Plot:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the
survival of the species across two time periods in
X-Men: Days of Future Past. The characters from
the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with
their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an
epic battle that must change the past - to save our
future.
2. In the trailer some of the narrative is revealed, such as some important moments which later
lead up to key moments in the movie e.g. the big fight scene. Although some of the story line is
revealed in the trailer it still leaves a lot of narrative to be revealed only by watching the full
film. The trailer leaves the audience asking questions about what is going to happen in the film.
The audience is left with unanswered question and this is good because it makes the audience
what to go and watch the film to get there answers.
In a sci-fi movie you are expected to certain repeated conventions
such as extra-terrestrial life forms, alien worlds, time travel, along
with futuristic elements such as spacecraft,
robots, cyborgs, interstellar space travel or other technologies.
The lighting in the trailer changes a lot from low key lighting, high
key lighting and natural lighting. The use of low key lighting makes the film look mysterious
through the trailer it leaves questions hanging from the audience of what is going to happen.
3. Props: Props such as robots are used to that the film is set in
the future, other props such as guns, fire, explosions show
that the film has some action, violence and crime. Xmen (days
of our future past) is a Sci-fi, action and adventure movie, X-men
overlaps different genres which make it a unique film
that attracts audience. X- men uses conventions of all these
different genres which make X-men unique and makes it a
very successful movie
4. Sound
the trailer starts with non-diegetic music which builds up to dialogue from a
character. The non-diegetic sound plays in the background while the characters
dialogue is overlaps it. When there is no dialogue from the characters, the non-diegetic
sound is dominant and builds up tension/suspense. It grabs the audience
attention which is important in other to get them want to watch the film. As the
trailer continues the background music fades and the dialogue takes over giving the
audience key quotes form the film. Gradually the music starts to build but is a
different music from the beginning tune, this builds up pressure as the new
background music (soundtrack) Is more intense. The background music is tenser
and faster which goes with the action of the trailer. The pitch of the music builds up
slowly as the pace of the trailer builds making the trailer more interesting leaving
the audience wanting more
