Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the
basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things
like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I
predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with
no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic
and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I
need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or
have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge
to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am
talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that
other nurses will not

Three Different Citing Styles
Q: What are the three different citing styles one uses when citing an essay paper, and how to they
differ from one another? What consequences could one possibly face if a citation is not properly
cited? Why is it so important to use correct citation and proper grammar when writing an essay
paper?
While there are many different reasons why writers choose to use certain writing techniques, some of
the common forms are the usage of quotations, paraphrasing, and mostly summarizing. Let's begin
with the three differences of each one, and the purpose why so many people use them to
incorporate each one into their writing styles. " One of the most popular and common one is
quotations, this is when you quote exactly what you just read by using word for word translation"
(www.mesaaz.com). This means you copy the text the way it was originally written, without any
changes what so ever to the original. You'll then complete it by giving the author credit where credit
is due, by putting it in quotation brackets'. "Another reason people may choose to quote is to
emphasize a key point, or to bring your attention to an important concept" (www.mesaaz.com).
Another way is to simply show your readers that the...show more content...

the passage, and introducing them to the audience by using a different approach. But still giving the
original author recognition for their work, as you quote examples to which are imperative to the
writer's actual intentions and views. As you can see there is a slight similarity to each of the above
citations, however, each one requires detailed instruction, and proper citing for it not to be considered

Reflection On Introduction To Writing
I'm coming to you today to discuss my reflection after taking one of my prerequisite, Introduction
to Writing (WRTG 101). Which is an introductory course to give you the basic knowledge of
writing. Because I'm a Psychology Major at University of Maryland University College I looked
forward to taking this class, because it has helped me enhanced my skills efficiently in grammar, and
writing to help further my career as a psychologist and the ability to communicate on paper.
Although, this class had many challenges, even though, I had taken a writing class fifteen years ago,
my freshman year in college, I still wasn't proficient enough to write a professional letter or essay.
Before taking this class, I had no passion to write. My writing would be all over the place, my
events would not be in sequence, along with poor grammar, I would have to many ideas and
unable to narrow down a topic, which in turn my supporting sentences were not supporting. Also,
I didn't know how to cite my material or properly cite my references. I was scared I would fell this
class, because I felt I didn't know just the basic knowledge of writing. Although, once upon of time,
I had no passion for writing, I have a little more confidence, because I learned the basic knowledge
in writing, grammar, and in punctuation. Also, I feel introduction to writing has offered me the
accomplishments needed to become a more successful writer, as well as, the confidents to be a more
proficient and active

Citing Sources: Annotated Bibliography
Citing Sources
Citations provide information to help your readers locate the sources you consulted when writing
your paper. Some of your instructors will specify which citation format you should use; others will
tell you to choose your own citation format as long as you use it consistently. If your instructor does
not mention citation format at all, you should ask whether a particular format is required. The most
common citation formats are MLA (Modern Language Association) style, which is primarily used
for papers in the humanities; APA (American Psychological Association) style, which is primary
used for papers in the social sciences; and Chicago style (The Chicago Manual of Style), which is
used for both humanities and social

Essay on How to Avoid Plagiarism
How to Avoid Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a growing problem in universities (Matheson & Starr 2013) and becoming too
common in the scientific world (Ober et al. 2012). Hence it is important for students as well as
researchers to know how to avoid plagiarism. Before discussing the ways to avoid plagiarism, this
paper discusses the definition, the types and reasons for plagiarism. "Copying' or "borrowing"
someone else's words or ideas may perhaps be the more inoffensive way of explaining plagiarism.
However, these two terms may deliver a connotation that plagiarism is not much of a serious offense.
Whether the act of plagiarising is intentional or unintentional, it is considered as a fraud. In an
academic setting plagiarism may even...show more content...
There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested by
Ober et al. (2012).
Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people's work,
books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation
marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in
which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly.
Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else's ideas into your own
words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is still
considered as "copying". Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the ways to
avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original "voice".
Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done
excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack
of writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper.
Rule 4: Don't recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers
without citing This is the case of self–plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier
publication but fail to cite the original and obtain

