1) Pretotyping is a method for validating the market appeal and actual usage of a potential product quickly and with minimal investment by "faking" or simulating the product before fully developing it. 2) Pretotyping involves building very simple, temporary prototypes called "pretypes" to get customer feedback through techniques like surveys, interviews, or crowdtesting in just hours or days rather than the weeks or months of a full prototype. 3) The goal of pretotyping is to get customer feedback and data early in the design process to determine if a product idea is worth fully developing or should be changed or abandoned before significant resources are spent.
