Co-mission (subcontractor)
1Cor 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things…
1Cor 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the
world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthyto judge the smallest
matters?
1Cor 6:5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man
among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his
brethren?
The Commission for a Judge
2Chr 19
5 And he set judges in the land throughoutall the fencedcities of Judah,
city by city,
6 And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man,
but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.
7 Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do
it: for there is no iniquitywith the LORD our God, nor respect of persons,
nor taking of gifts.
8 Moreover in Jerusalemdid Jehoshaphatset of the Levites, and of the
priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the
LORD, and for controversies, when they returnedto Jerusalem.
9 And he chargedthem, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD,
faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
2. 10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in
their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment,
statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not
againstthe LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren:
this do, and ye shall not trespass.
11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the
LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for
all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal
courageously, andthe LORD shall be with the good.
I. The Charge v9, 5-6
2Chr 19:9 And he chargedthem, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the
LORD, faithfully, and with a perfectheart.
2Chr 19:5-6 5 And he set judges in the land throughoutall the fenced
cities of Judah, city by city,
6 And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man,
but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.
A. A Charge is a command: not a negotiation
Mark 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came runningtogether, he
rebuked the foul spirit, sayingunto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I
charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
1Tim 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, accordingto the
prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a
good warfare;
B. The Governmentalcharge:
Rom 13:6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's
ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Acts 16:24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the
inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
3. C. The collegiate Charge
1Tim 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other
doctrine,
1Tim 5:7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
1Tim 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the
elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferringone before
another, doing nothing by partiality.
D. The charge of Conversation
1Tim 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all
things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a
good confession; The life and words of a judge shouldreflect the maturity
of his position.
1Tim 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not
highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, butin the living God, who
giveth us richlyall things to enjoy;
E. The charge of conscience
2Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his
kingdom;
The Charge
II. The Cause v10 (the rationalizationof an extraordinary event)
Acts 28:19-20 19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to
appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak
with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even
their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
(the rationalization of an extraordinary event)
4. 2Chr 19:10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren
that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and
commandment, statutes and judgments…
1Sam 17:28-29 28 And Eliabhis eldest brother heardwhen he spake unto
the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why
camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in
the wilderness?I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for
thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
A. There is a cause to endure
Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
For this cause…
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in ChristJesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordainedthat we should walk in them.
Eph 2:21-22 21 In whom all the buildingfitly framedtogether groweth
unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through
the Spirit.
B. There is a cause to worship
Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
Eph 3:13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you,
which is your glory.
C. There is a cause for companionship
5. Eph 5:30-32 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his
bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall
be joinedunto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christand the church.
Eccl 4:9-10 9 Two are better than one; because they have a good
reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is
alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

III. The caution v10
2Chr 19:10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren
that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and
commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that
they trespass not againstthe LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and
upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.
A. Warn the sinner and saint for your sake
Ezek 3:18-21 18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surelydie; and
thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his
wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity;
but his blood will I require at thine hand.
19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor
from his wickedway, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast deliveredthy
soul.
20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and
commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die:
because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his
6. righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood
will I require at thine hand.
21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin
not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also
thou hast delivered thy soul.
Ezek 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any
person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood
will I requireat the watchman's hand.
B. Warn them for their sake
Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three
years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
1Thess 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly,
comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1) The wording of a true warning… wrath to come
2Chr 19:10 …ye shall even warn them that they trespass not againstthe
LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren…
2Chr 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him,
and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly,
and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon
thee from before the LORD.
Num 16:46 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein
from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the
congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath
gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
2) InnocentSouls you know will suffer
7. Josh 22:18-20 18 But that ye must turn away this day from followingthe
LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to
morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.
19 Notwithstanding, if the landof your possession be unclean, then pass
ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD'S
tabernacle dwelleth, andtake possession among us: but rebel not against
the LORD, nor rebel againstus, in buildingyou an altar beside the altar of
the LORD our God.
20 Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursedthing,
and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished
not alone in his iniquity.

of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of

you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.
Not merely courage of mind but of action.
Deal courageously or Take courage and do.
8. Josh 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou
divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give
them.
Josh 1:9 Have not I commandedthee? Be strong and of a good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest.
1Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Jesus.
the Lord

for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.
2Chr 15:2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me,
Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with
him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him,
he will forsake you.
Isa 1:19 If ye be 1

heard, and seen in me, 1

refuse at an undisclosed time you, will self-destruct.
9. Ps 149:5-9 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud
upon their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged
sword in their hand;
7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon
the people;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of
iron;
9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have
all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
