In the text, firstly it talked about the critical regionalism and world culture that it is necessary to qualify
the term arriere-garde so as to diminish its critical scope from such conservative policies as Populism
or sentimental Regionalism with which it has often been associated. In the other hand, the
regionalism has dominated architecture in almost all countries at same time during the past two
centuries and a half. By way of general definition, we can say that it upholds the individual and local
architectonic features against more universal and abstract ones.
Besides that, it says that the critical regionalism has its limitation. From here, I agree that the
architecture has stopped there but not the limitation of the regionalism. I believe that the critical
regionalism that created by humans in the past is also can be create at any time. And the cause of
this because of the modern architecture nowadays. Modern architecture is too wide and too artistic,
it caused the architecture students today have no proper direction or position. It also caused the
architecture represent the art, the art can be anything whenever the designer says.
Also, it talked about the humanistic architecture of the future must pass, this is correct but the modern
architecture has already slices the layer of humanistic architecture. As you can see, some of the
competitions or educations have already started a topic in the other planet. Although Steven Hawking
says humans have 1000 years left on earth but we still cannot predict the future, why don’t we just
make today a better place and don’t make architecture become an art the misleading us among
ourselves.
The second one is about the resistance of the place-form that about the Megalopolis recognized as
such in 1962 by Jean Gottman, is about we are no longer able to maintain defined urban forms. I
strongly agree that The Human Condition that wrote by Arendt the only where men live so close
together that the potentialities for action are always present will power remain with the people and
the foundation of cities. I believe that the only way to form a city and become an urban form is when
peoples stay together for resources from that area and not about whether good or bad things
happening there. A urban city is still formed when different or unacceptable architecture for you are
there.