Importance Of Reflection In Writing
I have made a phenomenal amount of progress this semester. English 101 has made me a better
writer and editor. Because the modules and peer–editing reviews it was easy to correct and learn
from my mistakes. As a writer, I think I can still make an amount of improvement. With it being
from mechanic errors and to clear organization skills. As for providing clear and relevant
examples I have made improvements. I say I'm an average, but growing writer. I have my skills
and weakness, but I still try harder. When I first came to English 101 I thought I had it down
packed. In high school, I took AP Lit, a advanced placement English class. AP Lit offered a college
level course, teaching us high school students college curricular. But when I received my first
assignment, I hesitated, not knowing what to write. Then modules were introduced, making it better
to reflect on. Constantly I relied on modules and notes, which helped me improve in my writing, in
result giving me better feedback. As I progress along the semester, my final paper grades have
improved. From starting on my political analysis project to finishing my argumentative essay. My
political analysis paper ended with a 70%. The 70% is from the lack of transition and the lack of
specific audiences. Also analyzing my information and relating back to my thesis. My last
assignment, my argumentative essay ended with a 90%. In my argumentative essay I had a
acceptable analysis and did great relating back to the

Plagiarism and Citation Essay
Plagiarism: Writing can be a difficult task for some people. For those people, before they start
writing, the first thing they do is probably idea gathering, maybe looking for relate article on
newspaper or magazine, look up some definition in the dictionary, check the World Wide Web, or
even take a trip to the library. Often, they found what they are looking for, and before they know it,
they start copying it, maybe a couple of word, few sentence, other peopleВЎВ¦s idea, or they even
copy the whole thing. People often want to take things they like, it is part of human nature. But there
are a big different between wanting to than actually taking it without permission, this kind of action
is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined...show more content...
But is copying the material on the web an act of plagiarism? The answer is YES! The works on
the web can not be use with permission of the web site owner, or the works used have to be
properly cited. But web have countless pages and sites, some people think it almost impossible to
find out where the work it copied from, but once again, it is the act itself made an act of
plagiarism, and the truth will come out sooner or later, it is only matter of time. The Webs This is
word that have become popular only recent, it become more and more know as the computers and
Internets are entering every household in the world. Web is also called TheWorld Wide Web

computerized systematic global information system using Internet as its transport mechanism. It is
called web because everything on the Internet is link to each other. If you have a computer, a
modem and phone line, you are opened to a wide range of information, entertainment, and
computerized resources. The information in the web is unlimited. On the web, you can be talking
to a friend in New York, reading a book in Beijing University library and downloading software all
at the same time. There are so many things to do on the web; only thing that limits you are your
imaginations. The World Wide Web has become a very important part of our live. Without the web,

Reflection Paper On Academic Integrity
Prior to completing the Academic Integrity Program, I thought academic integrity was as simple
"not cheating." I considered it a policy solely implemented to ensure that students learned the
material. To me, cheating was mostly plagiarism, or trying to pass off someone else's work as your
own. It was not until I completed the program that I began to understand the long–term effects of
cheating on the peers, the professor, and the institution. Now, I understand that cheating affects not
just me, but also the other students in my courses and the university's reputation. I also understand
the reasoning behind the university's strict policies regarding academic integrity violations, as they
are in place to protect the student, the classmates,...show more content...
I have also learned how to focus in on what exactly I have questions on, instead of not
understanding where to even begin looking for issues and becoming overwhelmed. These practices
have yielded success and project completion, and I will continue to do assignments in this fashion
in my future Computer Science courses. There were some behaviors defined in the program that I
was surprised to find academically dishonest. This is mostly because some of these behaviors had
never occurred to me. This includes all the lab–related behaviors, such as dry lab data, trimming data,
cooking data, ecology tampering, and carelessness. Dry lab data is reporting data for samples that
have not been analyzed. Trimming data is cutting out the outliers from data that would "skew" your
analyses, while cooking data is creating fabricated, new data to fit your analyses. Ecology tampering
is intentionally changing environments between experimental groups to yield the results that you
want. Carelessness is not paying close attention to something – calculations, lab procedures, etc. –
and inadvertently reporting inaccurate results. All the behaviors described are academically
dishonest because students have the same responsibilities as professionally–trained scientists since
they are now within the same realm of science. Reporting inaccurate lab/research data can

Essay about William Gibson's Idoru
Idoru Idoru by william gibson is nothing less than an awe–insiring book for me. no other author that
i have come across can inspire one to recreate visions of reality at the turn of every page. Gibsons
books are all compelling; neuromancer (1984) needing perhaps a special mention; as this book
single handedly created the cyberpunk genre, aswell as coining phrases such as "cyberspace".
However, as one of his later works (1996), we are able to find within Idoru's more contempory
exploration of our worlds transformation into a high density infomation–governed datasphere, an
analysis of what might happen to certain aspects of humanity as technology, infomation, and a new
reality converge within the global infrastructure.

