What is Vark?
Vark stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write and Kinesthic learning moduls. The Vark questionnaire gives you a profile of what kind of learing style you have. These preferences are information that you take in or give out. These preferences are not the same as strengths. Lets take a look at each one.
1. Visual learners learn based on what they see. They utilized graphs/and diagrams. The white board is their best friend. They like to draw and doodle and they highlight to help memorize. Usually learning in school is visual so they have an advantage
learners like to listen to lectures, they like discussion groups, and text or email. They tend to be talkative, and like to recite information back.
Read/Write learners are usually teachers or students. They like to work on power point, and the internet. They also like lists.
My Learning style is Aural and Kinesthetic. I I have learned this semester that I need to record lectures so that I can go back and listen to them. I have to have a study partner or group. And my kids have to quiz me, in the car in the store, at home, or where ever we are, they help me.
So when ever I can, and what ever I learn, I am constantly passing over to my kids and family!
So, they had to be tested too!. I was curious what the kids would be and I want them to know so that it will help them thru the rest of their school career. They had fun taking the tests and we were ALL amazed at the results.
For example – My husband like reading, but he was the highest in Kinesthetic.
Baylee was the highest in Kinesthic, that wasn’t a surprise to me.
Mckynzie Took the test and said I don’t like to read, and she was the highest in read/write.
Jayzee was also the highest in read write, but was also high in visual.
So then my mom came over to visit and she took the test . She is a teacher/librarian and she is the highest in read/write.
Last but no least my daughter came over and felt left out so I had her take the test. I already had the chart done before she came over. So I added a column and then plugged her numbers in the information and it changed the chart automaticly as well! That was so cool and you see this goes along with my learning style because I had to do it in excel to know how to do it so that it would stick!
My mom is a librarian, and her preference of learning is the read/write. She is always reading!
Geri felt left out so I have her do the test too and she is a Kinesthetic and read/write.
She loves to research on the internet.
