1. Warning to the Harlot
and Her Harem
On April 15th, 1912.
The SS Californian radioed the Titanic, at
approximately 7 pm, to warn of an ice field, of
which the Californian nearly collided with herself.
Captain Stanley Lord, ordered the Californian to
stop for the night, concluding it was too dangerous
to proceed. As he was going off duty, he spotted
the Titanic's lights on the horizon, about 5 miles
away.
The SS Californian radioed Titanic again, warning
that they had stopped, and were surrounded by ice.
The Titanic's reply was "Shut Up! Shut Up! I am
Busy,"
The SS Californian shut down its wireless at 11:30
pm.
2. The Titanic struck the iceberg ten minutes later.
Rev 17:5
5 …MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF
HARLOTS...
Rev 18:4-8
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come
out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath
remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto
her double according to her works: in the cup which she
hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived
deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she
saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and
shall see no sorrow.
3. 8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and
mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned
with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
1Tim 5:6
6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
We find instruction not only to the mistress of
perdition but also to her playmates in the pursuit of
profane pleasure.
She that liveth in pleasure… & …my people be not
partakers of her sins.
Warning to the lost and saved.

Isa 47:7-9
4. 7 And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou
didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst
remember the latter end of it.
8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to
pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine
heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a
widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment
in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they
shall come upon thee in their perfection for the
multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great
abundance of thine enchantments.
Zeph 2:15
15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that
said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me:
how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to
lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
1)She is Unstable- Pr 5:6
Prov 5:6
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her
ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
5. 2)She Capitalizes on Momentary Weakness- Pr
7:25-26
Prov 7:25-26
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not
astray in her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many
strong men have been slain by her.
3)She has Seductive Evil Lips- Pr 2:16
Prov 2:16
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even
from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
Prov 5:3-5
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an
honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a
twoedged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on
hell.
Prov 7:11-14
6. 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in
her house:
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in
wait at every corner.)
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an
impudent face said unto him,
14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I
payed my vows.
Anyone can promise peace but only the prince of
peace can produce peace.
Prov 7:19
19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a
long journey:
Prov 7:21
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to
yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
4)She is a Gossip- 1Tim 5:13
1Tim 5:13
7. 13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about
from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers
also and busybodies, speaking things which they
ought not.
B. Her Infirmity- Rev 18:4, 8
Rev 18:4
4 …Come out of her, my people … that ye receive not of
her plagues.

burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth
her.
Gen 12:17 And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his
house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's
wife.
Exod 9:14-16 14 For I will at this time send all my
plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and
upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is
none like me in all the earth. 15 For now I will stretch
out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people
8. with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the
earth. 16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised
thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my
name may be declared throughout all the earth.
Lev 26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will
not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more
plagues upon you according to your sins.
Rev 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and
marvellous, seven angels having the seven last
plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Jer 50:13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall
not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every
one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and
hiss at all her plagues.
Rev 16:19-21
19 And the great city was divided into three parts,
and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon
came in remembrance before God, to give unto her
the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains
were not found.
9. 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of
heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and
men blasphemed God because of the plague of the
hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
Hos 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the
grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will
be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

hath remembered her iniquities.
Gen 18:20-21
20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and
Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very
grievous;
21 I will go down now, and see whether they have
done altogether according to the cry of it, which is
come unto me; and if not, I will know.
10. Jonah 1:2
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against
it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
II. The Convert of Corruption. Rev 18:4
Rev 18:4
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come
out of her, my people…
Jer 51:6-7
6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man
his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of
the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a
recompence.
7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand,
that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken
of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
2Cor 6:17-18
11. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye
separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
1Cor 10:21-23
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of
devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of
the table of devils.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger
than he?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not
expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify
not.
2Thess 2:12
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the
truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2Tim 3:4
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God;
12. What a contrast!
Pleasure instead of, and more than God.
There is sensuousness pleasure in the immoral
(where God is not) where there is no reverence, no
righteousness, no purity, no goodness.
Men love to worship before the shrine of pleasure
till they become idolaters, worshipping worldly
applause, fleshly satisfaction, and carnal joy.
We are created to love something. There is an
enthusiasm for evil. Men delight in sin, and so the
natural force, if not directed toward God, will
hasten his demise.
Prov 30:12
There is a generation that are pure in their own
eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Titus 3:3
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish,
disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures,
living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Luke 8:14
13. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which,
when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with
cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no
fruit to perfection.
III. The Preeminence of Purity. Rev 18:20
Rev 18:20
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles
and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
Rev 4:11
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour
and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy
pleasure they are and were created.
Prov 16:3-4
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts
shall be established.
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even
the wicked for the day of evil.
Matt 5:8
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
14. 2Sam 22:27
27 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with
the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.
Jas 4:8
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse
your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double
minded.
Jas 4:10
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he
shall lift you up.
1John 3:2-3
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth
himself, even as he is pure.

Ps 16:11
15. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is
fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for
evermore.
