Jer 26:2
2) Thus saith the LORD;
Stand in the court of the LORD'S house,
and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which
come to worship in the LORD'S house,
all the words that I command thee to speak
unto them;
diminish not a word:

A Christian has two heroes,

2. Jesus the Word of God incarnate,
and the Word of God written.
Isa 53:12
12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with
the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the
strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto
death: and he was numbered with the
transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and
made intercession for the transgressors.
Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness,
and preach the baptism of repentance for the
remission of sins.
Matt 3:16-17
16) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the
heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the
Spirit of God descending like a dove, and
lighting upon him:

3. 17) And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The first step of obedience is elementary and
rewarded with the recognition of God’s
approval.
When God opens the windows of heaven to
bless you the Devil opens the pit of hell to
blast you… A Rogers
Matt 4:1
1) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
In our text it is the Spirit that leads and guides
the Son of Man into the Devils desert.

4. God does not do things the way man thinks he
should.
When he freed Israel from Egypt, he led them
the long way through the wilderness.
Gods’ way is in the red sea, and through the
furnace of affliction.
Ezek 3:10 Moreover he said unto me, Son
of man,
all my words that I shall speak unto thee
receive in thine heart, and hear with thine
ears.
Ezek 3:12 Then the spirit took me up, and I
heard behind me a voice of a great rushing,
saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD
from his place.
Look out, the heavens opened…

5. Ezek 3:14-15 14 So the spirit lifted me
up, and took me away, and I went in
bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the
hand of the LORD was strong upon me.
15 Then I came to them of the captivity at
Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar,
and I sat where they sat, and remained there
astonished among them seven days.
Jesus ministry has this same purpose,
he comes to those held captive and
leads captivity captive. But in Mathew
4 that is still 3 ½ years off.
Heb 5:8
8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he
obedience by the things which he suffered;
Luke 4:2
2) Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in
those days he did eat nothing: and when they
were ended, he afterward hungered.

6. The testing is the training. You don’t
workout because you are strong, that is what
makes you strong.

If these temptations are evenly spaced, the
tempter shows up every 13.3 days.
Help God out
Hurry things up, everyone will benefit from it.
The lust of the flesh (food)

7. Matt 4:3
3) And when the tempter came to him, he said,
If thou be the Son of God, command that these
stones be made bread.
He will do this for Israel in the Tribulation,
but this is not the time for that.
Exod 16:15 And when the children of
Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is
manna: for they wist not what it was. And
Moses said unto them, This is the bread
which the LORD hath given you to eat.
Ps 74:14-16 14 Thou brakest the heads of
leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be
meat to the people inhabiting the
wilderness. 15 Thou didst cleave the
fountain and the flood: thou driedst up
mighty rivers. 16 The day is thine, the night

and the sun.
Ps 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable:
I will utter dark sayings of old:
Ps 78:24 And had rained down manna
upon them to eat, and had given them of the
corn of heaven.
Ps 107:33-36 33 He turneth rivers into a
wilderness, and the watersprings into dry
ground; 34 A fruitful land into barrenness,
for the wickedness of them that dwell
therein. 35 He turneth the wilderness into a
standing water, and dry ground into
watersprings. 36 And there he maketh the
hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a
city for habitation;

9. Isa 27:1 In that day the LORD with his
sore and great and strong sword shall punish
leviathan the piercing serpent, even
leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall
slay the dragon that is in the sea.
John 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave
you not that bread from heaven; but my
Father giveth you the true bread from
heaven.
Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the
wilderness, where she hath a place prepared
of God, that they should feed her there a
thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Rev 12:14-16 14 And to the woman were
given two wings of a great eagle, that she
might fly into the wilderness, into her place,
where she is nourished for a time, and times,

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth
water as a flood after the woman, that he

and the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed up the flood which the dragon

Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it
were wounded to death; and his deadly
wound was healed: and all the world
wondered after the beast.
The Answer
It is written, every word of God
Mat 4:4;Luke 4:4
Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone,

11. but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of God.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying,
It is written, That man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word of God.
Time= perceived enemy of pleasure and
productivity.
We need to place more importance on “every
word of God” than every second of the clock.
To God your time is wasted unless He is
directing it. God has a buyback program for
wasted hours.
Eph 5:16-17
16 Redeeming the time, because the days
are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but
understanding what the will of the Lord
is.

12. Col 4:5-6 5 Walk in wisdom toward them
that are without, redeeming the time.
6 Let your speech be alway with grace,
seasoned with salt, that ye may know how
ye ought to answer every man.
The only way to qualify for proper time
management is “Every Word of God”.
Deut 6:6-9 6 And these words, which I
command thee this day, shall be in thine
heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them
diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of
them when thou sittest in thine house, and
when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon
thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets
between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write

13. them upon the posts of thy house, and on
thy gates.
Deut 11:18 Therefore shall ye lay up these
my words in your heart and in your soul,
and bind them for a sign upon your hand,
that they may be as frontlets between your
eyes.
Prov 30:6 Add thou not unto his words,
lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a
liar.
Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass
away, but my words shall not pass away.
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered
him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast
the words of eternal life.

14. John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto
him, If a man love me, he will keep my
words: and my Father will love him, and we
will come unto him, and make our abode
with him.
Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne
said, Behold, I make all things new. And he
said unto me, Write: for these words are true
and faithful.
Rev 22:18-19 18 For I testify unto every
man that heareth the words of the prophecy
of this book, If any man shall add unto these
things, God shall add unto him the plagues
that are written in this book: 19 And if any
man shall take away from the words of the
book of this prophecy, God shall take away
his part out of the book of life, and out of
the holy city, and from the things which are
written in this book.

15. The Devil demonstrated he knew some of Gods’
words but he didn’t know enough of them to
know the will of God.
Your love for Jesus is in direct relation to your
love for Gods’ words.
Perfect
Matt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as
your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect
law of liberty, and continueth therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of
the work, this man shall be blessed in his
deed.
Eternal
Ps 90:2 Before the mountains were brought
forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth

everlasting, thou art God.
Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass
away, but my words shall not pass away.
Light
1John 1:5 This then is the message which
we have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness
at all.
Ps 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto
my feet, and a light unto my path.
Spirit
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship him in spirit and
in truth.

17. John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I
speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are
life.
Received
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to
them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name:
Mark 4:20 And these are they which are
sown on good ground; such as hear the
word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit,
some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an
hundred.

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and
receiveth not my words, hath one that
judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day.

18. 1Sam 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of
witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity
and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the
word of the LORD, he hath also rejected
thee from being king.

2Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before
God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall
judge the quick and the dead at his
appearing and his kingdom;
John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and

Sanctify
1Thess 5:23 And the very God of peace
sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy

Cleansing
Matt 8:2-3 2 And, behold, there came a
leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if
thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And
Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him,
saying, I will; be thou clean. And
immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Powerful
Luke 9:43 And they were all amazed at the
mighty power of God. But while they
wondered every one at all things which
Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick,
and powerful, and sharper than any
twoedged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of
the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of
the thoughts and intents of the heart.

24. Pure
Ps 18:26 With the pure thou wilt shew
thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt
shew thyself froward.
Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure
words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times.
