About the presenter

CURRENT AGRICULTURAL SITUATION
SMALL SCALE FARMERS
5. To help solve the problem in the native
swine sector… (Regional Level)
6. What we needed to address current issues:
• STABLE MARKET PRICE
• SUPPORT GROUP
• CONTINUOUS GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
• TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
• PROMOTION
• PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
• INSTITUTIONAL BUYERS
• STRONG POLICY FRAMEWORK
7. • In 2013-2014, the problem was the market & nobody wants
to eat native pork.
• In 2013-2014 the selling price of Native Pigs in the region
3,4, and 5 is around 80-100/kg live weight.
• In 2015, we saw the need to organize and collaborate. We
can not depend on the available market dictating the price.
• In 2015, we fixed the buying price to P150/kg live weight.
• In 2015, PNPONAI was organized.
• In December 2016, all our stocks was sold out!
• In 2015-2018 we gave FREE seminars to native pig raisers
who are interested to become members. (Total 5 Basic
Native Pig Production & 5 Profitable Guide to Basic Native
Swine Production - TOTAL OF 500 BENEFICIARIES)
We saw the need to organize:
Philippine Native Pig Owner Networks Association,
Inc. (PNPONAI) established
8. • On March 2016, we had our first general assembly.
• We saw the success of the group, in March 2016, we had
our first general assembly so…
• To ensure the market for the group, I opened Teofely Cafe
on July 2016 (a farm to table concept restaurant).
• On October 2016, we had our first “promotional event”
showcasing the economic viability and potential of native
pigs thru our “October Blackfeast 2016” event.
• We were featured in Agriculture Magazine in the December
2016 issue.
• In March 2017, we showcased our best seller lechon in the
international culinary event “Madrid Fusion Manila”
representing Region 4A.
• Last October 26, 2018, we had our 2nd October Blackfeast.
• Now, the price for the quality native pork in our region is
P150 lowest up to P200 highest (live weight).
We saw the need to organize:
9. • STARTED AS A FACEBOOK GROUP IN 2013
• REGISTERED IN THE SEC IN AUGUST 2015
AS A NON STOCK NON PROFIT
ORGANIZATION (wala sariling pondo)
• OBJECTIVE: TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK OF
NATIVE PIG RAISER PRODUCING THE BEST
QUALITY NATIVE PORK MEAT.
