Business outcomes and measures: If you can’t
identify them, don’t go any further!
Desired behavior change: Outlined clearly and
explicitly by program designers.
INSPIRING CONTENT
Context, context, context: Make sure the content
is immediately relevant to the particular company
and job role.
Personalize: The ability to skip over or opt out of
content you know already.
INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES
Don’t drone on! Insist on compelling speakers,
engaging storytelling, to-the-point videos.
Build in interactivity: Multiple types of interaction with
a clear narrative arc, including milestones and feedback
loops. Balance structure and learner freedom.
COLLABORATION NOT ISOLATION
Help learners build their networks: Give learners plenty of ways to inter-
