smallest unit of sound within a word)
Being able to distinguish different words
that sound similar but may be differ by one
letter
• (example: pad, pat or bad, bat)
The ability to articulate (or make) the right
sound and put stress on the correct
syllable
The ability to speak with the correct
speaking pattern, pitch and tone.
So pronunciation focuses
more on how to say
words
 The ability to put the correct words and
phrases together in the correct order, and to
say complete thoughts with fluidity and ease
 Speaking also includes a more social context
such as politeness, use of appropriate
language for the situation/environment and
the ability to dialog
So speaking focuses
more on when, where,
and how to say words
together so they can
express your thoughts.

Difference between pronunciation and speaking

  • 1.
  • 2. Using the correct phoneme (which is the smallest unit of sound within a word) Being able to distinguish different words that sound similar but may be differ by one letter • (example: pad, pat or bad, bat)
  • 3. The ability to articulate (or make) the right sound and put stress on the correct syllable The ability to speak with the correct speaking pattern, pitch and tone.
  • 4. So pronunciation focuses more on how to say words
  • 5.  The ability to put the correct words and phrases together in the correct order, and to say complete thoughts with fluidity and ease  Speaking also includes a more social context such as politeness, use of appropriate language for the situation/environment and the ability to dialog
  • 6. So speaking focuses more on when, where, and how to say words together so they can express your thoughts.
