Definition Essay
Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the "act of forgiving; state of being forgiven,
disposition or willingness to forgive". But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being
able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a
quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and
sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold
a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: "The weak can never forgive.
Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." I believe that holds to be true.
Only a humble human being can attain the quality to completely...show more content...
I found that I forgave easier or not depending on severity of the circumstance and on the person
whom I was forgiving or not. I believe it is easier to forgive an enemy than a person you love
because a loved one are not supposed to hurt you in any way. I realized that those who I care more
cause the most pain.
When I was a child, every time I saw my mother crying and hurting from all the abuse induced by
her husband, the person who was supposed to protect her, I ask God, why? I never received an
answer. As the abuse continued and life went on, I was never able to forgive him for thesuffering
that he caused not only to my mother, but to me as well. I was carrying all the miseries from my
childhood and taking out on the people who love and care for me. There was no closure for the
pain and suffering. The only person that I saw comfort and security from was my father, a man
who never allowed me to pity myself or blame myself for other's actions. He was always there for
me until my eighteenth birthday when he decided that I was "old enough to be on my own;" it was
his own way to attempt making me independent. Everything became blurry at that point in my life.
There was nowhere to turn except the only person who had the opportunities in her eighty years to
master the meaning of true forgiveness: my grandmother, Consuelo, which her name literally means
to console. Living with her and listening to her life stories allowed me to comprehend

Respect Definition Essay
Respect, a term used for a sense of trust. Many people strive to earn respect from others. Respect
is not always easy to obtain. Just one action can destroy any respect that someone had for another.
Respect is not given it must be earned. Respect is an achievement. Earning the respect of people
is something to be proud of because it is not easy. The real definition of respect is, an achievement
not given, but earned through hard hard work. People today do not understand the true definition
of respect. Kids tend to think they just deserve to be respected by everyone. I also have a
tendency to think that I deserve respect from everyone and I can get frustrated sometimes when I
am not respected. Some adults also have false perceptions of what respect is. Adults will say you
should "respect your elders", yes this is true, but some adults take it too far and they must realize
respect is a two way street. Respect is not...show more content...
Respect is said to be held by a thin line. Say someone breaks a promise or talks behind another
person's back, just like that all respect for a person can be gone. That is what so many people do
not understand about respect. What does respect really mean. The technical definition of respect
is a deep feeling of admiration usually because of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. To me
respect is much more than that. Respect is an achievement in itself. We should be proud of the
respect we have earned from others and continue to strive for more. It is not just a deep
admiration for someone it's a sense of fulfillment and a challenge to maintain that respect and
make it grow. Earning respect is the only way to obtain it and once earned we now have a greater
responsibility. Some people may not care about respect, but they will not get very far without it.
Everyday we must strive for respect amongst employers, teachers, family, and friends. Respect is one
of the greatest achievements we will ever

Essay What is Intelligence?
What is Intelligence?
Intelligence can be defined in many different ways since there are a variety of individual
differences. Intelligence to me is the ability to reason and respond quickly yet accurately in all
aspects of life, such as physically, emotionally, and mentally. Anyone can define intelligence because
it is an open–ended word that has much room for interpretation. Thus my paper is an attempt to find
the meaning of human intelligence. There are a couple of scientists who have tried to come up with
theories of what makes a human being intelligent.
Jean Piaget, a Swiss child psychologist, is well known for his four stages of mental growth theory
(1). In the sensorimotor stage, from birth to age 2, the child is concerned...show more content...
(3)
Even though Jean Piaget's theory was interesting, I found Howard Gardener's, a psychologist at
Harvard University, theory even more intriguing. He arranged human intelligence into seven sections
and they are body–kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, logical–mathematical,
musical, and spatial intelligence. Gardner believes that everyone has a mixture of all the categories
varying at different levels. We can see a couple of intelligences that stand out in people we know
and including ourselves. (2)
For example, as a math major, I would consider the logical–mathematical intelligence to be more
predominant than my linguistic intelligence based on the name of the categories. In fact, Gardner
characterizes the logistical–mathematical intelligence as people who think logically and are able to
transfer abstract concepts to reality. These people enjoy solving puzzles and can be good inventors
because they can visualize an invention even before making a prototype (2). They normally do
better in school, which is for the most part due to the fact that schools are designed for
logical–mathematical type of thinkers.
The linguistic type, as you may have guessed, are the natural born writers and poets. They usually
have excellent storytelling skills, spelling skills, and love to play with words. They tend to be
bookworms and can easily learn more than one language. Best form of learning is through hearing,
speaking, or seeing words.

