VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Sharp HospiceCare is looking for volunteers in the following areas:
PATIENT CARE
To provide caregiver relief, comfort
to our terminally ill patients and their
families in their homes or facilities.
VETERAN TO VETERAN
Sharp HospiceCare partners with We Honor
Veterans to recognize the military service of
veterans. Our volunteers provide veteran to
veteran support and companionship.
INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES
To provide Healing Touch
for caregivers of our hospice
patients.
ο§ Level One Healing Touch
Certificate Required.
ο§ IT Volunteers require an
additional day of training.
HOSPICE HOMES
To provide staff support and
comfort care to our terminally
ill patients and their families in
one of our Hospice Homes.
OFFICE SUPPORT
To provide clerical staff
support, special projects,
and mailings.

2. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Volunteer requirements prior to training are as follows:
TEENS:
β’ Commit to at least 4 hours per week for a year
β’ Either a California Driverβs License or any picture ID
β’ Auto Insurance (if applicable)
β’ 2 letters of Recommendation
β’ Student Counselor Form
β’ $25 Registration Fee ($10 for students and seniors over 60) payable at interview.
ADULTS:
β’ Commit to at least 4 hours per week for a year
β’ California Driverβs License

β’ 2 letters of Recommendation

Volunteer requirements after training for Sharp HospiceCare:
β’ 2 step TB skin test given 1 week apart at Sharp Employee Occupational Health Department (EOHD)
β’ One dose of Seasonal Flu vaccine given in EOHD or proof of vaccination provided to EOHD
β’ If you were born 1957 or later, documentation of 2 doses Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
vaccine or a blood test with positive immunity. If you do not have a provider or insurance for the
blood test, EOHD can order the test and you will be charged a maximum of $79 due at time of
service
β’ Documentation of 1 dose Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) given 2005 or later
β’ A verbal statement if you have had chickenpox illness in the past. If you have not had chickenpox
you will need documentation of 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.
