My Role As a Group Member Essay
I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn
alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work
had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lecture–based approach and resisted
group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach.
However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively
when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting
and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project.
The original research question our group came up with was "How can an individual influence a

During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to
get information together without face–to–face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan
the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on the
topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power
point, and plan each other's section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours
and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to
get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when
people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize
each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at
making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing
I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated. For example, group work helped me to
stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is
because group work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just
reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to others and, frequently then, to do more
and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible

Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment
Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment by Jessica Lofton (Instructor) – Wednesday, 20 April 2016,

There are always multiple questions and concerns regarding peer assessments. So let's open a
discussion about the following:
1.What criteria do you consider to be of more importance? Ideas, proper English grammar or both?
Support your answer.
The mind that can generate ideas is very important but the use of proper English grammar is no less
significant. One of the main objectives of a University education is to develop the communication
skills of its students. An idea has no value when it cannot be expressed in the English language that is
most widely spoken in the world and it's the main language of the academia and scholarly
research. Proper skills in English grammar gives wings to ideas. The mind that can grow ideas is
high in demand but you need to know proper syntax of language to cultivate the idea. When a
University graduate speaks and writes English flawlessly he or she is leaving traces that can be
tracked back to his or her University education and perhaps leaving a mark in the history or a dent in
the Universe.
2.How would you assess a forum response or a peer assignment which is counter to your personal
values? What feedback would you give in this situation?...show more content...
This generates a plethora of views toward a single object or subject that gets engraved in our
psychology and becomes our personal values. I strongly believe that one should be completely open
to understanding and realize that there can be different views or approaches toward a single matter.
One should be egoless and comprehending to the counterpart in order understand the point of view.
Even, if then there are contradictions, one should analyze and discuss the topic with convincing
arguments that may lead to a uniform

Re: Missions Statement
Definition:
Anita Satterlee defines a missions statement as follows: "A mission statement is like an introductory
paragraph: it lets the reader know where the writer is going" (Satterlee, 2013).
Summary:
Mary Kneeling is a supervisor for library media services for Newport News, and she was a past
president of the Virginia association of school librarians. Mary has done a large amount of research
on the topic to compose a detailed article on mission statements. Mary Keeling begins her article by
defining what a mission statement is. She states "Mission statements define the nature, purpose, and
role of organizations; focus resources; and guide planning" (Kneeling, 2013). After defining and
explaining the purpose of a mission statement, Mary goes into detail on the purpose of a mission
statement. She explains that it can be used as a communication device. Mission statements, help to
motivate employees and have a reason behind the business that claims to it (Kneeling, 2013). After
these two steps Kneeling explains the different businesses that have put mission statements into
practice, and shows the examples of how they are beneficial to a company. (Word Count 154)
Discussion:
Mission statements can have a wide impact on a business as a whole. There are a vast majority of
articles written on this topic and many of them show that it is in favor of the business to create a
mission statement for themselves. In addition, mission

In this essay, what I understand is that conspiracy theorist is defined as a point o view by a topic
that lacks of unclear explanations. Any person who participates in the discussion with its own or
a different idea can fit into this category. Years ago, a lot of people from the United States and
Other countries did not understand how the twin towers went down completely if they were hit
from the top. The popular question was; did the us government is able to attack its citizens in
order to justify a war? I believed what other people believed. I believed that there were explosives
on the bottom of the towers; however, I did not believe that the us government was able to attack its
citizens and I still think the same, so I do not agree with

From a judiciary perspective, there has never been no specific designated cut off time in order to

Abstract
This essay will examine the advantages and disadvantages of disciplining children. Firstly, it will
consider the disadvantages of disciplining children in terms of injuries, children taking revenge and
broken relationships. Equally, it will consider the advantages of disciplining children in terms of
having more respectful children, appreciation and learning life lessons. Finally, the essay will
conclude that disciplining children will eventually lead to a better society in the future.
Children can be quite a handful to deal with at times. Disciplining children, no matter what methods
are used, will always come to mind. The concerning subject are the advantages and the disadvantages
that may concern people who are in authority...show more content...
Next, disciplining children will teach them about appreciation. Children may learn to value what is
given to them. For example, it can be assumed that consequences will arise when parents' instructions
are not followed.
Consequences work when the child is trying to get the parent 's attention by misbehaving and
when children fight, dawdle, and fail to do their chores. Consequences can be used to get
children to school on time, to meals on time, and to take responsibility for homework. The child
learns that if he doesn 't pick up his toys, he can 't go out and play; if he doesn 't wash his hands
before meals, he won 't be served any food; and if he fights with his brother while in the car, the car
will be stopped until calm resumes. (Telep 2009, N.P.)
Thus, children appreciating valuable things and understanding the consequences of misbehaviour is
an advantage when disciplining children.
Finally, life lessons can be learned through discipline. These life lessons can possibly determine the
child's future. For example, disciplining a child to complete school work before engaging in leisure
activities will teach the child the importance of education. Another example is disciplining a child
for being very careless, to prevent serious future injuries. Therefore, an advantage of disciplining
children is that children may learn very important life lessons through discipline.
The issues of disciplining children both have advantages and disadvantages. Though

