2. This image is striking for various reasons. Firstly, this
image stands out as she’s looking directly at you, no
matter what position you’re in. It’s directly addressed
to us. The first thing you notice is her eyes as their so
bold and that’s why this image is so striking.
Furthermore, the background is plain so we’re not
loosing concentration on the women in the middle of
the frame. Also, her t-shirt is white and plain so we’re
focused on her face and not distracted from it.
Moreover, the Image is a close up of the women so it
implies “The rule of third” this is when the image is at
the four main points of a grid. In this image the face is
in the middle of the four points so her face is the direct
gaze.
This image is including a broad depth of field as
everything is on focus and nothings blurred out. Also,
the lighting on this image is suttle as it’s not too bright
so we’re not loosing focus once again.
Lastly, the image is of a famous movie star so the
image links to her life style. The make-up and the pose
both contrast together to produce the masked look.
And in each film this character is in she’s playing a
different character so I think she’s peeling at her face
to give the impression of there’s something
underneath. She’s not just an act.
3. This image is striking for various reasons. One
of which would be the fact that Leonardo is
holding a swan and usually swans are vicious
animals, so it’s surprising and stands out for that
reason.
Also, in this image it’s all black and white and
there isn’t anything distracting in the background
so our attention is drawn the Leonardo.
Furthermore, this image has a narrow depth of
field as the background is blurred and the focus
is on Lerado so he stands out more.
Not only that but the lighting is focusing on his
face so he stands out even more. Also, the swan
frames him to draw out his face.
In the Rule of third Lerado's eyes are in the right
points of the grid. This is also a reason which it’s
a striking image as the angle Leonardo is in is
bold. Not only that but once again Leonardo is
looking straight into the camera so it looks like
he’s looking directly at us. This features the
direct gaze again.
Lastly, Leonardo is a environmentalist so this
image captures his personality. Therefore, it
stands out once again.
4. This image can be seen as striking for individual
reasons. Firstly, the fact that her facial reactions
are striking and bold so they’re the first thing you
notice in the picture.
Furthermore, the background is plain and black
and the images are greyscale so we’re focused on
the person and not distracted by the background
This image is a broad depth of field as everything
is on focus. Also, the shading on the right image is
darker so it emphasises the gloominess of the
facial feature.
There is a direct gaze in one of the images and
that is the one on the left, as she’s looking straight
at you.
Lastly, the image is explaining the person within it,
lifestyle. As she is in actress and she’s pulling two
completely different faces. This comes across to
me that she could be slightly crazy, and insane but
find acting sad sometimes as she doesn’t get to
show her true self. Or it could be the fact she
enjoys acting insane and hates being herself.
Anything can be presumed from this image and
that is why it’s so striking.
6. I personally find this image striking for individual
reasons. Firstly, this image is striking because they’re
both smiling and look and dress completely different to
one and other. This suggests to me that friendship can
occur even if you’re not in comparison to one and
other, and this is why I find this image most striking.
Furthermore, in the background I can notice some sort
of object which catches my eye this then makes me
wonder where the two men could possibly be.
Therefore, it’s striking as it keeps us asking questions
and we want to find out more about this image to
understand why it’s there.
This image has a broad depth of field as everything is
in focus. And we can see the details of the background
and detail of the facial features and body positions in
the image.
There is no direct gaze in this image which represents
to me that the people in this image don’t care as to
who might be around them they’re just communicating
so well that nothing else matters.
The rule of third occurs in this image as the men's
faces are in the left point and the right points of the
rule of third. So their faces are what we notice first.
Lastly, this image shows to me Youth and friendship
and it’s striking as the men stand out more than the
background even though the background is in focus.
7. I personally find this image most striking for
various reasons. The first one is, the fact that it’s a
lion with a human body and this is impossible.
Therefore, I find it intriguing.
In this image there is no direct gaze but the
characters faces are within the Rule of third. Their
faces are in the left point and right point of the
grid. Therefore, our attention is caught straight
upon their face and facial features.
This image has a slight narrow depth of field as
some of the background is blurred where as other
parts are in focus. However, with this type of field
it allows us to concentrate on both of the
characters as we’re not distracted by the
background.
Also, the lighting is bright on the women's face and
I believe this is done to add the effect that the fire
is making her glow. This is striking because we
then draw attention to her to view the expression
in her face.
Lastly, in this image we see that the lion is
disappointed as he can’t please the women even
though he’s trying to hard by giving her a meal and
a wonderful environment. I have decided this is
what’s happening because the women facial
feature is in the shape of grief. She doesn’t look
happy so I developed this opinion from that. That
is also why the image is so striking to me.
