  8. 8. Christian Approach to the Differently Abled Christian Approach to the Differently Abled 2 Samuel 9:1-12 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Matthew 15:29-31 Mephibosheth and Me Forgiveness and restoration are provided for all in salvation. We, like Mephibosheth, were born into a fallen dynasty. Like Mephibosheth, we were by lineage under the sentence of exile and death. And, like Mephibosheth, we could do nothing to help ourselves out of our Predicament Believing and receiving are all that is required for salvation. We cannot earn our salvation by good works, giving to charity or by anything to earn God’s favor. Believing and receiving are all that is required for salvation. Our crippled feet are covered forever ! Ephesians 2:6-7 says, “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” The Lord meets the spiritual and physical needs of His followers. The Lord still heal people today -- but if He chooses to not literally heal your physical illness or difficulty, He can restore your soul so that you can live with that physical handicap.
  9. 9. Voluntary Evangelist’s Day – Carriers of the Gospel The Call of Abram (Genesis 12:1-9) 12 Now the Lord said[a] to Abram, “Go from your country[b] and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”[c] The Great Commission (Mathew 28:16-20) 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”, Voluntary Evangelist’s Day – Carriers of the Gospel Genesis 12:1-9 (The call of Abraham) and Mathew 28:16-20 (The great commission) 1. The promise to Abraham 1. God would make him a great nation 2. The promise of a land 3. The promise of a blessing which would spill over to all mankind. 2. The above promise is fulfilled in the past, present and in the future 1. Past: Israel the people and the land 2. Present: It is through Abraham’s descendant ‘Jesus’ that the blessing would spill over to the whole world 3. Future: Final fulfillment (John’s vision in Revelation – a great multitude ‘redeemed’ from every tribe, language…in heaven) 3. Now we are Abraham’s seed by faith, and the earth’s families will be blessed only if we go to them with the gospel. Lord Teach us to obey you
  10. 10. Holy Qurbana: Sacrament of Thanksgiving 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for[a] you. Do this in remembrance of me.”[b] 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. 27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.[c] Holy Qurbana: Sacrament of Thanksgiving 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 1. The Lord’s Supper proclaims the finished work of Christ 2. A reminder of our continuing need for the gift of new life and forgiveness the Supper celebrates 3. The blessings of the New Covenant are extended to all believers
  11. 11. Gray Hair: Crown of Glory” Senior Citizen Day Treasure in Jars of Clay 2Cor 4:7-18 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you. 13 Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. 16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self 4 is wasting away, our inner self his being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal Gray Hair: Crown of Glory” Senior Citizen Day Treasure in Jars of Clay 2Cor 4:7-18 1. The valuable treasure is the message of the cross, the gospel, the messengers are ordinary containers. 2. But, as a messenger of the gospel, we will be assaulted and broken and tried. Only broken jars can show for the light that is inside – the light of the gospel 3. The secret for the suffering and the dying is to renew each day

Hebrews 4:16 Theological Education: To Strengthen the Faith John 12:20-26 23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Galatians 6:14: “the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Romans 12:1: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