Ted Talk Essay
When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but
we can't live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish
someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All
Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don't even realize it.
Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar's TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people
deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have
negative effects. Schwartz explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while
Iyengar shows cultural differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar...show more

The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third
assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three assumptions
with various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture. Her studies
help understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of the world.
Without doubt, Iyengard's studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz's was
clearer because it easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public.
Choices are an important part of everyone's lives and the choices we make can reflex who we are
as individuals. Choice and the ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of
freedom. Schwartz's and Iyengard's analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people
and how people react and deal with it. Schwartz's Official Dogma and explanation of how
Americans act in response to choice making is the most relatable to individuals and clearly chows
the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can assist to people realize that maybe because
we have more choice doesn't necessarily mean we will make us happier or the best decision will be
made. Understanding the consequences of too much choice can possibly make individuals improve
the negative effects it can have and make us happier with our

Developing A Philosophy For Discussions
As I approached the end of this course, I read the PPCC Online Campus article "Developing a
Philosophy for Discussions." Immediately, this was a perfect reference to help describe that one
overarching topic that encompasses all that I gleaned from this course. That one topic is
organization. The structure of this course, and the discussions in each module, and how each built
upon skills and topics learned, allowed me to understand a great online tool to have, organization. In
the article, "Developing a Philosophy for Discussion," (PPCC Online Campus article) the author
breaks down the, "...role of the online facilitator across four forms of interaction..." These are the

Finally, developing an excellent round of questions that promote and further discussions and
critical thinking. With these new tools, I can ensure a successful online course to offer in the
spring 2015 session, and I can immediately apply these tools to my fall 2014 classroom sessions
for greater student learning and success. I'd like to begin with rubrics, and the rubrics I currently
use compared to some of the examples gleaned from my peers in the discussion boards. All of my
assignments have an attached grading sheet. This outlines where points are divided among specific
items such as following direction, mastery of a skill or technique, creativity (photo project) or
content (essay) and presentation. Students know what is expected, however, sometimes I think that
certain categories such as content, can be subjective and ambiguos. Having said that, I read several
of the peer rubrics provided and found wonderful examples for ways to make that grading more
specific, and less open to argument from the student. For example, the Grading Rubric for PHI–111
Research Paper, provided by Carolyn Brown in Module 5/Discussion 1, has a good breakdown of
the content section of a research paper into categories including Thought, Details and

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

barrier preventing them from communicating effectively with their patients (Chan et al, 2012). One

What I Have Learned Essay
What I Have Learned
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in
this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe
that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to
also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I
could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted
anymore.
I also feel that maturing counts as learning for me because growing up I was continuously being
called immature. For me, maturing counts as learning because I find myself doing things I never

I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for
everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel
that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on
any test I take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to
learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value
of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I
took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My
attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted.
In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating
me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning
new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that
I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually
yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is
teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning

Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to
prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing
especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits
in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and
assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will
improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different
point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting
feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me
improve.
Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on
more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I
disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the
way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point.
Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative
with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps
writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this
is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole
essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that
helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was
one of the easiest things about writing the essay.
Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a
teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of
protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the
essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic
errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't

Reflection : What I Have Learned In The Class
Introduction
What I have learned in this class? It is my first question that I have asked myself. It is my first
experience to have a blended class just like FYS 001 at West Coast University. I have never taken
the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I
have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is
an advantage to know whom I am talking to when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I
have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets
twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class
discussion board and a lot of related learning reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few
new materials which I have learned so far from the course.
What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in
making decision topic. As an individual has to make decisions daily, the person needs to make a
better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors
and basic process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the
person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for the alternative ways. Then, the
individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). There are many
factors which have been involved in the process.

