• Answer the following questions
4. Where is water stored?
5. How does water move from one place to another?
6. What is infiltration?
7. What is runoff?
8. How does global warming affect the water cycle? Use
information about the effect of (a) the wet cycle and (b)
   the dry cycle.
Explain
• Debrief
• Review questions related to the EPA
  water cycle animated video clip
Where is water stored?

Water is stored in oceans, lakes,
rivers, and groundwater.
How does water move from
  one place to another?

 Evaporation, transpiration,
 condensation, precipitation.
What is infiltration?

Infiltration is water movement
between the spaces in the soil.
What is runoff?
• Runoff occurs
  when water
  flows over the
  ground instead
  of sinking into
  the ground.
How does global
warming affect the water
         cycle?
Include information about the
effect of:
 a) The wet cycle
 b) The dry cycle
Global warming intensifies the water cycle
because the earth’s surface is a little warmer and
this increases evaporation.

a). Where there is too much water, there is
more water infiltrating and more runoff. This
could cause flooding and negative effects on
plants and animals living in the area.

b). In areas away from a water source more
evaporation and transpiration could dry out the soil.
This could lead to lowered ground water supply, and
have negative effects on the plants and animals
living in the area.
Elaborate

• Create a diagram showing the effects of
global warming on the water cycle.
Evaluate
• Summarize the effects of human activity
  on the water cycle:
     global warming,
     water quality,
     and quantity.
