  7. 7. TALENT SELECTION Ongoing process of identifying at various stages :- individuals who demonstrate prerequisite levels of performance. TALENT DEVELOPMENT Providing athletes with a suitable learning environment so that talent can be realised. TALENT IDENTIFICATION Recognizing current participants with the potential to become elite performers Talent Detection Discovery of potential performers who are not currently involved in the sport in question

  9. 9. Step I Aim: screening of children for basic training stage Screening done on the basis of :- 1.Health and physique 2.General physical performance capacity 3.Motives interests mental capabilities 4.Interests of parents etc.
  10. 10. Step-II After 3-4 years of basic training Aim:- selection for a group of sports (Advance training stage ) Selection based on the following A. Physique and Motor abilities B. Ability to tolerate load C. Performance D. Cognitive emotional and personality traits

  15. 15. Observation is the major key factor • Parents should be very observant of their child from a young age itself, to spot their areas of liking! Studies show that 90% of the human brain develops before the age of twelve. • Once these years pass away, the scope for enhancement of natural talents in children reduces greatly. • It is vital that the most is made out of the period before the age of twelve.
