1. EMA-I Portfolio Management Research Group
Goals:
EMA-I PMRG consists of a virtual structure of global teams of portfolio management professionals, practitioners or
scholars.
The team provides cutting-edge independent, reliable and practical knowledge for traditional along with new and
innovative areas on portfolio management within the enterprise community.
Contributions:
The Research Team contributions include:
- Creation of Knowledge Assets:
o Product Review
o Articles
o White papers
o Books reviews
o Case study contribution
- Development of Body of Knowledge
- Development of training materials
Other activities include identifying webinar presenters, new articles not written by the team members, potential
sponsors, tweet of topics, LinkedIn posts, etc.
The information gathered by the Research Team will be scrubbed to the level of quality established by the
Director Thought Leadership.
Each knowledge asset produced by the Research Team Member will be reviewed in a peer review approach. The
overall content, level of readiness, quality, etc. will be either returned back to the Research Team Member or
approved for member’s availability, either via the website and/or events.
The Co-Team Leads will work closely with the Reviewers to ensure number of planned targets is achieved.
Research agenda:
The following topics are part of the initial research team agenda:
• 1. Turning strategy into tactics through PPM
• 2. Portfolio prioritization and selection
• 3. Value assessment and benefits realization
• 4. PPM metrics
• 5. PPM tools and software (including vendor identification and sponsorship)
Team collaboration
The team collaboration will complies with EMA-I overall collaboration mechanism.
This includes email, Skype, team repository, Go to Meeting, discussion Group.
Team Meeting:
A coordination meeting will be held every month.
The date, agenda and duration will be agreed with the team members.
Research Methodology:
EMA-I PMRG does not foster any specific research methodology: Quantitative, qualitative and mixed
methodologies are welcome as long as they are applied with expected rigor.
Using the EMA-I members and its network, we could organize a survey in one of the topics above. We could
partner with other research centers and/or universities to share the work.
