In March, 2011, we released the Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) version 1.0, a fully-featured server virtualization platform based on the Xen hypervisor. In this talk we'll explore: - Xapi, the XenAPI management daemon, written in OCaml; - Cool functionality, such as live VM migration between hosts (with no shared storage); - PCI device passthrough to VMs for native performance; - A new system architecture designed to provide XCP with better security, scalability, performance, and reliability; - Future directions and next year's roadmap. Vagrant is a great solution for providing all of your devs a standard dev environment, but like all the other great technology out there, you have to learn it, and then implement it. Not anymore, this session will give you a well used, documented Vagrant Setup, with the flexibility to use it for all of your future dev projects too. Learn how this Vagrant Environment is setup, and how to extend it. Kill the learning curve, and spin it up today. This setup is being used by several devs, on several projects, and has simple flexibility built in. Drop your repos in the main folder, follow simple conventions, and add a small amount of configuration and be able to spin up your environment in minutes. This setup can configure a simple welcome page, configure the web server and cfml engine mappings, datasources, web server settings per site, host entries, and much more. As great as this sounds, nothing is ever perfect, learn how some assumptions left me looking silly, and owing another developer a meal, and how I resolved that issue and made this vagrant setup even better.

Hokuto Kagaya LINE / PION C Team このセッションでは、我々が所有する複数のElasticsearchクラスタをどのように運用しているかについて、発生した、あるいは発生しうる課題とそれに対する改善・解決策をお話しします。 LINE GAMEプラットフォームの製品であるPIONの開発チームでは、ログ用、サービス用などの「用途」および開発環境、サンドボックス環境、本番環境などの「環境」という2つの要素の直積を取る形で複数のElasticsearch（以下Es）クラスタを管理しています。Esは非常に多機能なミドルウェアであるために単一クラスタの場合でもチューニングポイントが多く、管理は簡単ではないですが、複数のクラスタになるとより一層難しくなります。特に、各クラスタに属するノードの管理、インストールされているプラグインの管理などは非常に煩雑で間違えやすくなります。単一クラスタの際はKibanaのベーシックプランやcerebroなどのOSSである程度管理が可能ですが、複数クラスタを持っている場合の最善策は何でしょうか？また、単一・複数にかかわらず Es クラスタそのものの状態を適切にモニタリングして必要に応じてアラートがほしいという要求は常にあります。Kibanaのmonitoring機能はSearch/Indexそれぞれについてlatencyを見ることができますが、より詳細なモニタリングをするにはクライアント側でmetricsを取っておく必要があります。

There are a number of vendor lock-ins to avoid, this talk discusses how to do so with the open source configuration management and infrastructure automation platform Chef. Chef makes it easy to deploy to nearly every public and private cloud platform as well as virtualized and physical servers. Chef may also be used to deploy cloud infrastructures such as OpenStack, Eucalyptus or CloudStack. By abstracting away the platform, infrastructure becomes portable and you are free to deploy wherever necessary.

With the 'rise of containers' comes also the rise of container platforms. And while Docker is the way to do things for now, Podman has also been gaining traction as the new kid on the block especially after being somewhat embraced by RedHat and Fedora. Being new also comes with lack of heavy scrutiny and audit on the security side of things. Once you start integrating other protocols and pieces that compliment each other, such as Varlink, boundaries become fuzzy. Rather than focus on container breakouts, which are also very important, we'll focus on how Podman and Varlink interoperate and the authentication and security implications as such. We'll look at the remote API capabilities, secure configurations and how certain setups and projects out there by default can be vulnerable to compromise. By the end of the talk, we will have discussed various bugs, issues and hardening techniques around deploying Podman and Varlink together and if you don't know a lot about containers, you'll learn a bit along the way.

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry.