Definition Essay On Organ Donation
Definition Essay
In the United States, there are currently 116,608 people in need of a lifesaving organ transplant,
and 75,684 people that are currently active waiting list candidates (HRSA, 2017). Between
January and September 2017, there have only been 12,211 organ donors (HRSA, 2017) which is
far less that the current demand for lifesaving organs. The shortage of donors could lead to an
individual looking for outside sources such as the black market to find their lifesaving organ.
Offering incentives to persons who chose to donate their organs or those of a deceased loved one
is important because it could stop the illegal selling of organs, save the life of someone in need of an
organ transplant and benefit both the donor and recipient.
As of now, only 17 states in the United States offer a tax incentive fororgan donation. In Louisiana,
residents who donate can take a tax credit of up to $10,000.00 on their state income taxes. This
tax credit is for travel, lodging and lost wages due to missed work during the donation process
(American transplant foundation, 2017). This offers no assurance that the donor will have the
aftercare needed or compensation in the event that they lose their job due to missed work during
the donation process. Someone who is facing financial hardship might consider selling an organ as
a way of helping to cover finances. While doing so would be illegal, some might feel that it is the
only option they have to help cover their debts. If the

An act of Desperation or Selfishness: Suicide
"Suicide is a fundamental human right. This does not mean that it is morally desirable. It only
means that society does not have the moral right to interfere" –Thomas S Szasz

Definition Essay On Dancing
An individual may define dancing as the movement of one's feet and body, usually accompanied
by music. To me, dancing has a more broader meaning. Dance is a unique type of art that involves
challenging practices, callused feet, muscles that will be sore for weeks, beauty marks we call
bruises, blisters, blood, bedazzled costumes, competitive competitions, and a family of beautiful
dancers who share the same passion as you. I found my talent at the age of five when I became
obsessed with professional dancers. Although I knew it would take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears,
I immediately started to learn all the basic technique every dancer had to know. For example I
learned the five feet positions (first, second, third, fourth, and fifth),

What is Leadership?
Leadership is defined as the position of a leader, the ability to lead. I assure you it is much more then
that. Being a leader is not easy, I have learned from personal experience. Being a captain of a
football team is hard work. It takes guts to stand up and be a leader. Leadership is respect. Respect by
others. You can't force people to respect you; you've got to earn it. A good leader earns respect
from his, or her, peers. They know he is their leader and when he tells them to do something, they
do it, and they respect his position. A captain deserves respect from his teammates. The respect your
team has for you helps drive your team to do their...show more content...
When he yells, he strikes fear into his comrades. Along with leading by example, a captain should
be able to speak up. When a teammate is harming the team he should speak up and let them know
to stop what they are doing or to leave. A leader shouldn't be quite and expect people to listen and
follow them, he needs to speak up and take action.
Finally, Leadership is work. A leader works harder than anyone else and they know they need to
do so. A captain knows that he has to push himself to work above everyone else. He should run
faster, hit harder, and block better than anyone else on the team. If a captain works harder than
anyone else, then everything comes together. He earns respect; he takes responsibility, and leads
by example. Believe me, being a leader is not an easy job. If you can accomplish all these things
then you can be a true leader. From my own experience, being a captain is not easy. Even I
struggle with these qualities. The pressure of being a leader of is overwhelming, and takes hard
work to accomplish. "Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is
the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile," by Vince

Definition Essay On Trust
Trust is not what we think it is. Trust is the feeling that you feel inside yourself. Trust is not given
out easily and it's something that is earned. You can earn someone's trust by what you speak and
what your actions show. There are three different types of trust: trust in family, trust in a love one or
boyfriend, and trust in friends. Trusting in your family is the most important because your family
has always been there for us. We have deep trust in family because they have taken care of us.
Trust in a love one or boyfriend because we confide in them with personal issues. Trusting in your
friends you learn about each other's deepest secrets, but not trusting each other at first. I made so
many mistakes of trusting people, I would have never thought that my friends would hurt me and
take everything away from me in the matter of three months. This is one of those typical situations
where the good person gets taken advantage of; and my life will never be close to being the same

Other people may not agree and say that trust is already there. Trust needs to be built up between
the two people. Personally I do not trust people like that no more. I used to have that automatic

The year two thousand and fourteen was a very bad year for me. Not only did I start failing
school, getting into trouble with family, and I had my heart shattered into a million shards of glass,
and several things stolen from me. You definitely need to be more careful and aware of the people
who you let near you in life, and who you hangout

