and neither does he (give the impression by his behaviour as if he is) anyone can avert or withhold the wrath (punishment) of Allah, nor allows opportunity (by giving dispensation) for anyone to disobey Allah (i.e. He is not inappropriately lax and too ‘nice’). ( Hilyatul-Auliya: 1-73 – as quoted by M.Natsir in Fiqhud-Da’wah ) Wise saying of Sayyidna Ali r.a: TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 34. قُلۡ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَۗ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ “ Say (O Muhammad): Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed.” (Qur’an: az-Zumar: 39: 9) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 35. وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ قَوۡلاً۬ مِّمَّن دَعَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحً۬ا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِى مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says "I am of those who bow in Islam"? (Qur’an: Fussilat: 41: 33) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 36. قُلۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا۟ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِىۖ وَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنَا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ Say thou: "This my way: I do invite unto Allah― on evidence clear as the seeing with one's eyes I and whoever follows me: Glory to Allah! and never will I join gods with Allah!" (Qur’an: Yusuf: 12: 108) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 37. “ And verily, the learned (‘ ulama – the Islamic scholars) are the heirs of the Prophets. The Prophets have not bequeathed dinar nor dirham , but have only left Sacred Knowledge, and whoever has taken this has taken an enormous share.” ( HADITH REPORTED BY ABU DAWUD, TIRMIDZI ) Our Prophet s.a.w. advices us Muslims: TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 38. "Verily Allah does not remove knowledge from the (hearts of the) people, rather he takes away knowledge by taking away its specialists (the scholars), until there are no more scholars left, the people then take leaders that are ignorant, and when they are asked, and give fatwas (they give) without knowledge, so they misguide and are misguided.” ( HADITH REPORTED BY ASHAAB AS-SUNNAN FROM IBNU ‘UMAR R.A .) Our Prophet s.a.w. warns us Muslims: TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 40. فَسَادٌكَبِيْرٌ عَالِمٌ مُتَهَتِّكٌ ، وَأَكْبَرُمِنْهُ جَاهِلٌ مُتَنَسِّكُ هُمَا فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْعَالَمِيْنَ عَظِيْمَةٌ ، لِمَنْ بِهِمَا فِي دِيْنِهِ يَتَمَسَّكُ Imam Burhanuddin rahm.a: “ An immoral man of learning is a great evil, yet a greater evil is an ignoramus leading a ‘godly’ life. Both are a great trial everywhere, to whomever depends to them both, in holding on to his religion” (Quoted by Imam al-Zarnuji in – “Kitab Ta’lim Muta’allim TarIqIt Ta’allum) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 41. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا هَادِيْنَا مُهْتَديْن ALLAA-HUM-MAJ-’AL-NAA HAA-DEE-NAA MUH-TA-DEEN O Allah! Make us to be people who guide (others) and who are (always) Guided (by Your Guidance) . LET US MAKE THIS DU’A (SUPPLICATION): TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 42. GHOY-RA- DwAA-L-LEE-NA WA LAA- MU-DwIL-LEEN Not of those who are astray and who lead people astray. غَيْرَضَالِّيْنَ وَلاَ مُضِلِّيْن LET US MAKE THIS DU’A (SUPPLICATION): TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 43. جَهَدَ جِهَاد Arabic : “endeavour, strive with utmost, labour, exhaust every effort, fight, exert, wear out, fatigue, try with one’s utmost capacity etc.” in a cause. Note : from this term is also derived word إِجْتِهَاد meaning: diligent, industrious, etc. – “ exhaustion rather than mere exertion of a scholar’s ability to derive a religious ruling.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 44. وَٱلَّذِينَ جَـٰهَدُواْ فِينَا لَنَہۡدِيَنَّہُمۡ سُبُلَنَاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ “ And those who strive in Our (Cause)― We will certainly guide them to Our Paths: for verily Allah is with those who do right.” (Qur’an: Ankabut: 29: 69) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 45. إِعْتِصَام Arabic : “clinging, adherence, preservation, guarding, maintain etc.” حَبْل Arabic : rope, cable, cord, etc.” TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 46. وَٱعۡتَصِمُواْ بِحَبۡلِ ٱللَّهِ جَمِيعً۬ا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُواْ ۚ “ And hold fast, all together by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;” (Qur’an: Aali ‘Imran: 3: 103) TASAWWUR ISLAM All Rights Reserved©Zhulkeflee2010 48. يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِى ٱلۡأَمۡرِ مِنكُمۡۖ فَإِن تَنَـٰزَعۡتُمۡ فِى شَىۡءٍ۬ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِۚ ذَٲلِكَ خَيۡرٌ۬ وَأَحۡسَنُ تَأۡوِيلاً “ O ye who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those charged with authority among you.
