  2. This training is designed to not only introduce social learning but also social media tools. It is our goal to improve the organization through utilizing social medial tools, which will increase productivity, moral, and information sharing. In order to do this you have to have an effective presentation, having awesome backgrounds, be able to engage your audience and to capture audience attention from the start.
  3. When thinking about social learning it is just that social. It is learning by observing others. It is paying close attention, being able to retain the information, attempting the behavior, and also the use of the modeled behavior (Drumwright, 2009). Just like with anything else there are going to be barriers to overcome. You have organizational culture, employee perceptions, and privacy and content concerns. Having social media is a great resource for training as it gives other avenues to help understand and retain the information in a different way. Ethical dilemmas would have to be considered just like in a regular class room setting. There has to be policies in place.
  4. Social learning can be used for problem solving by crowd sourcing content, being able to quickly share the information and have questions answered in a variety of ways and sources. Having social learning is going to have a positive affect on the perception when it comes to problems because it encourages the discussion. It allows for people to think, ask questions, and become part of the solution.
  5. Social learning through social media is going to help work towards organizational goals. There is a collaboration amongst teams, seeking the feedback and being able to share the information quickly. There has to have accountability with the social media to eliminate the perception of hierarchy and for it to be successful. With doing all of this it is going to build relationships and break down silos. It is going to encourage people to engage with others, build new relationships and partnerships, have in depth discussions and not be limited by time or space.
  6. Some of the tools that are being looked at are twitter and delicious. Twitter is a microblogging tool that allows for instant information, updates and finding information quickly. It builds new connections as well as concise conversations. Delicious is a social bookmarkiing tool that one can use for organizing and sharing websites amongst each other. You can search for relevant content with tags and also be able to organize FAQ and online manual pages.
  7. Facebook is an informal tool that allows for not only connecting with people but sharing news and updates. One can share information, pictures, videos and links. LinkedIn is more of a business focused site that allows for networking and group discussions. It can help build up a network, finding new information and reaching out for leads. One can find interesting or new information or technology and be able to share with their network as well.
  8. In conclusion having social learning and also adding in social media tools is going to give the organization a different experience when it comes to learning such as building connections, creating out of the box thinking, and a more interactive approach. Utilizing social media tools is a stepping stone to the foundation of social learning. It is going to create more opportunities for employees to feel more productive, have more self confidence and feel like they are part of the enhanced learning experience.
