BENOIT
The Gros Islet Constituency Branch of the United Workers Party is standing
in full solidarity with the family and friends of murdered teenager Chereece
Benoit a resident of the northern-most constituency. We share the grief of
the family and friends of a life, which was the embodiment of the quality
potential and youthful energy. The murder of Ms. Benoit robbed our nation
of a life that appeared destined to success and excellence.
We must mobilize our resources as a nation to arrest the senseless crime that
currently grips our communities and nation. We call on all residents of Gros
Islet and anyone with information leading to the capture of the perpetrator(s)
of this shameful murder to notify the police. The police need the full support
of all sections of our society at this time to fight the scourge of crime.
The murder of Chereece Benoit and the ongoing upsurge in violent crime is
a clear indication to our leaders that this is a national challenge that requires
a national response. The focus should now be on mobilizing the required
resources in a broad based alliance to tackle this growing menace of violent
crime that threatens to consume the peace and tranquility of our beloved
nation.