Challenges That I Face As Writer Essay
As a writer there are many elements of writing that I struggle with, especially when composing an

I am looking to improve on this challenge as a writer by focusing on explaining my quotes and

upon endlessly by minimizing your challenges as a writer. In writing an essay I also struggle with
incorporating clear topic sentences and connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis
statement. This struggle is based on last years' experience with writing essays. This struggle can
be improved upon by concentrating on what exactly my thesis is stating and building my
sentences to relate and explain the thesis further. Improving on this will allow my writing ability
to increase and help me become a more successful writer. When composing an essay, or journal
entry, or just plain writing, I struggle as a writer with avoiding awkward or wordy phases in my

Personal Reflection On Group Work
Personal Reflection
"Group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning that
enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually".
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not
always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made
sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and
happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas
from one another and making it into one. My feelings about the group process was a little mix at
first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were
all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas
started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other
group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don't overthink everything. The things
I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on
a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a
point of time I was kind of second guessing another idea. I feel that you have to have trust in your
group member to make it effective.

At the beginning of the semester, I wasn't sure about my major option. Entering Fresno State as a
transfer student, I declared my major as Business Administration with the option of
Entrepreneurship. Even though I had declared my option, I was also considering Marketing. The
classes in the Entrepreneurship option didn't excite me as the classes in Marketing did. With that,
I changed my option to Marketing. The cover letter assignment also helped me make my decision
to change my major option. Because I was still considering Marketing at that time, I had no clue
which positions I would like to have in the future. While I researched, the job position for a market

Essay on Self Evaluation on Group Discussion
The group discussion has just passed, and it was really a hard work and challenging. There were
many precious lessons I got, and, hopefully, so did with my friends. Our group was consisting of
four students. As a quantity, reasonably, we had had enough power to do a better work and gained a
satisfying result. As I flashed back to the group discussion, it was enriching my memories. Some
were in high spirit, remarkable and enjoyable. Opposite to it, few were disappointing.
I still remembered that when we directed for the first meeting everyone was very enthusiastic and

When Two People Argue A Discussion Analysis
When two people argue, their biggest concern is being right. Arguing elevates a situation so that the
parties are no longer concerned with what is right, they just want to win. Voices become raises and
soon no one is listening to the other person, they are just interested in hearing their own voice.
Nothing good can come from this.
What happens when you discuss?
When two people engage in a discussion, voices remain calm. Each person hears the other person

How can you discuss something with someone you disagree with?
Discussing something with a person you are disagreeing with is not as difficult as you might think.

People often come across research in everyday life or are curious about a topic and decide to
conduct their own research. Identify a time you wanted to research something and explain how you
performed the research and what you learned as a result. How can you apply this experience to your
own academic research?
This scenario often happens to me. I will hear someone talking about something I am unfamiliar

Discussion Question 5 What type of information would you include in a research plan? How will
this information guide you as you begin your project?
A research plan is intended to encourage others that you have a valuable research assignment and
that you have the intelligence to see it though. A research plan should include all the essentials in
the research method and contain enough information for the reader to assess the proposed subject.
Your research and the method you prefer, the research must address the following questions: What
you plan to achieve, why you desire to do it and how you are going to do it. The plan should have
enough details to persuade the reader that you have a solid research plan; you have an understanding
of the important information and that your approach is sound. The value of your research plan
depends not just on the quality of your assignment, but also on the quality of your research plan. A
good research assignment could be subject to scrutiny or rejection just because the plan is not
written well. This motivates me to develop a research plan that is logical, understandable, and
convincing. This paper focuses on proposal writing rather than on the development of research

