Multicultural Alumni Committee (MAC) reception
Kick off the weekend with the Brown Alumni Association's Multicultural Alumni Committee (MAC) to
celebrate the diversity of Brown's alumni community with our alumni affinity groups (Asian/Asian
American Alumni Alliance, Brown University Latino Alumni Council, Inman Page Black Alumni Council,
and Brown Transgender, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Alumni). Join classmates and friends at this annual
event celebrating the achievements of our student and alumni leaders. Enjoy music, student
performances by SHADES OF BROWN, MARIACHI DE BROWN and ARCHIPELA-GA, and light
refreshments. This year MAC welcomes special guest Dr. LIZA CARIAGA-LO, Associate Provost for
Academic Development and Diversity. Program begins at 6:15.

Commencement Forum – Race, Slavery, and Contemporary American Life
This panel will examine the ways in which race and slavery shaped both early America and
contemporary American life. Panelists will also discuss the work of the Center for the Study of Slavery
and Justice at Brown University.Featuring Anthony Bogues, Director, Center for the Study of Slavery &
Justice, Harmon Family Professor Africana Studies | Glenn Loury, Merton P. Stoltz Professor of the Social
Sciences | Seth Rockman, associate professor of history.

Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC) Annual meeting and reception
The IPC Board of Governors invites you to attend the IPC Annual Meeting and hear about IPC's activities
and any proposed amendments to the Constitution or By-Laws that may be submitted for IPC member
voting. Seniors and IPC members are encouraged to attend and learn about how they can
become involved. Join us for refreshments at a post-meeting reception.

ONYX Rites of Passage Celebration Dinner
Celebrate the achievements of graduating Black students at the sacred Rites of Passage Ceremony and
dinner. Join fellow alumni for this special tradition in which graduating students are inducted into the
Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC). The Rites of Passage Ceremony includes a procession, the alumni
presentation of Kente stoles to the graduates, and a keynote address from DORSEY M. JAMES ’83 P’14.
Ticket purchase for dinner is required, $25 for alumni and guests.Seating is limited. Shuttles to the Omni
Providence Hotel will depart periodically from the corner of BrownSt. and George St.

Unity Funk Nite
Groove to the best music of the ’70s through ’00s at this revival of an old Brown tradition with a
multicultural twist. IPC, A4, BULAC and Brown TBGALA come together to celebrate diversity in the
Brown community. Alumni, seniors, and families are welcome to this evening of dancing, music and fun.

Alumni of Color Initiative.
