organization of your choice. The organization can be any type of health
care organization such as a hospital, nursing home, rehabilitation center,

declining reimbursements from insurance providers and increasing
demands for patient services due to dramatic changes in the external
environment. Such changes include those imposed by the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Your first step in evaluating the position of your organization will be
conducting an environmental analysis. The purpose of this is to
determine your organization’s ability to continue to provide quality care
and remain financially solvent in the face of these challenges.
Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:
Determine two (2) specific forces in the external environment that will
have the most impact on your organization. Provide a rationale for your
decision.
Determine two (2) specific internal factors that the organization’s
leaders need to consider in preparing for the future of health care and the
future of the organization. Provide a rationale for your decision.
Discuss the impact of both the identified internal and external forces on
the organization’s ability to develop a competitive strategy.
Recommend one (1) strategy that involves the organization’s managers
in implementing and maintaining the momentum of the strategic plan.
Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment.

3. Outline three (3) service delivery and three (3) support components
that will be necessary elements of the organization’s value chain geared
toward achieving the strategic goals that you identified. Examine, in

value chain that you identified are essential to the achievement of the
organization’s goals.
4. Suggest one (1) specific approach to maintaining the selected
adaptive strategy or strategies in order to ensure that the organization
achieves its mission and vision.

for the same organization (Note: Refer to the environmental analysis that
you completed as part of Assignment 1 and the strategies identified in
Assignment 2.)
Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you:
1. Select one (1) specific analytical tool that you can use to determine
whether or not the adaptive strategy or strategies selected for your
organization will be the most effective in helping the organization
achieve its goals. Propose the manner in which you would use this
analytical tool, and support your proposal with an example of its
proposed use.
2. Determine one (1) internal and one (1) external factor that you
discovered during the environmental analysis that could be a barrier to
the success of your proposed strategy or strategies. Recommend one (1)
solution to each of the barriers in question.
3. Determine the specific segment of the market that your
organization’s strategy or strategies will target.
4. Recommend whether pre-service, point-of-service, or after-service
activities would be the most effective approach in marketing your
strategy or strategies to the organization’s target customers. Support
your recommendation with examples of such effectiveness.
5. Propose the most effective manner in which the organization can
support its strategic direction within its culture and structure.
6. Determine the most effective manner in which each of the following
strategic resources can be instrumental in helping the organization to
achieve its strategic goals: finance, human resources, facilities, and IT.
Provide a specific example relevant to each resource to support your
response.
1. Evaluate how well the strategic plan you have developed aligns with
the organization’s mission and vision. Recommend three (3) specific
strategies to track the effectiveness of your strategic plan.
