BLIP is a blogger integration platform to facilitate backlinking and collaboration between bloggers and established news sources. Pitched by Team BLIP at the MediaThon: Hack the News! on November 3, 2014 at PNC Park.

• BLIP is an aggregator driven by a dynamic algorithm that will rank
community content from blogs and other new media sources based
on elements such as:
– Volume of Traffic
– Social Presence
– User Feedback
– Specific User Data
• The platform uses this data to present both a trending view of the
blogosphere (agnostic of users preferences) and a customized,
aggregated view of content served for the individual user.
6. Process
• Solicit all local bloggers to complete free sign up for BLIP using
traditional and digital media to promote it.
• Provide bloggers with tracking pixel and instructions to map user
behaviors.
• Monitor User Traffic for 60 days prior to entering ranking system
• Provide blogs with IAB standard banner units to begin receiving ads.
This does not preclude them using other display networks such as
AdSense.
• Partner blogs begin to appear through the algorithm and receive
increased traffic from BLIP

10. How are we different?
• Other aggregation sites, like www.pghbloggers.org ,organize blogs
based on subject but there is no focus on tailoring content to the user.
BLIP piggybacks on news media websites’ large user base to deliver
both the best of the local blogosphere and the best customized
content for the user.
• Rather than work with a select list of bloggers we have created an
open source platform that any blogger can adopt to extend their
audience and generate new revenue.
We are all in the content business. The barrier to entry is lower
then ever before and more competitors are entering the field every
day. With Blip, news media companies can become the source for
all local independent content.
