Project- Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Improvements of Water Supply Transmission
Main, Distribution System and Water Management Plan at Vellore Corporation
Vellore Corporation limit has been expanded to 87.915 sq.km with the census population of
5.04 lakhs in the year 2011 and the projected population of 9.20 Lakhs at the end of year 2046
with the total expected demand of 142.77Mld. The Vellore corporation has the one of the oldest
and most complex distribution system in the state of Tamil Nadu having around 830.6 Km of
Pipe network with 152 Nos. of zones having 152 Nos. of Service reservoirs to cater the entire
corporation. The pumping main system consisting of 300 Km (165 Km existing & 135 Km
ongoing CWSS) together from at least 15 Nos. of large water sources to the Vellore City.
To prepare a justified long term investment plan to improve the existing water supply
distribution system and expansion of water supply distribution system to achieve continuous
(24x7) and equitable water supply to entire corporation area including preparation of re-zoning
distribution maps, detailed project reports and bid documents. Also study and integrate the
existing & ongoing Pumping system. The System has been proposed with effective 74.6 Km
pumping main in place existing 300 Km network and all pipe hydraulic and physically unfit for
3. 3
further use has been discarded and proposed with new DI pipes for a n extend of 693 Kms.
Project- Water Management Plan & Pilot Study at Arcot Municipality, Tamilnadu
Arcot Municipal limit extends to an area of 7.49 Sq.km area and divided into 30 Wards. The
population is 55917 as per 2011 censes.
The municipality area was fed with inequitable supply of water (alternate days) and poor
demand coverage. Hence, a water management plan has been prepared for immediate need and
to explore long term investment plan to expand the existing water supply system to meet the
future demand and suggest measures for the rehabilitation of water supply system for equal-
distribution of water supply in each part of the municipality including preparation of rezoning
distribution system maps and Detailed Project Reports
Planning, Procurement, Execution monitoring, creation of DMA’s, Installation of SCADA
system, Demonstration of equitable water supply from Pumping station to ELSR’s & from
ELSR to DMA’s within the Reservoir Zone, Analysis of UFW, Trail run of 24 x 7 water
supply, consumer satisfaction survey, performance enhancement of the water supply system in
the Pilot zones identified in Arcot Municipality. The total Demand was around 13.47 Mld at the
end of year 2046 for the project population of 82,200 and having 6,811 Nos. of consumers at
present.

Project- Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Water Supply Improvement in Distribution
System for extended areas of Coimbatore Corporation like Kavundampalayam, Veerakeralam,
Vadavalli and Interlinking of Pillur-II Scheme &Aliyar Water Supply Scheme
To prepare a justified long term investment plan to improve the existing water supply
distribution system and expansion of water supply distribution system to achieve continuous
(24x7) and equitable water supply to entire corporation area including preparation of re-zoning
distribution maps, detailed project reports and bid documents. As the higher population growth
(nearly more than 75 %) 85206 in Kadvundampalyam, 56862 Vadavalli, 21120 Veerakeralam
in the added areas of corporation has resulted in excess reliability rate on the existing
infrastructure namely water, sewer, drainage, roads, etc., in order to meet the growing
requirement. As added areas were only a municipality earlier, the infrastructure was serving the
population as per the capacity of municipality. As water supply is one of the primary key
indicative factors for the economic development, it was decided to take up the water supply
system first for Kavundampalayam added area of Coimbatore Corporation followed by other
infrastructure developments.
