3. James Matthew Barrie
Sir James Matthew Barrie, (9 May 1860-1937 June) was a Scottish author and
dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan. The child of a
family of small town weavers, he was educated in Scotland. He moved to
London, where he developed a career as novelist and playwright. There he met
the Llewelyn Dabies boys who inspired him in writing about a baby boy who
has magical adventures in Kensington Gardens, then to write Peter Pan or the
Boy Who Wouldn’t Up, a fairy play about this ageless boy and an ordinary girl
named Wendy who have adventures a in the fantasy setting of Nederland. This
play quickly overshadowed his previous work and although he continued to
write successfully, it became his best known work, credited with popularising
the name Wendy, which was very uncommon previously.
4. Summary of the Book
One night, when the boys were sleeping, they saw a light to move in
the room, it was Tinkerbell (Campanilla) and Peter Pan. This one
proposed them to travel with him to the country where you never eat,
where the lost children were living, he also told them they had to be
careful with the Captain Garfio.
“Campanilla” became jealous of Wendy and she said to the lost
children who they should shoot. The pirates took Wendy, Michael and
Joh as prisoners,, but Peter Pan came in time to rescue them, and the
three brothers decided to come back home.
5. Opinion