My Definition Of Normal
What is considered normal? Everyone today yearns to be considered normal, but what exactly are
they striving for? Found in the dictionary, the definition of normal is: an adjective; usual;
conforming to the usual standard, type, or custom. But, how can anything be considered normal if
no two people are exactly the same? Norms form a society. They are the standards by which
people live by. Growing up in Rhode Island, my experience has been with the American
contemporary society. Our society has to put labels on everything and everyone in order to function.
There are different norms for the way we look and act. Our society has set an extremely high
standard of normality with appearance. People believe that the norm for appearance,...show more

They care about the clothes, the looks, and what people thought of them, while my sister did not care
how she dressed or if what approved of what she was doing. All she cared about was having what
she determined to be fun. While most people looked at her as being a nerd, I look at her as being a
cool person who was content with her life.
This experience made me start questioning the idea of normality. I realized that norms measure a
person's happiness. If a person is normal, then he or she has found security and happiness. But,
what about the rest of us? Just because I have not achieved, and in most cases unwilling to
achieve, the norms of society, does this make me inferior to the norms? Beside myself, many
people have internally agonized over the idea of norms and how they serve society, especially
dealing with appearances. Everyone comes to a point when they evaluate their lives against these
standards. Often times, in a person's quest for normality, they have to conform and try to destroy
their differences from what they perceive to be normal. Before they realize they are different, they
are, in a sense, content with their lives. This idea can be found my many writings such as Elizabeth
MacDonald's Odalique. "My hair is short can less feminine at this time, my face rounder, my body

Dream Definition Essay
Dreams If you look up the definition of the word "dream" there are three different meanings of the
word according to Merriam–Webster.com. The first definition is, "a series of thoughts, images, and
sensations in a person's mind during sleep." This definition gives the word "dream" a positive
connotation by using words like "sensation". This meaning of "dream" does not mention nightmares
or bad dreams, so from this definition dream sounds like a positive word. The second definition
of the word "dream" is "something noteable for it's beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality." An
example of this word being used in a sentence is, "This new car is a dream to operate." This
version of the word "dream" sounds very positive and optimistic. Words that give this definition a
positive connotation are beauty, excellence, and enjoyable. All three of these words have happy
and cheerful connotations, which makes the word sound pleasant and joyful. The definition of the
third form of "dream", is "a strongly desired goal or purpose." I think this is the most powerful
definition of the word dream because of the words like strongly, and purpose. In my opinion, the
connotation of this word is very motivational and powerful. It is my favorite denotation of the word
because everyone has a dream, so everyone can relate to this word and think about...show more

Defintion Essay – Is it Possible to Define Art?
Art is the intentional use of some medium to communicate emotions or ideas between minds. Some
combination of the five senses is used to conduct information, so art may take the form of music,
painting, sculpture, dance, and others. Art may be collaborative, as with the presentation of a
symphony, which may involve a composer, a conductor, players, and a lightingcrew all working to
create the art of the presentation. Also, art occurs in at least one level of abstraction removed from
reality, a representation of the real thing.
There is no requirement of beauty in art. Indeed, some of the highest quality in art is attained by
some of the ugliest things. An example is the film,...show more content...
When I experience Samuel Barber's Adagio with my brother, the message I receive is clear, but it is
not the same as the message my brother receives. It is likely that Samuel Barber intended neither.
Nevertheless, the piece is effective art, since it communicates messages.
Even so, there must have been some intention with which Barber wrote the piece. In general, art
must be the creation of a mind, or group of minds, with at least one purpose. As such, art is never an
accident, whereas it may have some accidental effects on certain members of an audience. The
requirement that art have some purpose from the artist rejects the notion that computers can create
art. Computers may be used as a medium for people to create art, and computers may create what
resembles art, but computers cannot create art.
Another characteristic of art is its necessary element of impracticality. That is not to say that
artistic things cannot be practical; rather, there must be some part of the piece that does more
than simply serve a function. For example, ordering a cheeseburger at McDonald's is an
intentional use of the medium of a voice to communicate a message (the desire for food) between
two minds (the customer and the server). However, it seems somewhat clear that this extreme
case does not constitute a work of art. Still, it would be possible to compose a vocal piece of music
that qualifies as art, even if the words are still, "I'd like a Big Mac, please." The art enters