It examines the (basically exagerated, and possibly likely)new media conglomerates, the power they
have, how the use and abuse it especially in relation to the world economy. One can spend pages
and pages "outlining" the aspects of the world that Idoru covers; every little point begs to be
interperated, and as there is such a wealth of infomation, ideas, and typographic references to modern
culture, a mass of isomorphisms which reach out to one, this book is, to me, personally at least,
bordering on revolutionary.
Idoru is however, not a work of classic liturature, and doesnt share much with its classical literary
counterparts (Brave new world for example), but as a work on its own, within its own genre it is
certainly one of the finest. Perhaps in this analysis, one should consider the usual analytical tools
(plot, structure, characterisation etc), aswell as how this book could help us in predicting a
(considerably less dark) vision of the future, not to mention what it is about this book that inspires
one so much.
As previously mentioned, this novels plot is somewhat complicated – this however does not detract
from the overall flow of the book – in a sense, the density of infomation and detail we are faced with
when reading, acts as a mechanism to allow us to live the moment in the novel – a citizen in an
infomtion dense society would be faced with so many details on a daily basis, it

The Importance of Citation in Academic Writing
The Importance of Citing in Academic Writing
Many students today fail to understand the importance of citing sources when they write academic
papers. Furthermore, some only cite sources because they are concerned about the grade that they
are going to get if their paper is not complete. Plagiarism has become a common practice as
individuals prefer to steal intellectual information from others. The ability to create is one of
humanity's most important talents and it is wrong for someone to rob an individual of his or her
right to put across his or her creativity. Most people understand the unfairness of committing
plagiarism when their ideas are stolen and used without their consent and with the person who
committed this immorality expressing no interest in referencing them.
Academic writing encompasses a complex set of concepts and a person who wants to do it needs
to get actively engaged in writing a document is likely to be reviewed by a group of scholars
familiar with the subject under discussion. A citation is basically "a signpost and an
acknowledgement" (Hunter). The fact that it is a signpost means that it provides readers with
information regarding where they can find the source of the writer's inspiration. Its value as an
acknowledgement relates to how the writer needs to put across his or her appreciation in regard to
the sources that he or she used.
In the academic world writers can only function by using sources and this is largely what keeps this

Applying Classical and Contemporary Sociological Theories
Sexual harassment is a negative aspect that society would like to forget about. However, there has
been a lot of talk about the Harvey Weinstein scandal and thesexual harassment allegations (Ravelli
and Webber 2016). Due to Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and his sexual harassment case,
France might make a law that fines people for catcalls because of the women who are speaking out
about sexual harassment (Ravelli et al. 2016). These current events tie in with Conflict theory due to
the high status that Weinstein has and the power he has in the movie industry. This event also

2016).
Conflict theory explores power imbalances and conflict within our society to explain our social
lives. (Bilefsky and Peltier. 2017). This classical theory would see the imbalance of power between
Weinstein and the victims the theory would also see that his actions explained the social movement
that is happening on social media. This movement brought awareness and a voice for women. This
movement was introduced because of women–who lack the power to hold him responsible– needing
their voices to be heard and need the support of other people and survivors. I believe that the
sexual harassment movement on social media correlates with conflict theory because the article
mentioned that one of the victims who Weinstein sexually harassed, had said that it was hard to
go with him to his hotel room because of the status and influence he has in the movie industry
(Ravelli et al. 2016). People want to move up in the movie business and make a name for
themselves; the imbalance of power influences the women's decisions to be persuaded to go along
with Weinstein but before they know it, it is too late (Ravelli et al. 2016). It could be said that
Weinstein's power is very influential and impactful on how he treats people. I believe that conflict
theory is strongly tied with this case because conflict theory speaks on behalf of the people who
cannot speak for themselves; the people of power being Weinstein and the people who

Plagiarism: Citing A Source
It is important to credit a work that isn't yours. Everyone that exist on this earth deserves to be
acknowledged. It is a pleasure to appraise the hard work and determination of the main source in
any work of art. Plagiarism can also be seen in a writer's failure to cite a source correctly with the
correct grammar punctuation. There are several forms of plagiarism that involve paraphrasing and
reusing older material for future work. Those who do not plagiarize are joyful innovating new ideas.
Whether purposive or irrelevant, failure to recognize that you have acquired another's data or

Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to
prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing
especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits
in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and
assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will
improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different
point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting
feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me
improve.
Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on
more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I
disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the
way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point.
Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative
with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps
writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this
is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole
essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that
helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was
one of the easiest things about writing the essay.
Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a
teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of
protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the
essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic
errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't

Often perceived as a group of tyrannical oppressors, the white people have firmly established their
gruesome and discriminatory image through the bloody history of its dictatorship over racial
minorities. Although it is true to some extent that White people were biased and unjust to other
races, it is obvious that the intransigent mindset of the native Indian people have also contributed to
the intense enmity between the two races. Harold Cardinal, once president of the Indian Association
of Alberta, had inaccurately accused Caucasian Canadians in "The Mystery of the White Man". He

These examples of White criminals made his claim seemingly powerful as it was truthful that there
are many criminals who are White but really, it is just as easy to come up with a list of Asians,
Blacks, and Latinos who are lawbreakers, rapists, and law rigging judges. In "The Loons", the
half–breed girl Piquette Tonnerre spent a month with the MacLeods, a Caucasian family on a
holiday. During that period, the doctor's daughter Vanessa was trying to make friends with Piquette
but she was rejected and ignored by the narrow–minded, over–defensive Piquette. Vanessa is an
example of the open–minded, culture exchanging Whites Cardinal described at the end of "The
Mystery of the White Man" (Cardinal, 200). Vanessa was one of those who have offered their
culture and heritage; she was striving to discover the foreign ethnicity of the Indians but the cynical,
self–protective Piquette had refused to befriend her. Both of the stories "Akua Nuten" and "The
Loons" have reflected the fact that White people do try to reach out and discover the Indian culture.
Nevertheless, they were either neglected by the unsociable Piquette or frightened at gunpoint by the
racist Kukatso (Theriault, 128). Varying from the friendly and submissive attitude Cardinal described
all Indians to have, Piquette was antagonistic and ignorant to learn or accept the White culture. Much

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

Case 2.01 Citing Textual Evidence
2.01 Citing textual evidence Advertising is used in the public to get the word out that a new product
is here. Advertising informs people that this product may be something that they like and is useful
to them. Without advertising, many companies would not be able to preserve their business.
Companies have to make sure they efficiently inform the public what their product does because if
the public has no understanding of the product, they most likely will not buy it. Advertisements are
first used locally and can eventually become nationally if the business is doing well and properly
informing the consumers about the product and its purpose. This can be done using social media,
newspapers, magazines, or bill boards if they are wealthy enough.

Essay On Social Interaction
Introduction Social interaction with others shapes our lives and teaches us to be who we are. We
learn how to talk through one–sided conversations between us and our mom and dad. We learn right
from wrong by making mistakes or acting out and being reprimanded if those actions don't
represent the norms of our society. We learn through talking with others how to voice our own
wants, needs, thoughts, and opinions. Our ability to interact with others can be a core strength for
some people, but this is a daily struggle for others. Some individuals don't have this skill to utilize.
Social interaction is so important to us, that we are unaware that this is a privilege for us to possess.

Intellectual Disabilities and Social Skills An intellectual disability is characterized by "significant
limitations in both intellectual functioning and in adaptive behavior" (American Association on
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, 2017). Capacities such as reasoning and problem
solving are mildly to severely insufficient in relation to standards set in place. This leads to
difficulties learning in general curriculum classrooms with no accommodations or modifications to
the material provided. There is also an absence of conceptual, social, and practical skills. About
seventy–five percent of people with intellectual disabilities have demonstrated a lack of social
skills. Social skills are "behaviors that allow for social interactions to be mutually beneficial and
reinforcing" (O'Handley, Ford, Radley, Helbig, & Wimberly, 2016, pg. 542). Interpersonal skills,
social responsibility, self–esteem, and situational wariness are only some examples of what
individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) have difficulty comprehending ((American Association
on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, 2017). Of course, those diagnosed with an
intellectual disability are not the only individuals in the special education population that have
difficulty with social skills.
A study conducted by Belinda Ratcliffe and others approached the idea that individuals with higher

Importance Of Credible Sources
A source is the place or resource in which knowledge has been obtained. When looking for sources
to use in a research paper you need to be able to determine whether or not a source is reliable and
credible. It is important to use reliable and credible sources so that the information you use in a
document you are writing is accurate and will not affect you in a negative way, by either getting a
bad grade in school or just looking unintelligent to a colleague.
A credible source is a source of good quality that a reader can trust to be truthful and believable,
otherwise known as convincing or plausible. It is important to use credible sources to prove points
because it enhances your own credibility as a writer by contributing to the effect of...show more

