ABOUT US
The CSR Training Institute began from a
lifelong passion for developing ground-
breaking ways that business can serve
both shareholders and society.
We are a small, committed team fo-
cused on helping organizations of all
types to create and capture value at the
intersection of business and society.
We do this by:
Providing consulting, communication
and advisory services to business,
government, NGOs and multi-lateral
and international organizations;
Developing and delivering training
programs and events that motivate,
inspire and transform people and
organizations;
Sharing knowledge and information
through writings, lectures and key-
note presentations;
Our work is all about creating shareholder
and societal value, simultaneously.
Rather than asking the world to come
to us, our services and programs are
available for delivery world-wide, our
writings are shared freely and we are
available for speaking and keynote en-
gagements worldwide.
Our work is not for anyone who wants
a prescriptive, cookie-cutter, formu-
laic approach. We help clients develop
strategies and solutions that make long-
term, value and sustainability impacts.
Consulting, communication and adviso-
ry services clients will work hand in hand
with us to co-discover and co-create
new ways of building and maintaining
shareholder and societal value.
We don’t do quick fixes or superficial
work. Organizations wanting ‘window
dressing’ or a ‘quick fix’ do not tend to
benefit from our services.

3. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
3
The world has changed. Shareholder
value is increasingly linked with societal
value. This is becoming a dominant re-
ality across industries, geographies and
sectors.
The space where business meets soci-
ety is growing in importance and be-
coming a key source of competitive ad-
vantage for organizations of all types.
Our mission is to help businesses and
organizations thrive in this new reality;
efficiently creating value for sharehold-
ers and society.
We are uniquely qualified to provide a
customized blend of consulting, strat-
egy and training services, helping to
transform organizations and teams. We
use an advisory services approach to
work with teams, groups and entire or-
ganizations to help with strategic and
operational issues and integrate that
with customized training to help turn
challenges into opportunities. Some ex-
amples include:
FRESH-EYES REVIEWS
We have consistently found that an ex-
perienced set of ‘fresh-eyes’ can build on
existing work and knowledge and bring
new perspectives to the complex and in-
terwoven sets of risks, opportunities and
issues that modern business operates in.
This is true whether you are dealing with
the evolving social and regulatory envi-
ronment of an extractive sector project
or the intricate combination of supply-
chain issues, brand management and
consumer desires that drive success in
fast moving consumer goods.
FINDING THE VALUE
CSR and sustainability spending is of-
ten more focused on societal value than
shareholder value. This leaves money
on the table. We help companies to cre-
ate and capture more shareholder value
from existing CSR and sustainability
programs.
CSR SWOT – DISCOVER RISK, VALUE
AND MORE
CSR budgets, requirements and exter-
nal expectations have increased astro-
nomically in recent years. At the same
time the depth and breadth of stake-
holder groups and related interest has
continued to grow.
CSR and Sustainability are
significant costs to modern
corporations in many sec-
tors. And failure to ‘get it
right’ is a huge risk with po-
tentially devastating impacts
on brand, projects, careers
and even companies.
A CSR SWOT analysis can help orga-
nizations to discover risk and value
and simply be more efficient at con-
verting CSR budgets to shareholder
and societal value.
STRATEGIC CSR PLANNING AND
IMPLEMENTATION
We work with Boards and Executives to
review, or we can assist with implemen-
tation including executive support, field
implementation, training and mentor-
ing, or create a strategic CSR plan for
their organization.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Strategy, structure and process are key
to stakeholder engagement. We can
provide a range of implementation sup-
port including execution and custom-
ized training and mentoring. We work
with organizations to review their strat-
egy, structure and process, helping to
identify enhancement opportunities.
CSR PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
CSR Partnerships can be an efficient
means to deliver both developmental
value to the community and value to
the organization. Whether it is a busi-
ness partnering with a development
partner, a government ministry partner-
ing with industry or other partnerships
there is a potential for synergy and im-
proved and broadened value creation.
We can work with your organization to
review/develop your CSR partnership
strategy and then work with your team
to identify and develop specific part-
nerships.
Utilizing a combination of advisory ser-
vices and training ensures that your or-
ganization is well positioned to identify
and develop these important partner-
ships on an ongoing basis.
CSR REPORTING & COMMUNICATIONS
Reporting and communications are criti-
cal to realizing value from CSR invest-
ments and activities and, when done
properly, involve the entire organization.
We can help an organization to review
their CSR Reporting and Communi-
cations, identify opportunities for in-
creased efficiency and value creation
and then help train key people to maxi-
mize value and benefits going forward.
We can also assist with the develop-
ment of standard or stand-alone reports
and with developing internal capac-
ity to develop these reports and, more
importantly, integrate them into a value
creation strategy (rather than an energy
and value draining strategy which is of-
ten the norm with CSR reporting)
SOCIAL VALUE BRAND ANALYSIS
Your business has a ‘social value brand’
whether you know it or not. It can help
you to create value, or it can be a drag
and cost you value. We can help you to
understand your social value brand and
use it to create shareholder value.
IN-HOUSE TRAINING/SEMINARS
We can work with you to design and
implement in-house training programs,
seminars and learning events. These
can be delivered at project sites, at cor-
porate retreats and events or other lo-
cations as desired.
LECTURES AND KEYNOTES
Our lectures and keynotes can help
educate, motivate and stimulate your
organization or your team. We are
available to deliver custom designed
content for corporate retreats, strat-
egy sessions, team meetings or other
events worldwide
CSR EVENTS
We can work with you and your organi-
zation to develop and deliver custom-
ized and strategic CSR events on a na-
tional, international and global scale.
The CSR Training Institute has a world-
class team and unparalleled global
experience and expertise. We would
welcome the opportunity to discuss
how we could help you and your orga-
nization achieve your CSR and sustain-
ability objectives. Contact us today.

Wayne’s initial work on what came to be known as CSR began in northern Saskatch-
ewan in the late 1980s, working with indigenous peoples and the mining industry.
Early notable accomplishments include facilitating the first ever agreement between
a mining company and an Indigenous organization (Corona Gold / Reindeer Region
Economic Development Corporation), facilitating collaboration between the outfit-
ting industry and indigenous fishing communities and assisting the Uranium mining
industry (including Cameco) to develop and implement a highly successful CSR and
social license strategy (see report here and case study here). His pioneering work in
Indigenous development is outlined here.
Over the past two decades he has organized numerous international events, round
tables and development sessions including at the United Nations, World Bank and
Inter-American Development Bank. He has worked on and led over 70 CSR projects
spanning the globe a few of which are cited below.
Note that most of the projects share common themes including extractive sector
CSR, multi-sector CSR partnerships, next generation CSR, creating and transferring
global best practices, etc… To see more of Wayne’s project experience click here.
