● Scheme administered by the National Accreditation Recognition Committee
● Committee comprises one (1) representative from each credentialing body
● Currently 17 credentialing bodies recognised by IOHA under the NAR scheme
● Credentialing programmes must satisfy the NARC IOHA Model Certification
Programme to be recognised.
● Compliant credentialing programmes permitted to use the IOHA logo in
conjunction with the wording “IOHA Recognised Certification Scheme”
● Voluntary process
● Open to any OH credentialing body

Definition of Occupational Hygiene and objectives consistent with those

Criterion 2: Code of Ethics
Organisation has a Code of Ethics that meets the requirements of IOHA
and mechanisms for administering it.

Criterion 3: Candidate Education and Experience
Board minimum requirements: Baccalaureate Degree + 4 years suitable
experience (Total 7 years)
Criterion 4: Testing the Candidate
Professional competence of candidate is determined in a written
examination
Optional oral exam to test the competence and communication skills of
the candidate

Criterion 5: Evaluation Process
Applicant evaluation procedures - consistent and verifiable with respect to
objectivity / standardisation / documentation
Criterion 6: Maintenance Process
Formal mechanism for maintenance of technical skills / standards through
ongoing professional development

Criterion 7: Interface with related discipline professional certification
Organisation interfaces with related disciplines to enhance knowledge and expand

Primary purpose of the IOHA NAR Scheme is to:
● promote the practice of occupational hygiene and raise
professional standards
● establish a global benchmark against which credentialing bodies
can be assessed
● promote better health and safety outcomes for workers globally
