PROGRAM SUPPORT
PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S GROUP (PWG) VOLUNTEERS
Through its monthly meetings, the PWG provides ongoing career and
personal development opportunities for Dress for Success Memphis clients
who are employed. The PWG takes a comprehensive approach to moving
low-income women toward self-sufficiency. Volunteers are needed to assist
with meeting planning, meeting logistics, member recruitment and
retention. Volunteers are also needed to be speakers are also needed to

The Dress for Success Ambassadors are representatives of the organization

to self sufficiency. Ambassadors will educate the public about the mission of
Dress for Success Memphis and giveby word of mouth and distribution of
information about our programs.; Ambassadors will also galvanize support
for the organizationDress for Success;, and help us to recruit clients and
attract additional volunteers, and donors and clients. Prospective
aAmbassadors are asked to undergo through a training program that
consists of doing the following: volunteering within the boutique, and do committing to a minimum of
two hours of sorting, and two hours of working as a personal shopper,; attending one PWG
mMeeting,; attending one Dress for Success Memphis event,; and one Dress for Success Memphis
sSeminar, after which you’ll receive your Ambassador certificate and pin. Lastly, youthe candidate
must shadow an Ambassador or Dress for Success Memphis staff member before going out on your
own. An Ambassador certificate and pin will be awarded to candidates after successful completion of
all training elements. Ambassadors must commit to doing four speaking engagements per year and
participate participating in semi-annual in-service training workshops. Two particular events that our
ambassadors help us to conduct are our Steps to Success and Fashioning Your Future workshops.
Both generate income to help support for the organization’s operations and programs and ultimate
while furthering our mission of helping women enter and succeed in a career. Training for conducting
these workshops is available.Specific training is offered on conducting these workshops.
“SUITED FOR SUCCESS” Workshop Volunteers The Dress for Success Memphis “Suited for
Success” workshop consists of the following components: basic resume writing, mock interviewing,
business etiquette and networking basics.
MOCK INTERVIEWERS - conduct mock interview for an entry level position and completes an
Interview Feedback form. Interaction with each client should include comments, suggestions and tips
helpful for improving the applicant’s interviewing skills based on your observation during her mock
interview. Ideal opportunity for human resource professionals or anyone with experience interviewing,
hiring, managing or leading employees. (women and men welcome for this position)
RESUME WRITING FACILITATORS - assist the clients with drafting a basic resume and answering

during her suiting appointment to ensure that she receives appropriate professional attire.
There is some boutique organizing and clean up required also.
However, the most important part of the Personal Shopper’s job is to
boost the client’s self-esteem sot that she feels confident and self-
assured at her job interview. Personal shopping is an enjoyable and
rewarding way to make a direct impact on the lives of Dress for
Success clientsour clients’ lives. This is an Iideal opportunity for any
woman who has an eye for dressing, enjoys clothing, shopping, and &
connecting in a personal way with other women.
3. LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GALS (L.E.G.s)
The League of Extraordinary Gals performs a variety of functions to facilitatehelp keep office
operations going:
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANCETS
Typical duties of office administration assistants include general
typing, filing, managing phone inquiries, scheduling appointments, and
calling clients to follow-up. Volunteers are also needed to assist in
entering client demographics and suiting information into our client
database data and statistical tracking for spreadsheets to track client
statistics.
SORTERS
We receive many generous donations, some of which are inappropriate
as interview attire. Sorters sort through clothing donations and
separate articles that are suitable as interview and employment attire
from those that are not. Unusable items are bagged for donation to
other agencies, while retained articles are further sorted by size and
hung on racks or properly stored by the sorters. Donated items must
be sorted and sized. Items we cannot use need to be bagged for
donation to other agencies. This work is a continual process and
volunteer sorters can be scheduled on a regular basis, depending on
availability of these positions. Groups Also, groups can sort together

SPECIAL EVENTS & FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are
needed to participate in planning and executing fundraising events for Dress for Success. Some of our
key fundraising activities are outlined below:
Spring Fundraiser – This is our major fundraiser for the organization., It which includes a
corporate and community luncheon and a greeting card campaign. Related plans and activities begin
in the Fall of each year and culminate into the Spring of the following year. Volunteers are needed to
help prepare general request letters and packets of information for distribution to to go to potential
corporate and individual donors. Volunteers also assist with addressing cards, general request letters
and finally, the cards themselves that are mailed to prospective patrons sent on the behalf of donors
who provide us with recipients’ lists our donors to individuals on their recipients’ lists. Volunteers are
also needed therewithal to serve on the luncheon committee to coordinate and execute a successful
events.
Dress for Success Memphis is looking for people who will throw C.O.I.N.S.
to help support our mission. Throwing C.O.I.N.S. is an acronym for Circle
Of Influence Networking Soirees., and were designed for those who asked

guests and provide the refreshments and we will provide the collateral material, deliver the message

Upscale Garage Sale – This event, held late October, is a fun event
through which we raise funds to purchase clothing for our clients in sizes
that are sparsely not normally donated to us. It’s a two-day event held in
late October, and which includes a pre-opening reception celebration and
the all-day Saturday sale, which that is held in a large tent. Volunteers
are needed to: help solicit donations of household goods, clothing (aside
from our stock of donations), and other items that can be sold during the
sale. Volunteers additionally; sort, log in, tag, and price the inventory; they also set up for the sale —
this includes (including transporting merchandise from the storage area to the sale site), and
attractively displaying the merchandise in the tent.; Volunteers are also needed to act as cashiers and
enthusiastic spokespeople who will inform and/or better acquaint patrons and inquirers about the
mission and goals of salespeople, not only selling the merchandise but telling people about Dress for
