GREAT ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAMS HAVE:
INTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Application to the job: If it isn’t immediately
applicable to the job, it isn’t gonna get the time
of day.
Gamification and social interaction:
People learn from people, and motivate
each other.
Appropriate communication: Make sure you
communicate what’s in it for the learner, think
about how they will find out about the program,
and how long each piece of it will take to
complete. Keep your learners’ precious time
in mind!
IMPACT AS A GOAL
Business outcomes and measures: If you can’t
identify them, don’t go any further!
Desired behavior change: Outlined clearly and
explicitly by program designers.
INSPIRING CONTENT
Context, context, context: Make sure the content
is immediately relevant to the particular company
and job role.