Definition Essay On Ambition
Ambition is a human trait to have extreme determination to complete your goals. Every ambitious
person is affected differently: some might have the goal to be rich, while another's ambition leads
them to run a marathon. Ambition is the passion to achieve your aspirations, even if they are nearly
impossible to achieve. This trait is not cookie–cutter, it's a complex characteristic that has many
different factors. Some might consider it a good trait, while another person could consider it a bad
trait. With hard work and ambition, success can be achieved. Although, without the hard work, all
that's left is a goal and the yearning to complete it. Ambition does not mean success, nor does it
make one productive: ambition is just desire. Without...show more content...
When people first started using the word, they were talking about people that were striving for
honor and popularity (Online Etymology Dictionary). For some people, the word still has the same
meaning, which is why ambition can have a negative connotation. Some people are considered
ambitious because they want fame, fortune, and honor. Ambition led by greed won't make
somebody happy. It may make somebody complete their goals, but they're purely selfish and won't
make them happy like they think. This negative type of ambition is an excessive form of ambition:
it makes people obsessive and they stop caring about everything, but their dreams. People who are
overambitious are, usually, willing to do anything to become successful and often lose the people
they care about the most in the process. Ambition can create selfish, ruthless, and greedy people.
Although it can be detrimental, without ambition, people lack drive. Society could not survive
without ambition: nothing would move forward because ambition leads to change and progression.
People without any ambition tend to be very lazy and end up unsuccessful people. Not having an
objective to strive for is extremely unhealthy which is why many apathetic people become depressed.
When one doesn't have ambition, they don't have anything to look forward to, they just live one day
at a time, waiting for something to happen.

What Is Religion? Essay
What is religion? Each person's definition of religion is different. Each person's faith is different.
This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no
right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who
feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come
from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put
into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. It can be

is no exact definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind
cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers. Of these six features, there are
three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority,
tradition, and mystery further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal

religions. Within primal religions there are people who are knowledgeable about life, who are

Essay about Definition of Psychology
Definition of Psychology
The term psychology comes from two Greek words: psyche, which means
1. The spirit or soul. 2. The human mind. 3. In psychoanalysis, the mind functioning as the center of
thought, emotion, and behavior.
And logos, "the study of." or according to modern researches "science"
These root words were first combined in the 16th century, at a time when the human soul, spirit, or
mind was seen as distinct from the body.
Definition of Psychology:
Psychology is one of the youngest sciences. It is still going through the process of its development.
There has been much fierce controversy about its definition. It has been variously defined as the

goes on in our mind eventually comes out as our behavior. But this is not true for all times so this
was considered incomplete.
Now a days the most comprehensive definition of Psychology is:
"Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behavior, and its application to solve human
problems"
OR
"Psychology is the schematic study of behavior and mental processes"
This definition contains three elements. The first is that psychology is a scientific enterprise that
obtains knowledge through systematic and objective methods of observation and experimentation.
Second is that psychologists study behavior, which refers to any action or reaction that can be
measured or observed–such as the blink of an eye, an increase in heart rate, or the unruly violence
that often erupts in a mob. Third is that psychologists study the mind, which refers to both conscious
and unconscious mental states. These states cannot actually be seen, only inferred from

Definition Essay On Self Respect
Respect can be defined as an action or a feeling that is shown to others, oneself or something.
Some may that you can get a feeling out of any virtue, for example anger or disrespect, but respect
is usually connected between two individuals; an action of showing how much love, pride and
honor you have for them and having your words and actions speak for you indicating that respect
is being shown. There is a chain reaction when it comes to expressing respect, you must give
respect to gain respect and it can go the other way around also, where in order to receive respect
you must give respect. When it comes to the virtue respect it is a give and take type of situation. As
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Russian novelist and short–story writer, once said, " If you want to be
respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by self–respect you will compel
others to respect you." Having self–respect has a lot to do with one's self–esteem, knowing their own
worth and confidence plays an important role. Having an open mind to being wrong is a gateway to
self–respect, it shows acknowledgment and acceptance of the truth or existence of a fact or opinion.
It shows that a person knows their rights from wrongs and having self–respect opens new doors of
opportunities, this means that a person is willing to understand their mistakes and learn from them;
learn from those mistakes, wrongs and anything that can be found to not being worthy of putting it

different households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions
of our community may include our home, our heritage, and even our religion. First, community is
our "home." We have been living in a community ever since we were just little babies and it has
always influenced us. Communities have played a big part in who we are today. We start off in
school not knowing anyone or anything and as you get older you begin to think about the...show

They go back to our ancestors that have originated our last names. There is background for almost
every last name in your community and that is the great thing about it. Long after you are
deceased, you will be remembered for the great things you have done. You will not just be
remembered for yourself, but for the things that you have accomplished in your community as
well. You will always be recognized and remembered for the things that you chose to do in your
community. Community is a big part of you and everything you do will be associated with it.
Third, Community is your religion. The day you begin to realize what community means to you is
the day you begin to believe in it. Anywhere you go, it will be an instinct for you to represent your
community, whether it be through sports or just leisure travels. You represent what means most to
you and will always defend it the best you can. Community is not an actual religion, but it is a
personal religion. The best way to define a community will never be clear. You have your own
feelings on communities and our thoughts on it will always be different from everyone else's.
Everyone has a different perspective on communities, it is endless. All of the definitions relate to
what I think about a community. Community to me means "home". A community is where I have
grown up and learned important life lessons. The things that matter most to me in my community are

