- 3. DEFINITION OF THESE SYMBOLS Warm Front- A front along which an advancing mass of warm air rises over a mass of cold air. occluded Front- The front formed when a cold front occludes a warm front. Cold Front- The leading portion of a cold atmospheric air mass moving against and eventually replacing a warm air. Stationary Front a boundary between two different air masses , neither of which is strong enough to replace the other. Isobar- A line on a weather map connecting points of equal atmospheric pressure. Also called isopiestic. Precipitation- rain, snow, or hail: rain, snow, or hail
- 5. WEATHER MAP INFORMATION Meteorologists gather information about current weather and use computers to make predictions about future weather patterns. Meteorologist also use the symbols to show the weather patterns. When they gather the data it is recorded on a map using combinations of symbols forming a station model. Even tho they cannot always predict the weather because it changes rapidly, they use the symbols on the weather to show the weeks forcast.