When using ethos you create a sense of authority to the reader that what you are saying is reliable.
For example, in commercials athletes advertise athletic products, while models advertise beauty
products. This shows a reader that professional people in a certain field backup a product in a
positive way. Ethos is also used when someone uses actions that a person has completed in the
past, to help persuade people that they have experience and are reliable. When using logos you
can cite statistics, analogies, and historical context about a topic to show you are a credible
source and that the information you are using can be proven with evidence. It enhances a rational
and fact based reasoning on a topic. If you use pathos and appeal to the more emotional side of a
topic, a reader could immediately identify your source as bias, as it uses a human's sense of emotion
to get someone to agree with a topic.
A credible and reliable source can be determined through characteristics in spelling/grammar,
citations and examples used within a document, and the author. Once a reliable and credible
source has been identified you can use it in any research paper that will help improve your skills
as a writer, and make your writing as reliable as the sources that allowed you to write it. When
creating a reliable and credible source use ethos and logos to help support your claim, to enhance
your authority and provide logical

  • 1. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content... I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. • 2. Three Different Citing Styles Q: What are the three different citing styles one uses when citing an essay paper, and how to they differ from one another? What consequences could one possibly face if a citation is not properly cited? Why is it so important to use correct citation and proper grammar when writing an essay paper? While there are many different reasons why writers choose to use certain writing techniques, some of the common forms are the usage of quotations, paraphrasing, and mostly summarizing. Let's begin with the three differences of each one, and the purpose why so many people use them to incorporate each one into their writing styles. " One of the most popular and common one is quotations, this is when you quote exactly what you just read by using word for word translation" (www.mesaaz.com). This means you copy the text the way it was originally written, without any changes what so ever to the original. You'll then complete it by giving the author credit where credit is due, by putting it in quotation brackets'. "Another reason people may choose to quote is to emphasize a key point, or to bring your attention to an important concept" (www.mesaaz.com). Another way is to simply show your readers that the...show more content... Breaking things down step by step in words of your own. • 3. Reflection On Introduction To Writing I'm coming to you today to discuss my reflection after taking one of my prerequisite, Introduction to Writing (WRTG 101). Which is an introductory course to give you the basic knowledge of writing. Because I'm a Psychology Major at University of Maryland University College I looked forward to taking this class, because it has helped me enhanced my skills efficiently in grammar, and writing to help further my career as a psychologist and the ability to communicate on paper. Although, this class had many challenges, even though, I had taken a writing class fifteen years ago, my freshman year in college, I still wasn't proficient enough to write a professional letter or essay. Before taking this class, I had no passion to write. My writing would be all over the place, my events would not be in sequence, along with poor grammar, I would have to many ideas and unable to narrow down a topic, which in turn my supporting sentences were not supporting. Also, I didn't know how to cite my material or properly cite my references. I was scared I would fell this class, because I felt I didn't know just the basic knowledge of writing. Although, once upon of time, I had no passion for writing, I have a little more confidence, because I learned the basic knowledge in writing, grammar, and in punctuation. Also, I feel introduction to writing has offered me the accomplishments needed to become a more successful writer, as well as, the confidents to be a more proficient and active Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Citing Sources: Annotated Bibliography Citing Sources Citations provide information to help your readers locate the sources you consulted when writing your paper. Some of your instructors will specify which citation format you should use; others will tell you to choose your own citation format as long as you use it consistently. If your instructor does not mention citation format at all, you should ask whether a particular format is required. The most common citation formats are MLA (Modern Language Association) style, which is primarily used for papers in the humanities; APA (American Psychological Association) style, which is primary used for papers in the social sciences; and Chicago style (The Chicago Manual of Style), which is used for both humanities and social Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on How to Avoid Plagiarism How to Avoid Plagiarism Plagiarism is a growing problem in universities (Matheson & Starr 2013) and becoming too common in the scientific world (Ober et al. 2012). Hence it is important for students as well as researchers to know how to avoid plagiarism. Before discussing the ways to avoid plagiarism, this paper discusses the definition, the types and reasons for plagiarism. "Copying' or "borrowing" someone else's words or ideas may perhaps be the more inoffensive way of explaining plagiarism. However, these two terms may deliver a connotation that plagiarism is not much of a serious offense. Whether the act of plagiarising is intentional or unintentional, it is considered as a fraud. In an academic setting plagiarism may even...show more content... There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested by Ober et al. (2012). Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people's work, books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly. Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else's ideas into your own words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is still considered as "copying". Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the ways to avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original "voice". Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack of writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper. Rule 4: Don't recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers without citing This is the case of self–plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier publication but fail to cite the original and obtain Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Importance Of Reflection In Writing I have made a phenomenal amount of progress this semester. English 101 has made me a better writer and editor. Because the modules and peer–editing reviews it was easy to correct and learn from my mistakes. As a writer, I think I can still make an amount of improvement. With it being from mechanic errors and to clear organization skills. As for providing clear and relevant examples I have made improvements. I say I'm an average, but growing writer. I have my skills and weakness, but I still try harder. When I first came to English 101 I thought I had it down packed. In high school, I took AP Lit, a advanced placement English class. AP Lit offered a college level course, teaching us high school students college curricular. But when I received my first assignment, I hesitated, not knowing what to write. Then modules were introduced, making it better to reflect on. Constantly I relied on modules and notes, which helped me improve in my writing, in result giving me better feedback. As I progress along the semester, my final paper grades have improved. From starting on my political analysis project to finishing my argumentative essay. My political analysis paper ended with a 70%. The 70% is from the lack of transition and the lack of specific audiences. Also analyzing my information and relating back to my thesis. My last assignment, my argumentative essay ended with a 90%. In my argumentative essay I had a acceptable analysis and did great relating back to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Plagiarism and Citation Essay Plagiarism: Writing can be a difficult task for some people. For those people, before they start writing, the first thing they do is probably idea gathering, maybe looking for relate article on newspaper or magazine, look up some definition in the dictionary, check the World Wide Web, or even take a trip to the library. Often, they found what they are looking for, and before they know it, they start copying it, maybe a couple of word, few sentence, other peopleВЎВ¦s idea, or they even copy the whole thing. People often want to take things they like, it is part of human nature. But there are a big different between wanting to than actually taking it without permission, this kind of action is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined...show more content... The Webs This is word that have become popular only recent, it become more and more know as the computers and Internets are entering every household in the world. • 8. Reflection Paper On Academic Integrity Prior to completing the Academic Integrity Program, I thought academic integrity was as simple "not cheating." I considered it a policy solely implemented to ensure that students learned the material. To me, cheating was mostly plagiarism, or trying to pass off someone else's work as your own. It was not until I completed the program that I began to understand the long–term effects of cheating on the peers, the professor, and the institution. Now, I understand that cheating affects not just me, but also the other students in my courses and the university's reputation. I also understand the reasoning behind the university's strict policies regarding academic integrity violations, as they are in place to protect the student, the classmates,...show more content... I have also learned how to focus in on what exactly I have questions on, instead of not understanding where to even begin looking for issues and becoming overwhelmed. These practices have yielded success and project completion, and I will continue to do assignments in this fashion in my future Computer Science courses. There were some behaviors defined in the program that I was surprised to find academically dishonest. This is mostly because some of these behaviors had never occurred to me. This includes all the lab–related behaviors, such as dry lab data, trimming data, cooking data, ecology tampering, and carelessness. Dry lab data is reporting data for samples that have not been analyzed. Trimming data is cutting out the outliers from data that would "skew" your analyses, while cooking data is creating fabricated, new data to fit your analyses. Ecology tampering is intentionally changing environments between experimental groups to yield the results that you want. Carelessness is not paying close attention to something – calculations, lab procedures, etc. – and inadvertently reporting inaccurate results. All the behaviors described are academically dishonest because students have the same responsibilities as professionally–trained scientists since they are now within the same realm of science. Reporting inaccurate lab/research data can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay about William Gibson's Idoru Idoru Idoru by william gibson is nothing less than an awe–insiring book for me. no other author that i have come across can inspire one to recreate visions of reality at the turn of every page. Gibsons books are all compelling; neuromancer (1984) needing perhaps a special mention; as this book single handedly created the cyberpunk genre, aswell as coining phrases such as "cyberspace". However, as one of his later works (1996), we are able to find within Idoru's more contempory exploration of our worlds transformation into a high density infomation–governed datasphere, an analysis of what might happen to certain aspects of humanity as technology, infomation, and a new reality converge within the global infrastructure. First a...show