Independence Definition Essay
Independence! What is the meaning of this word? Some people have different thoughts, ideas, or
notions of the word but we always hear our parents telling us, from a young age, what it is and we
grow up wanting and striving for that "independence". I remember when I was a teenager, I got into
plenty of arguments with my mother about having friends over and the last thing she would always
tell me after every argument, "Once you get your own place you can do whatever you want." Right
after that I would mutter and mumble to myself, with anxiousness, ignorance, and sometimes anger,
"I can't wait till I'm old enough to get my own place." Little did know, I would soon be ingesting
the harsh reality of my own words.
When I was nineteen the wait was over, I finally got that first step to independence, I had the
financial means to rent my...show more content...
It was like I would take one step forward and two steps back. There were a lot of things that I
didn't have to worry about especially staying with my parents, such as electricity bills and cable
bills because those were always paid. Since I was having such a tough time paying bills I decided
to get a roommate and luckily, I thought at the time, my friend told me that he had a friend who has
a child and needed a place to stay. First glance when I met my roommate I saw a beautiful, mature,
well–mannered person; whose clothes looked neat, clean, and pressed. I thought she was the best
candidate to be my roommate, but I was wrong. The first two weeks after her move–in were a living
hell, she was filthy and a slob. She would leave dirty diapers everywhere, her room looked like a
pig–pin, and the main bathroom smelled so bad. I would often think a bomb had gone off and
wished that I had a gas mask when I would pass by her room and bathroom because I thought the
toxic fumes could possibly kill

