Travel to China, the Amazon Rainforest, Australia, and Egypt
Get ready to take a trip back in time to ancient China. After reading Grandfather Tang's
Story by Ann Tompert, we’ll explore interactive websites, learn how to
play the ancient Chinese puzzle tangrams, and create our own tangram
designs on the computer. Next stop is the Amazon
Rainforest in South America. There we'll explore the
animals and layers of the rainforest, and design our own
rainforest T-shirt with Pixie paint program. Then it's off to
Australia to learn about the dot painting art of Australia's indigenous
population. Aboriginal art is one of the world's oldest continuing art traditions.
We'll recreate it in a technological age. Finally, it's off to ancient Egypt to view examples
of Egyptian writing and discuss how the symbols and pictures represent letters. Campers
then design a personalized Cartouche with their name spelled in hieroglyphics.
Campers will bring home a project each day!
Extended Care is available on a daily basis from 8 - 9 am at an additional cost.
