2. Trappen van vergelijking
Bij vergelijkingen gebruik je vergrotende en de
overtreffende trap. Je voegt dan –er en –est toe aan het
bijvoeglijk naamwoord.
• great – greater – greatest
De meeste andere bijvoeglijke naamwoorden, die twee
lettergrepen of meer hebben, krijgen more en most:
• beautiful – more beautiful – most beautiful
• interesting – more interesting – most interesting
Let op! Eindigt een bijvoeglijk naamwoord van twee
lettergrepen op –y dan verandert de –y in –i:
• happy – happier – happiest
3. Sommige vormen hebben een eigen vorm:
good – better – best
bad – worse – worst
little – less – least
much – more – most
many – more – most
