2. AIM OF THE PROJECT
๏ Arthritis is a term used to describe any disorder that affects the joints.
๏ There are over 100 different types of Arthritis, with different causes and treatment methods
๏ Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and affects almost 237 million people globally.
๏ Although, there is no known cure for arthritis, early detection and treatment can surely be beneficial.
๏ Along with helping warn patients about the onset of osteoarthritis in their knees. This project also warns them
about the criticality of their disorder.
๏ Built using Django framework with Python as programming language and convolutional neural network as the
algorithm.
3. OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT
๏ Arthritis is a disorder that causes swelling, tenderness, inflammation, stiffness etc. in one or more joints.
Arthritis is more common in older people and typically worsens with age.
๏ While there are hundred different types of arthritis with different causes and treatments, osteoarthritis is
the most prevalent. Osteoarthritis is estimated to affect nearly 237 million people globally, this accounts
for almost 3.3% of the human population. Although as of now there is no known cure for arthritis, the
benefits of early detection canโt be understated.
๏ The Knee Osteoarthritis Detection helps patients detect Osteoarthritis in their knees. Along with helping
with early detection, this web application also detects the severity of the disorder.

5. EXISTING SYSTEM
Problem with existing system
๏ Under the current scenario, patients need to wait to get their X-rays manually examined by a
radiologist.
๏ Manually analyzing the X-Rays of multiple preparing a report for each patient consumes a lot of time.
๏ As the workload increases, it increases the amount of time required for processing of reports and can
even increase the margin of error.
6. PROPOSED SYSTEM
๏ Considering the anomalies in the existing system computerization of the whole activity is being suggested
after initial analysis.
๏ This project is developed using Django Framework with Python as a programming language.
๏ Proposed system is accessed by two entities namely, Admin and User.
๏ Admin need to login with their valid login credentials first in order to access the android application.
๏ After successful login, admin can access all the modules and perform/manage each task accurately.

applications. The huge Django web-framework comes with
so many โbatteries includedโ that developers often get
amazed as to how everything manages to work together.

10. CONCLUSION
This was our project of System Design about Knee Osteoarthritis Detection and its Severity developed in
Python programming language. The Development of this system takes a lot of efforts from us. We think this
system gave a lot of satisfaction to all of us. Though every task is never said to be perfect in this
development field even more improvement may be possible in this application. We learned so many things
and gained a lot of knowledge about development field. We hope this will prove fruitful to us
