1. These are some photographs
which I felt I could use for my
contents page because they
had similar qualities to
photographs that I saw on
contents pages in my market
research.
People don’t have to be keeping eye
contact with the camera, the kinds of
camera shots tend to be more
naturalistic.
The photographs vary in distance,
ranging from long shots to close-ups.
The photographs show people in
action, doing things that we know
and expect of them, (eg playing a
guitar)
2. These are photographs that I do not
feel would be appropriate for a
contents page:
The photographs should not be
blurred and discoloured as it does
not create a strong aesthetic.
There is too much empty space in Every photograph needs to match
this photograph, a contents page is the target audience and magazine
generally very busy and full of visual genre, photographs of older people
information. or people who are not “Indie” would
look out of place.
Photographs that are very close up
are not generally used because they
make it very hard to tell who the
person is as when the photographs
are used in a contents page they are
Photographs that are too posed are often very small images.
inappropriate and look unprofessional.