Defintion Essay

  • 1. Definition Essay Definition Essay Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the "act of forgiving; state of being forgiven, disposition or willingness to forgive". But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." I believe that holds to be true. Only a humble human being can attain the quality to completely...show more content... I found that I forgave easier or not depending on severity of the circumstance and on the person whom I was forgiving or not. I believe it is easier to forgive an enemy than a person you love because a loved one are not supposed to hurt you in any way. I realized that those who I care more cause the most pain. When I was a child, every time I saw my mother crying and hurting from all the abuse induced by her husband, the person who was supposed to protect her, I ask God, why? I never received an answer. As the abuse continued and life went on, I was never able to forgive him for thesuffering that he caused not only to my mother, but to me as well. I was carrying all the miseries from my childhood and taking out on the people who love and care for me. There was no closure for the pain and suffering. The only person that I saw comfort and security from was my father, a man who never allowed me to pity myself or blame myself for other's actions. He was always there for me until my eighteenth birthday when he decided that I was "old enough to be on my own;" it was his own way to attempt making me independent. Everything became blurry at that point in my life. There was nowhere to turn except the only person who had the opportunities in her eighty years to master the meaning of true forgiveness: my grandmother, Consuelo, which her name literally means to console. Living with her and listening to her life stories allowed me to comprehend Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Respect Definition Essay Respect, a term used for a sense of trust. Many people strive to earn respect from others. Respect is not always easy to obtain. Just one action can destroy any respect that someone had for another. Respect is not given it must be earned. Respect is an achievement. Earning the respect of people is something to be proud of because it is not easy. The real definition of respect is, an achievement not given, but earned through hard hard work. People today do not understand the true definition of respect. Kids tend to think they just deserve to be respected by everyone. I also have a tendency to think that I deserve respect from everyone and I can get frustrated sometimes when I am not respected. Some adults also have false perceptions of what respect is. Adults will say you should "respect your elders", yes this is true, but some adults take it too far and they must realize respect is a two way street. Respect is not...show more content... Respect is said to be held by a thin line. Say someone breaks a promise or talks behind another person's back, just like that all respect for a person can be gone. That is what so many people do not understand about respect. What does respect really mean. The technical definition of respect is a deep feeling of admiration usually because of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. To me respect is much more than that. Respect is an achievement in itself. We should be proud of the respect we have earned from others and continue to strive for more. It is not just a deep admiration for someone it's a sense of fulfillment and a challenge to maintain that respect and make it grow. Earning respect is the only way to obtain it and once earned we now have a greater responsibility. Some people may not care about respect, but they will not get very far without it. Everyday we must strive for respect amongst employers, teachers, family, and friends. Respect is one of the greatest achievements we will ever Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay What is Intelligence? What is Intelligence? Intelligence can be defined in many different ways since there are a variety of individual differences. Intelligence to me is the ability to reason and respond quickly yet accurately in all aspects of life, such as physically, emotionally, and mentally. Anyone can define intelligence because it is an open–ended word that has much room for interpretation. Thus my paper is an attempt to find the meaning of human intelligence. There are a couple of scientists who have tried to come up with theories of what makes a human being intelligent. Jean Piaget, a Swiss child psychologist, is well known for his four stages of mental growth theory (1). In the sensorimotor stage, from birth to age 2, the child is concerned...show more content... (3) Even though Jean Piaget's theory was interesting, I found Howard Gardener's, a psychologist at Harvard University, theory even more intriguing. He arranged human intelligence into seven sections and they are body–kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, logical–mathematical, musical, and spatial intelligence. Gardner believes that everyone has a mixture of all the categories varying at different levels. We can see a couple of intelligences that stand out in people we know and including ourselves. (2) For example, as a math major, I would consider the logical–mathematical intelligence to be more predominant than my linguistic intelligence based on the name of the categories. In fact, Gardner characterizes the logistical–mathematical intelligence as people who think logically and are able to transfer abstract concepts to reality. These people enjoy solving puzzles and can be good inventors because they can visualize an invention even before making a prototype (2). They normally do better in school, which is for the most part due to the fact that schools are designed for logical–mathematical type of thinkers. The linguistic type, as you may have guessed, are the natural born writers and poets. They usually have excellent storytelling skills, spelling skills, and love to play with words. They tend to be bookworms and can easily learn more than one language. Best form of learning is through hearing, speaking, or seeing words. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Definition Essay On Organ Donation Definition Essay In the United States, there are currently 116,608 people in need of a lifesaving organ transplant, and 75,684 people that are currently active waiting list candidates (HRSA, 2017). Between January and September 2017, there have only been 12,211 organ donors (HRSA, 2017) which is far less that the current demand for lifesaving organs. The shortage of donors could lead to an individual looking for outside sources such as the black market to find their lifesaving organ. Offering incentives to persons who chose to donate their organs or those of a deceased loved one is important because it could stop the illegal selling of organs, save the life of someone in need of an organ transplant and benefit both the donor and recipient. As of now, only 17 states in the United States offer a tax incentive fororgan donation. In Louisiana, residents who donate can take a tax credit of up to $10,000.00 on their state income taxes. This tax credit is for travel, lodging and lost wages due to missed work during the donation process (American transplant foundation, 2017). This offers no assurance that the donor will have the aftercare needed or compensation in the event that they lose their job due to missed work during the donation process. Someone who is facing financial hardship might consider selling an organ as a way of helping to cover finances. While doing so would be illegal, some might feel that it is the only option they have to help cover their debts. If the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Definition Essay On Dancing An individual