Writing A Discussion Essay

  • 1. My Role As a Group Member Essay I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lecture–based approach and resisted group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach. However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project. The original research question our group came up with was "How can an individual influence a ...show more content... During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to get information together without face–to–face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on the topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power point, and plan each other's section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated. For example, group work helped me to stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is because group work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to others and, frequently then, to do more and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment by Jessica Lofton (Instructor) – Wednesday, 20 April 2016, 9:01 AM There are always multiple questions and concerns regarding peer assessments. So let's open a discussion about the following: 1.What criteria do you consider to be of more importance? Ideas, proper English grammar or both? Support your answer. The mind that can generate ideas is very important but the use of proper English grammar is no less significant. One of the main objectives of a University education is to develop the communication skills of its students. An idea has no value when it cannot be expressed in the English language that is most widely spoken in the world and it's the main language of the academia and scholarly research. Proper skills in English grammar gives wings to ideas. The mind that can grow ideas is high in demand but you need to know proper syntax of language to cultivate the idea. When a University graduate speaks and writes English flawlessly he or she is leaving traces that can be tracked back to his or her University education and perhaps leaving a mark in the history or a dent in the Universe. 2.How would you assess a forum response or a peer assignment which is counter to your personal values? What feedback would you give in this situation?...show more content... This generates a plethora of views toward a single object or subject that gets engraved in our psychology and becomes our personal values. I strongly believe that one should be completely open to understanding and realize that there can be different views or approaches toward a single matter. One should be egoless and comprehending to the counterpart in order understand the point of view. Even, if then there are contradictions, one should analyze and discuss the topic with convincing arguments that may lead to a uniform Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Discussion Board Thread : Mission Statement Discussion Board Thread Re: Missions Statement Definition: Anita Satterlee defines a missions statement as follows: "A mission statement is like an introductory paragraph: it lets the reader know where the writer is going" (Satterlee, 2013). Summary: Mary Kneeling is a supervisor for library media services for Newport News, and she was a past president of the Virginia association of school librarians. Mary has done a large amount of research on the topic to compose a detailed article on mission statements. Mary Keeling begins her article by defining what a mission statement is. She states "Mission statements define the nature, purpose, and role of organizations; focus resources; and guide planning" (Kneeling, 2013). After defining and explaining the purpose of a mission statement, Mary goes into detail on the purpose of a mission statement. She explains that it can be used as a communication device. Mission statements, help to motivate employees and have a reason behind the business that claims to it (Kneeling, 2013). After these two steps Kneeling explains the different businesses that have put mission statements into practice, and shows the examples of how they are beneficial to a company. (Word Count 154) Discussion: Mission statements can have a wide impact on a business as a whole. There are a vast majority of articles written on this topic and many of them show that it is in favor of the business to create a mission statement for themselves. In addition, mission Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Any person who participates in the discussion with its own or a different idea can fit into this category. Years ago, a lot of people from the United States and Other countries did not understand how the twin towers went down completely if they were hit from the top. The popular question was; did the us government is able to attack its citizens in order to justify a war? I believed what other people believed. I believed that there were explosives on the bottom of the towers; however, I did not believe that the us government was able to attack its citizens and I still think the same, so I do not agree with Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Example Of Discussion Essay Chapter 4 Discussion, Conclusion, and Recommendations "This increase of power from the mere musket and the little cannon all the way to the hydrogen bomb in a single lifetime is indicative of the things that have happened to us. They indicate how far the advances of science have outraced our social consciousness, how much we have developed scientifically than we are capable of handling emotionally and intellectually." –Dwight D. Eisenhower Discussion We no longer have our eyes focused on what is happening beyond our borders, we now have an emerging problem with radicalized, naturalized Americans citizens who are composed of a variety of groups. The groups are defended and guaranteed by the U. S. • 6. Sample: How to Write a Discussion Essay Abstract This essay will examine the advantages and disadvantages of disciplining children. Firstly, it will consider the disadvantages of disciplining children in terms of injuries, children taking revenge and broken relationships. Equally, it will consider the advantages of disciplining children in terms of having more respectful children, appreciation and learning life lessons. Finally, the essay will conclude that disciplining children will eventually lead to a better society in the future. Children can be quite a handful to deal with at times. Disciplining children, no matter what methods are used, will always come to mind. The concerning subject are the advantages and the disadvantages that may concern people who are in authority...show more content... Next, disciplining children will teach them about appreciation. Children may learn to value what is given to them. For example, it can be assumed that consequences will arise when parents' instructions are not followed. Consequences work when the child is trying to get the parent 's attention by misbehaving and when children fight, dawdle, and fail to do their chores. Consequences can be used to get children to school on time, to meals on time, and to take responsibility for homework. The child learns that if he doesn 't pick up his toys, he can 't go out and play; if he doesn 't wash his hands before meals, he won 't be served any food; and if he fights with his brother while in the car, the car will be stopped until calm resumes. (Telep 2009, N.P.) Thus, children appreciating valuable things and understanding the consequences of misbehaviour is an advantage when disciplining children. Finally, life lessons can be learned through discipline. These life lessons can possibly determine the child's future. For example, disciplining a child to complete school work before engaging in leisure activities will teach the child the importance of education. Another example is disciplining a child for being very careless, to prevent serious future injuries. Therefore, an advantage of disciplining children is that children may learn very important life lessons through discipline. The issues of disciplining children both have advantages and disadvantages. • 7. Ted Talk Essay When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but we can't live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don't even realize it. Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar's TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have negative effects. Schwartz explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while Iyengar shows cultural differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar...show more content... The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three assumptions with various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture. Her studies help understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of the world. Without doubt, Iyengard's studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz's was clearer because it easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public. Choices are an important part of everyone's lives and the choices we make can reflex who we are as individuals. Choice and the ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of freedom. Schwartz's and Iyengard's analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people and how people react and deal with it. Schwartz's Official Dogma and explanation of how Americans act in response to choice making is the most relatable to individuals and clearly chows the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can assist to people realize that maybe because we have more choice doesn't necessarily mean we will make us happier or the best decision will be made. Immediately, this was a perfect reference to help describe that one overarching topic that encompasses all that I gleaned from this course. That one topic is organization. The structure of this course, and the discussions in each module, and how each built upon skills and topics learned, allowed me to understand a great online tool to have, organization. I'd like to begin with rubrics, and the rubrics I currently use compared to some of the examples gleaned from my peers in the discussion boards. All of my assignments have an attached grading sheet. This outlines where points are divided among specific items such as following direction, mastery of a skill or technique, creativity (photo project) or content (essay) and presentation. Students know what is expected, however, sometimes I think that certain categories such as content, can be subjective and ambiguos. Having said that, I read several of the peer rubrics provided and found wonderful examples for ways to make that grading more specific, and less open to argument from the student. For example, the Grading Rubric for PHI–111 Research Paper, provided by Carolyn Brown in Module 5/Discussion 1, has a good breakdown of the content section of a research paper into categories including Thought, Details and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. • 12. Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve. Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay. Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is my first experience to have a blended class just like FYS 001 at West Coast University. I have never taken the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is an advantage to know whom I am talking to when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class discussion board and a lot of related learning reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few new materials which I have learned so far from the course. What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in making decision topic. As an individual has to make decisions daily, the person needs to make a better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors and basic process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for the alternative ways. Then, the individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). • 16. Personal Reflection On Group Work Personal Reflection "Group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning that enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually". Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas from one another and making it into one. My feelings about the group process was a little mix at first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don't overthink everything. The things I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a point of time I was kind of second guessing another idea. I feel that you have to have trust in your group member to make it effective. • 17. A.First Day of Class Introduction Letter Discussion At the beginning of the semester, I wasn't sure about my major option. Entering Fresno State as a transfer student, I declared my major as Business Administration with the option of Entrepreneurship. Even though I had declared my option, I was also considering Marketing. The classes in the Entrepreneurship option didn't excite me as the classes in Marketing did. With that, I changed my option to Marketing. The cover letter assignment also helped me make my decision to change my major option. Because I was still considering Marketing at that time, I had no clue which positions I would like to have in the future. While I researched, the job position for a market research analysist popped up. I read the description and to my surprise, it matched my interest! By completing this assignment, I learned what skills and experience I need to gain. I'm excited for next semester, since I will begin taking Marketing courses. In my letter, I talked about my high school, which emphasized on presentation and communication skills. I attended Duncan Polytechnical High School. Duncan is known for its Portfolio Day event and career training program. Every year, Duncan hosts a Portfolio Day event where students are dressed in professional interview style attire and present their portfolio to a community member. The community member is a volunteer who could be a local business owner, previous student, etc. They provide constructive feedback Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some were in high spirit, remarkable and enjoyable. Opposite to it, few were disappointing. I still remembered that when we directed for the first meeting everyone was very enthusiastic and really keened to do it sooner. It was a successful meeting. Unfortunately, I had to let my friend knew that I would be late for fifteen minutes. It was reasonable...show more content... Hopefully, we would get a wide point of view to the case. Happily, it was worked out. We collected the problems and everyone got certain problems to look for more information. I, myself, got to check out more for health insurance and law matters. Also, we had second meeting to discuss about the report and presentation. At the meeting, we decided to give one or two topics each. Everyone got the same chance to get the topics. Due to I got an introduction only, therefore, I had to help other pals. In addition, I offered myself to edit the report and hope for the others' contribution as well. At the end of the meeting everyone was told to send their parts to me, and we would have an online meeting. Also, the part that we got at the day would be, automatically, his or her responsibility for the presentation. This was a very interesting and incredible group. Everyone had sent me their part to me. After I compiled and edited the report we would have further meeting. We discussed about the next meeting online. Everyone had agreed to have the meeting in the next two days. After class a day prior to the meeting, everyone was told the meeting was going to be at nine o'clock next day. As usual, I came ontime. My friends weren't at the meeting point yet. I thought they would be late for fifteen or twenty minutes. I started working with the report. I wrote the whole report.
