  2. 2. Why student transiency? America has the highest rate of transiency in the world. According to data from the 2010 Current Population Survey 100.2 million people aged 5 years and over lived in a different residence 5 years ago. Data from the 2009 ASEC indicate that 37.1 million U.S. residents moved between 2008 and 2009 (Table 1a). This represents an increase of 1.9 million from the 2008 estimate of 35.2 million movers.

  8. 8. Conclusion • • There is not a significant difference between any of the groups on the reading and math GCRCT (p<.05). The findings indicate transiency does not impact third grade student achievement in reading and math as measured by GCRCT.