may define dancing as the movement of one's feet and body, usually accompanied by music. To me, dancing has a more broader meaning. Dance is a unique type of art that involves challenging practices, callused feet, muscles that will be sore for weeks, beauty marks we call bruises, blisters, blood, bedazzled costumes, competitive competitions, and a family of beautiful dancers who share the same passion as you. I found my talent at the age of five when I became obsessed with professional dancers. Although I knew it would take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, I immediately started to learn all the basic technique every dancer had to know. • 8. Definition Essay Leadership Domenick Caruso November 14th 2010 Personal Essay What is Leadership? Leadership is defined as the position of a leader, the ability to lead. I assure you it is much more then that. Being a leader is not easy, I have learned from personal experience. Being a captain of a football team is hard work. It takes guts to stand up and be a leader. Leadership is respect. Respect by others. You can't force people to respect you; you've got to earn it. A good leader earns respect from his, or her, peers. They know he is their leader and when he tells them to do something, they do it, and they respect his position. A captain deserves respect from his teammates. The respect your team has for you helps drive your team to do their...show more content... When he yells, he strikes fear into his comrades. Along with leading by example, a captain should be able to speak up. When a teammate is harming the team he should speak up and let them know to stop what they are doing or to leave. A leader shouldn't be quite and expect people to listen and follow them, he needs to speak up and take action. Finally, Leadership is work. A leader works harder than anyone else and they know they need to do so. A captain knows that he has to push himself to work above everyone else. He should run faster, hit harder, and block better than anyone else on the team. If a captain works harder than anyone else, then everything comes together. He earns respect; he takes responsibility, and leads by example. Believe me, being a leader is not an easy job. If you can accomplish all these things then you can be a true leader. From my own experience, being a captain is not easy. Even I struggle with these qualities. The pressure of being a leader of is overwhelming, and takes hard work to accomplish. • 9. Definition Essay On Trust Trust is not what we think it is. Trust is the feeling that you feel inside yourself. Trust is not given out easily and it's something that is earned. You can earn someone's trust by what you speak and what your actions show. There are three different types of trust: trust in family, trust in a love one or boyfriend, and trust in friends. Trusting in your family is the most important because your family has always been there for us. We have deep trust in family because they have taken care of us. Trust in a love one or boyfriend because we confide in them with personal issues. Trusting in your friends you learn about each other's deepest secrets, but not trusting each other at first. I made so many mistakes of trusting people, I would have never thought that my friends would hurt me and take everything away from me in the matter of three months. This is one of those typical situations where the good person gets taken advantage of; and my life will never be close to being the same again....show more content... Other people may not agree and say that trust is already there. Trust needs to be built up between the two people. Personally I do not trust people like that no more. I used to have that automatic trust between people and myself, but over the last year my world has been turned upside down. The year two thousand and fourteen was a very bad year for me. Not only did I start failing school, getting into trouble with family, and I had my heart shattered into a million shards of glass, and several things stolen from me. • 10. My Definition Of Normal What is considered normal? Everyone today yearns to be considered normal, but what exactly are they striving for? Found in the dictionary, the definition of normal is: an adjective; usual; conforming to the usual standard, type, or custom. But, how can anything be considered normal if no two people are exactly the same? Norms form a society. They are the standards by which people live by. Growing up in Rhode Island, my experience has been with the American contemporary society. Our society has to put labels on everything and everyone in order to function. There are different norms for the way we look and act. Our society has set an extremely high standard of normality with appearance. People believe that the norm for appearance,...show more content... I am not staying popular people cannot be friends, but they are friends based on a superficial idea. They care about the clothes, the looks, and what people thought of them, while my sister did not care how she dressed or if what approved of what she was doing. All she cared about was having what she determined to be fun. While most people looked at her as being a nerd, I look at her as being a cool person who was content with her life. This experience made me start questioning the idea of normality. I realized that norms measure a person's happiness. If a person is normal, then he or she has found security and happiness. But, what about the rest of us? Just because I have not achieved, and in most cases unwilling to achieve, the norms of society, does this make me inferior to the norms? Beside myself, many people have internally agonized over the idea of norms and how they serve society, especially dealing with appearances. Everyone comes to a point when they evaluate their lives against these standards. Often times, in a person's quest for normality, they have to conform and try to destroy their differences from what they perceive to be normal. Before they realize they are different, they are, in a sense, content with their lives. This idea can be found my many writings such as Elizabeth MacDonald's Odalique. • 11. Dream Definition Essay Dreams If you look up the definition of the word "dream" there are three different meanings of the word according to Merriam–Webster.com. The first definition is, "a series of thoughts, images, and sensations in a person's mind during sleep." This definition gives the word "dream" a positive connotation by using words like "sensation". This meaning of "dream" does not mention nightmares or bad dreams, so from this definition dream sounds like a positive word. The second definition of the word "dream" is "something noteable for it's beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality." An example of this word being used in a sentence is, "This new car is a dream to operate." This version of the word "dream" sounds very positive and optimistic. • 13. Defintion Essay Defintion Essay – Is it Possible to Define Art? Art is the intentional use of some medium to communicate emotions or ideas between minds. Some combination of the five senses is used to conduct information, so art may take the form of music, painting, sculpture, dance, and others. Art may be collaborative, as with the presentation of a symphony, which may involve a composer, a conductor, players, and a lightingcrew all working to create the art of the presentation. Also, art occurs in at least one level of abstraction removed from reality, a representation of the real thing. There is no requirement of beauty in art. Indeed, some of the highest quality in art is attained by some of the ugliest things. An example is the film,...show more content... When I experience Samuel Barber's Adagio with my brother, the message I receive is clear, but