more content... It examines the (basically exagerated, and possibly likely)new media conglomerates, the power they have, how the use and abuse it especially in relation to the world economy. One can spend pages and pages "outlining" the aspects of the world that Idoru covers; every little point begs to be interperated, and as there is such a wealth of infomation, ideas, and typographic references to modern culture, a mass of isomorphisms which reach out to one, this book is, to me, personally at least, bordering on revolutionary. Idoru is however, not a work of classic liturature, and doesnt share much with its classical literary counterparts (Brave new world for example), but as a work on its own, within its own genre it is certainly one of the finest. Perhaps in this analysis, one should consider the usual analytical tools (plot, structure, characterisation etc), aswell as how this book could help us in predicting a (considerably less dark) vision of the future, not to mention what it is about this book that inspires one so much. As previously mentioned, this novels plot is somewhat complicated – this however does not detract from the overall flow of the book – in a sense, the density of infomation and detail we are faced with when reading, acts as a mechanism to allow us to live the moment in the novel – a citizen in an infomtion dense society would be faced with so many details on a daily basis, it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. The Importance of Citation in Academic Writing The Importance of Citing in Academic Writing Many students today fail to understand the importance of citing sources when they write academic papers. Furthermore, some only cite sources because they are concerned about the grade that they are going to get if their paper is not complete. Plagiarism has become a common practice as individuals prefer to steal intellectual information from others. The ability to create is one of humanity's most important talents and it is wrong for someone to rob an individual of his or her right to put across his or her creativity. Most people understand the unfairness of committing plagiarism when their ideas are stolen and used without their consent and with the person who committed this immorality expressing no interest in referencing them. Academic writing encompasses a complex set of concepts and a person who wants to do it needs to get actively engaged in writing a document is likely to be reviewed by a group of scholars familiar with the subject under discussion. A citation is basically "a signpost and an acknowledgement" (Hunter). The fact that it is a signpost means that it provides readers with information regarding where they can find the source of the writer's inspiration. Its value as an acknowledgement relates to how the writer needs to put across his or her appreciation in regard to the sources that he or she used. In the academic world writers can only function by using sources and this is largely what keeps this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Classical And Contemporary Sociological Theories Angelica Rhyman TUT0006 angelica.rhyman@mail.utronto.ca 1003965079 Applying Classical and Contemporary Sociological Theories Sexual harassment is a negative aspect that society would like to forget about. However, there has been a lot of talk about the Harvey Weinstein scandal and thesexual harassment allegations (Ravelli and Webber 2016). Due to Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and his sexual harassment case, France might make a law that fines people for catcalls because of the women who are speaking out about sexual harassment (Ravelli et al. 2016). These current events tie in with Conflict theory due to the high status that Weinstein has and the power he has in the movie industry. This event also corresponds with Feminist theory of...show more content... 2016). Conflict theory explores power imbalances and conflict within our society to explain our social lives. (Bilefsky and Peltier. 2017). This classical theory would see the imbalance of power between Weinstein and the victims the theory would also see that his actions explained the social movement that is happening on social media. This movement brought awareness and a voice for women. This movement was introduced because of women–who lack the power to hold him responsible– needing their voices to be heard and need the support of other people and survivors. I believe that the sexual harassment movement on social media correlates with conflict theory because the article mentioned that one of the victims who Weinstein sexually harassed, had said that it was hard to go with him to his hotel room because of the status and influence he has in the movie industry (Ravelli et al. 2016). People want to move up in the movie business and make a name for themselves; the imbalance of power influences the women's decisions to be persuaded to go along with Weinstein but before they know it, it is too late (Ravelli et al. 2016). It could be said that Weinstein's power is very influential and impactful on how he treats people. I believe that conflict theory is strongly tied with this case because conflict theory speaks on behalf of the people who cannot speak for themselves; the people of power being Weinstein and the people who Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve. Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay. Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Often perceived as a group of tyrannical oppressors, the white people have firmly established their gruesome and discriminatory image through the bloody history of its dictatorship over racial minorities. Although it is true to some extent that White people were biased and unjust to other races, it is obvious that the intransigent mindset of the native Indian people have also contributed to the intense enmity between the two races. Harold Cardinal, once president of the Indian Association of Alberta, had inaccurately accused Caucasian Canadians in "The Mystery of the White Man". He had described White men as a group of bigoted, corrupted rapists and portrayed the Indians as some guiltless victims of the depraved White society mistreated...show more content... These examples of White criminals made his claim seemingly powerful as it was truthful that there are many criminals who are White but really, it is just as easy to come up with a list of Asians, Blacks, and Latinos who are lawbreakers, rapists, and law rigging judges. In "The Loons", the half–breed girl Piquette Tonnerre spent a month with the MacLeods, a Caucasian family on a holiday. During that period, the doctor's daughter Vanessa was trying to make friends with Piquette but she was rejected and ignored by the narrow–minded, over–defensive Piquette. Vanessa is an example of the open–minded, culture exchanging Whites Cardinal described at the end of "The Mystery of the White Man" (Cardinal, 200). Vanessa was one of those who have offered their culture and heritage; she was striving to discover the foreign ethnicity of the Indians but the cynical, self–protective Piquette had refused to befriend her. Both of the stories "Akua Nuten" and "The Loons" have reflected the fact that White people do try to reach out and discover the Indian culture. Nevertheless, they were either neglected by the unsociable Piquette or frightened at gunpoint by the racist Kukatso (Theriault, 128). Varying from the friendly and submissive attitude Cardinal described all Indians to have, Piquette was antagonistic and ignorant to learn or accept the White culture. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Advertising informs people that this product may be something that they like and is useful to them. Without advertising, many companies would not be able to preserve their business. Companies have to make sure they efficiently inform the public what their product does because if the public has no understanding of the product, they most likely will not buy it. Advertisements are first used locally and can eventually become nationally if the business is doing well and properly informing the consumers about the product and its purpose. This can be done using social media, newspapers, magazines, or bill boards if they are wealthy enough. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Essay On Social Interaction Introduction Social interaction with others shapes our lives and teaches us to be who we are. We learn how to talk through one–sided conversations between us and our mom and dad. We learn right from wrong by making mistakes or acting out and being reprimanded if those actions don't represent the norms of our society. We learn through talking with others how to voice our own wants, needs, thoughts, and opinions. Our ability to interact with others can be a core strength for some people, but this is a daily struggle for others. Some individuals don't have this skill to utilize. Social interaction is so important to us, that we are unaware that this is a privilege for us to possess. Having the ability to communicate with others freely,...show more content... This leads to difficulties learning in general curriculum classrooms with no accommodations or modifications to the material provided. There is also an absence of conceptual, social, and practical skills. About seventy–five percent of people with intellectual disabilities have demonstrated a lack of social skills. Social skills are "behaviors that allow for social interactions to be mutually beneficial and reinforcing" (O'Handley, Ford, Radley, Helbig, & Wimberly, 2016, pg. 542). Interpersonal skills, social responsibility, self–esteem, and situational wariness are only some examples of what individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) have difficulty comprehending ((American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, 2017). Of course, those diagnosed with an intellectual disability are not the only individuals in the special education population that have difficulty with social skills. A study conducted by Belinda Ratcliffe and others approached the idea that individuals with higher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Importance Of Credible Sources A source is the place or resource in which knowledge has been obtained. When looking for sources to use in a research paper you need to be able to determine whether or not a source is reliable and credible. It is important to use reliable and credible sources so that the information you use in a document you are writing is accurate and will not affect you in a negative way, by either getting a bad grade in school or just looking unintelligent to a colleague. A credible source is a source of good quality that a reader can trust to be truthful and believable, otherwise known as convincing or plausible. It is important to use credible sources to prove points because it enhances your own credibility as a writer by contributing to the effect of...show more content... When using ethos you create a sense of authority to the reader that what you are saying is reliable. For example, in commercials athletes advertise athletic products, while models advertise beauty products. This shows a reader that professional people in a certain field backup a product in a positive way. Ethos is also used when someone uses actions that a person has completed in the past, to help persuade people that they have experience and are reliable. When using logos you can cite statistics, analogies, and historical context about a topic to show you are a credible source and that the information you are using can be proven with evidence. It enhances a rational and fact based reasoning on a topic. If you use pathos and appeal to the more emotional side of a topic, a reader could immediately identify your source as bias, as it uses a human's sense of emotion to get someone to agree with a topic. A credible and reliable source can be determined through characteristics in spelling/grammar, citations and examples used within a document, and the author. Once a reliable and credible source has been identified you can use it in any research paper that will help improve your skills as a writer, and make your writing as reliable as the sources that allowed you to write it. When creating a reliable and credible source use ethos and logos to help support your claim, to enhance your authority and provide logical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