it is not the same as the message my brother receives. It is likely that Samuel Barber intended neither. Nevertheless, the piece is effective art, since it communicates messages. Even so, there must have been some intention with which Barber wrote the piece. In general, art must be the creation of a mind, or group of minds, with at least one purpose. As such, art is never an accident, whereas it may have some accidental effects on certain members of an audience. The requirement that art have some purpose from the artist rejects the notion that computers can create art. Computers may be used as a medium for people to create art, and computers may create what resembles art, but computers cannot create art. Another characteristic of art is its necessary element of impracticality. That is not to say that artistic things cannot be practical; rather, there must be some part of the piece that does more than simply serve a function. For example, ordering a cheeseburger at McDonald's is an intentional use of the medium of a voice to communicate a message (the desire for food) between two minds (the customer and the server). However, it seems somewhat clear that this extreme case does not constitute a work of art. Still, it would be possible to compose a vocal piece of music that qualifies as art, even if the words are still, "I'd like a Big Mac, please." The art enters Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Definition Essay On Ambition Ambition is a human trait to have extreme determination to complete your goals. Every ambitious person is affected differently: some might have the goal to be rich, while another's ambition leads them to run a marathon. Ambition is the passion to achieve your aspirations, even if they are nearly impossible to achieve. This trait is not cookie–cutter, it's a complex characteristic that has many different factors. Some might consider it a good trait, while another person could consider it a bad trait. With hard work and ambition, success can be achieved. Although, without the hard work, all that's left is a goal and the yearning to complete it. Ambition does not mean success, nor does it make one productive: ambition is just desire. Without...show more content... When people first started using the word, they were talking about people that were striving for honor and popularity (Online Etymology Dictionary). For some people, the word still has the same meaning, which is why ambition can have a negative connotation. Some people are considered ambitious because they want fame, fortune, and honor. Ambition led by greed won't make somebody happy. It may make somebody complete their goals, but they're purely selfish and won't make them happy like they think. This negative type of ambition is an excessive form of ambition: it makes people obsessive and they stop caring about everything, but their dreams. People who are overambitious are, usually, willing to do anything to become successful and often lose the people they care about the most in the process. Ambition can create selfish, ruthless, and greedy people. Although it can be detrimental, without ambition, people lack drive. Society could not survive without ambition: nothing would move forward because ambition leads to change and progression. People without any ambition tend to be very lazy and end up unsuccessful people. Not having an objective to strive for is extremely unhealthy which is why many apathetic people become depressed. When one doesn't have ambition, they don't have anything to look forward to, they just live one day at a time, waiting for something to happen. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. They are teachings learned by previous generations then passed down, they are not always actions. The fifth feature of religion is grace. Grace is defined by Smith as "the belief and assurance that reality is on our side and can be counted on." Lastly there is mystery. For this there is no exact definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers. Of these six features, there are three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority, tradition, and mystery further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal Religions, Confucianism, and Taoism. Primal Religions are often mistaken to be the religion of the primitive man, often thought to be unintelligent. There is a definition of "primal" that is better suited than unintelligent or primitive. Primal in terms of religion, refers to the lack of exposure to technology, it is not "knowing" the state of consciousness given to many by the technological environment. Primal religions preceded organized religion as we know it today by thousands of years, in some cases millions, but are still present in the world today; we now call them tribal religions. Now a days the most comprehensive definition of Psychology is: "Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behavior, and its application to solve human problems" OR "Psychology is the schematic study of behavior and mental processes" This definition contains three elements. • 19. Definition Essay On Self Respect Respect can be defined as an action or a feeling that is shown to others, oneself or something. Some may that you can get a feeling out of any virtue, for example anger or disrespect, but respect is usually connected between two individuals; an action of showing how much love, pride and honor you have for them and having your words and actions speak for you indicating that respect is being shown. There is a chain reaction when it comes to expressing respect, you must give respect to gain respect and it can go the other way around also, where in order to receive respect you must give respect. When it comes to the virtue respect it is a give and take type of situation. As Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Russian novelist and short–story writer, once said, " If you want to be respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by self–respect you will compel others to respect you." Having self–respect has a lot to do with one's self–esteem, knowing their own worth and confidence plays an important role. Having an open mind to being wrong is a gateway to self–respect, it shows acknowledgment and acceptance of the truth or existence of a fact or opinion. It shows that a person knows their rights from wrongs and having self–respect opens new doors of opportunities, this means that a person is willing to understand their mistakes and learn from them; learn from those mistakes, wrongs and anything that can be found to not being worthy of putting it out there in the world and public Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Community has always been a big part of our lives and it has been here since the day we were born. We might even live on the same street, but we grow up in different households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions of our community may include our home, our heritage, and even our religion. First, community is our "home." You will always be recognized and remembered for the things that you chose to do in your community. Community is a big part of you and everything you do will be associated with it. Third, Community is your religion. The day you begin to realize what community means to you is the day you begin to believe in it. Anywhere you go, it will be an instinct for you to represent your community, whether it be through sports or just leisure travels. You represent what means most to you and will always defend it the best you can. Community is not an actual religion, but it is a personal religion. Some people have different thoughts, ideas, or notions of the word but we always hear our parents telling us, from a young age, what it is and we grow up wanting and striving for that "independence".
